Mercure Hotel Saarbrücken City4.0 out of 5.0
Recent guest reviews
The Mecure City is ideally located in close proximity to the city as the name suggests. Ultimately this is its strongest point as many other reviews point out. On site parking is available but limited. Some may find the garage slightly tricky to navigate as its often quite full. At 11 euro per night this is not horrendous - but given the conditions of the garage its not perfect. The rooms and overall facilities are acceptable and clean, but the decor is looking quite dated, given that this is a global brand hotel. The offering is more of a local hotel than the standard one would expect of Mecure. Saying that the breakfast offers a wide selection of hot and cold items. Whilst the hotel offers WIFI - you should consider that any connectivity is not possible. In making that assumption and using your own data plan you are covered. I tried with a number of staff to connect a multiude of devices from differing locations and its poor to the point it simply just isnt working. The system is constantly showing a low signal and as a result seems to disconnect/reconnect in an effort to find a better signal - which after trying is not available and starts again. Given that if you visit Saarlouis town centre free wifi is available across the town - its strange in this day and age WIFI in a hotel is not possible. In conclusion the hotel is comfortable for a couple of nights or when passing through the area....I would not wish to stay here for for longer personally, given the issues experienced during this visit.
Good location nearby shops, restaurants and supermarkets. The hotel is at river side and is an agreable place. Hotel offers parking car in the same building. It is at side of Shopping Galeria, where you fins any kind of shops.
This Mercure location is within walking distance of the Old Town, the main shopping street, the train station and loads of cafes and restaurants. The staff are friendly. Parking is easy, directly under the hotel for 11 euros a day. There are a few parking spaces in the front for free, but we were not lucky enough to get one. The breakfast is huge with a large variety to choose from, including hot and cold items. Unfortunately for us, we ended up leaving after the first night. We booked in advance and requested a quiet room and we booked a room with AC. Our room was unbearable from the heat. We asked for a fan, but they did not have one and instead unlocked our window for some air. With the window open the street noise was non-stop. At around 3am we asked to move to another room but was told that on the other side of the hotel was a main highway and the noise would be the same. The AC was turned off in all the rooms and only heat was available. So we cut our stay short. The staff understand and was very kind. There is A small terrace for having a drink out side and the morning breakfast staff was also pleasant. If the AC would have been working, this would have been a much nicer experience.
Hotel is in city centre, very clean specious room with tea/coffee making facility, massive TV on wall with lots of channel. Small fridge. The location is good for touring Saarbrucken. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was excellent for dinner, pleasant stay for business.
Perfect for a short stay close to the City center, unless you need a gym, a pool or a hammam to be satisfied. Typical mercure style Hotel, rooms are ok, nothing spectacular (and quite hot inside), but with a nice river view. Very friendly and efficient service. Do not miss to try the restaurant (Schlemmerie), great food, good wine, for reasonable prices. I will be back.
The room was very nice and spacious with modern bathroom amenities, however, felt they were a little stingy with the towels. The restaurant was excellent for dinner, but wish they would have served bacon at breakfast. Obviously, not much to complain about though!
Lovely clean hotel with friendly staff and the breakfast was great. I was worried they wouldn't cater for my diet, (as I have quite a few food intoletances) I took my food, but I needn't have bothered. Absolutely beautiful spread of food and drink to choose from.
Stayed overnight on way to Austria. The room was well presented and airy. The facilities were pleasant. Food was really good - had a lovely buffet dinner. Did walk round after dinner to see the memorial next to the hotel which was very moving.
I always like to stay in Accor properties because of their reliability and high standards, and this was no exception. The location is good for touring Saarbrucken. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. I booked an executive room, and it was very large and comfortable. Only negative was that the exterior was being renovated and so the windows were covered up. Light still could come in, but you couldn't get a view out of the room. It was hard initially to figure out how to get into the parking garage with the construction going on. It might just be easier to pull up to the front and ask reception. That is what I had to end up doing. The restaurant was excellent and had good traditional Saarland food. I liked this hotel a lot.
Parking fee is €11 per night, which adds to your bill. The luxourious room is very very OK, and extra breakfast is extensive. In the middle of the city, with some nice places to eat near by. Staff is efficient, and nice and friendly.
