Santa's Hotel Rudolf2.5 out of 5.0

Simple, clean and close to the centre. The really annoying element is arriving there to find you have to check in at a DIFFERENT Santa Claus hotel, very frustrating and not at all obvious when booking online.
Very clean and not far from center, you could walk from central station and center of the town. Around the hotel, there is one nice craft shop named Lauri, Aalto architecture Aho house, Marttinni and Arktikum, which are great. No reception in the same building is bit tricky though.
Good budget option - clean room with good shower and c. 5-10 mins walk to the centre of town. All tours pick up/drop off from here. True you have to check in at Santa's Hotel but not really an inconvenience, as it's just a 10 minute walk up one street to find it.
Very basic hotel compared to Finnish standards however clean and everything you need to stay a night in a hotel. Not that convenient to check-in at Santa's Hotel 750m from Rudolf, so keep in mind - no services at Rudolf.
It is good. You get what you paid for I guess. It is well located, 10 min walking from the main street, 5 min walking from a supermarket. As previous reviews point out the checkin needs to happen in Santas Hotel, which is not bad as it is quite close. Beds could be more comfortable but are not bad. Walls are thin so you can listen your neighboors snoring or having a party. The curtain does not fit the whole window which is not an issue during winter - not too much light in the morning. As long as the days pass you start seeing defficiencies; e.g. You can run out of toilet paper and there's no change, no clean towels, no hair dryer. The fact of not having hair dryer looks ridiculous at my eyes when you are under 0 C. You need to get it from Santa hotel, leave a cash deposit of 20€ and give it back if you want your 20€.
Everything was as expected for this price. Clean room. Nice staff. Central. If you looking for a nice budget hotel to spend one night or some days in Rovaniemi, this is the place to go ;). Check out the Arktikum Museum it is not far away and really good :).
Santa's Hostel Rudolf is sort of a hybrid between a hostel and a hotel. Each room has its private toilet/bathroom and there is also a small communal kitchen available down on the basement floor. The beds are quite comfortable and there's enough space available for two travelers. The ceiling of the room has a roof like appearance, which increases the feeling of the room size. We had some problems with the windows, as they wouldn't close properly and there was some cold draft as a consequence. Also the heating in the room wouldn't work. When you are checking out, you have to undo the bed linen and take it to the basket at the stairwell/lift. The reception is located at the Santa's Hotel, which is located a good 5 minutes of walk down the street from the hostel - when booking the hostel, it says that you have to check-in at the Hotel, so this should be no issue. Also with the Hotel located in the center of the city, the reception is close to public transport and if arriving by car, there's plenty of parking space in the vicinity of the hotel as well. Hostel has its own guest parking space. Hostel itself is located just a few minutes walk from the center of the city, the Arktikum museum, Pilke Science Center and old Marttini knives factory.
So came in and needed a place. Rudolf is the cheapest option. It says hostel, they mean hotel. Really nice room with own hot shower and toilet. Lovely! Close to centre. One minus: no reception. You have to go to santa Claus hotel to check in. I didn't know so found out in front of the hostel. Also breakfast is in santa Claus hotel. 11,50 euro, buffet, and eat whatever you want. Expensive but really good, since coffee and a sandwich are pretty prizy as well. Would go back again for sure.
Clean and nice hostel for reasonable price. It's about 500 meters from city center so everything is on walking distance. There's a nice small kitchen and dining area in downstairs. Room was quite hot (summer) but there was table fan and window was possible to open so it was ok. There's a free parking behind the hostel.
The hostel is excellent, accomodation is very comfy and very close to the city center, everything within walking distance. The only problem is that before you go there you must go to the hotel to do the check-in, and that is not fun if it is snowing a lot. And some of the other guests were a bit noisy during the night. The elevator door closes even if you are on the way, so be aware.
