Nice enough but generally a bit tired. The room and bathroom in particular felt dated and in need of a refresh.

Great outdoor space for small-medium dogs to run around, not too busy so human can enjoy a nice drink on the terraces. The room was basic but comfortable, no shower with a hose to wash your dog, so a bit tricky to clean your dog. Food is very limited for vegan and staying with a dog, only a few dishes. Good for 2 nights stay.

Beautiful hotel and grounds

Great Fosters is a beautiful hotel, with stunning grounds and an idyllic heated outdoor pool. Our more modern room - a super spacious king suite - was comfortable and air conditioned. Breakfast was of a good standard, a bit limited compared to my expectations but good quality. Our only complaint was that drinks service in the bar was painfully slow.

Great property. I wish the landscaping was better. Our bath room had crack ceramic tiles. Apart from these it is still a beautiful place with a relaxing vibe.

Great but service needs work

This is a lovely hotel really nice location surroundings are beautiful. Rooms are comfy it's modern even though the building and surroundings are historic. Largely it's great Be mindful of rooms. Mine although comfortable with the window open I could hear car doors slamming at 6am and noisy talking in other rooms I found it strange to be offered late checkout only to be found that it came at a cost. That cost of £50 didn't give me the luxury to carry on using the pool till the end of the day and only to the end of the late checkout which seems a bit unnecessary The pool service was very slow and I found it very strange to be served by men in shoes and suits. All unnecessarily stuffy.

Beware: This hotel does not allow children at the pool during the day. We landed and arrived by noon, they did not offer a room until later in the day nor did they offer any alternate suggestions for us to enjoy ourselves on the property since we could not use the pool. They did not provide a map or any helpful info. Suggesting it might be a 3 star hotel. The restaurants are legit yet expensive, our room was good enough. Service with hotel management was poor.

This is a beautifully situated property with stunning gardens and a very well preserved and extended historic building . My one gripe would be that breakfast, albeit set within a beautiful hall was a long wait Definitely a hotel i would go back to and recommend

The hotel is charming and the grounds are beautiful. However, all rooms in the main house have no AC, which is very uncomfortable during the summer months. They are severely understaffed (especially when they have an event/wedding), with most employees being part-timers or new to the property. The staff was very friendly and polite, just overwhelmed. The rooms(& bathrooms) could do with a little refurb. Overall, great potential, but they could elevate the experience & property a lot more.

We decided to stay at Great Fosters instead of an airport at Heathrow and we are really happy we did. The cab ride from airport to hotel was a flat 80UKB which for a 5 mile ride is nothing short of highway robbery so that put us on a bit of downer to be honest. We checked in late so the hotel was very quiet. We were escorted to our room by a lovely desk clerk. The room was not in the main house but we were ok with that. It was a fairly well appointed room but what let it down was the flooring. It was cheap engineered wooden flooring that creaked and moaned, was poorly locked together so there were gaps in the planks but apart from the bed was comfortable the linens were nice and it was really quiet so we slept really well. We had breakfast the next morning. Staff were nice, food was above average but only just. Service was the same. After breakfast we had booked massages as we were on an 11 hr west coast flight. The massage itself was good but weirdly the ambient music kept repeating itself with a good 1 minute gap every cycle which was around 3 minutes and this was really distracting and also a little awkward when it was silent.... The we explored the grounds and .... WOW. They are stunning, a window back in time to a very well manicured English stately garden complete with little curiosities, a lake, geese and enough flowers to make 1000 weddings happy, truly glorious. Check was smooth and once again provided by really lovely staff. Would recommend.

Room was absolutely boiling, could not sleep. Given 3 useless air-cooling units that did nothing..complaint not taken seriously and £5 compensation given. Grounds nice, food at wedding and door staff great. Based on the ridiculous heat in the room, I would not recommend.
