There is also an extensive variety of footpaths, bridleways and cycle routes just waiting to be explored. Firestone Copse, a beautiful woodland walk, is just a short drive across the creek.
Wootton Bridge has a number of local shops, and a good choice of takeaways and pubs. There are many places of interest and all just a short drive including Osborne House, the stately holiday residence of Queen Victoria, Quarr Abbey with its resident monks, and impressive Carisbrooke Castle. The Victorian town of Ryde is also a short drive and is the second major town on the Island.
