George & Pilgrims Hotel
4/5 Good
"This is a novelty choice that we thoroughly enjoyed. Where else can you say you’ve stayed at a hotel built in 1475 and reputedly hosted King Henry VIII? The front of the hotel looks very much from the Middle Ages and could use a refresh (if preservationists would allow it). The public house on the ground floor looks like it’s been serving patrons reliably for centuries and was full of life. Our extra large room was amazing with its stained glass windows overlooking the high street , and decorated with assorted 200 year old furniture & a four poster (and very comfortable) bed. The bathroom is thoroughly modern and clean. The experience was a fun treat. And the staff was super helpful. If modern accommodations is more your speed this property is probably not for you but if you enjoy an out of the box experience and a taste of time long ago, make a reservation to spend the night here!"
