I spent one night in Rovaniemi and selected this hotel to stay, not known to me before. The "Vaakuna" is right in the center of the town, which saves some steps although Rovaniemi is not that big. The Arktikum museum and science center is at walking distance. The hotel must have been renovated recently, as everything in my room looked new and was clean and neat. The bed was first-class, allowing a good night's sleep, not always the case in even higher-end hotels. I made the mistake of shutting down the air-con, as the weather outside was cool, but the room got stuffy very soon so I put the air-con on again and got a good ventilation. The breakfast was good, nothing out of the ordinary but all there and nicely presented. The personnel was very friendly, reception helpful, made be feel welcome. I would come again!
We stayed there for two night. Hotel is in the center of rovaniemi in front of one bust stop, very good for all the connections from atations/airports/santa village. Receptinists was excellent and helpfully with us. They was very available to help us to find some places and giv is the righr informations that we needed about rovaniemi. Breakfast buffet is very various. So, we can give only 5 stars, but really we want to give 6 stars for feedback!
Stayed for 3 nights with my sister when we visited Rovaniemi recently. The hotel was situated most conveniently in the city center, just 15 min drive from the airport and just across the agency of Lapland Safaris, if you need to book any local tours. First impression when stepping into the hotel lobby is that it's a neat and clean place. The hotel room was awesome - we didn't get a big room but still spacious and comfy enough. Best part was the fur comforter on the bed! It made us want to rest in bed all day. The room was spotless clean - not a speck of dust to be found. Toilet was spacious too. And they had sweets to welcome the guests. :) We also liked that the hotel had a good variety of restaurants connected to it - there's an Italian one, a French one and a more casual one featuring burgers. Staff was always friendly and helpful to help make reservations - not just for their own related restaurants but for other restaurants in the city center as well. Would like to commend one particular receptionist - Heidi. She had shoulder length hair (a mix of blonde and brown), pretty eyes and the brightest smile you have ever seen. We loved seeing her face lit up and smile as the guests walked into the hotel lobby. We troubled her twice to make reservations and never once did she complain. Good that she also recognises her guests e.g. she asked us how the dinner was after we came back. It made our stay in the hotel even more memorable. In summary, would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who's visiting Rovaniemi. I would myself, when my family revisits another time! Cheers - kt, Singapore
During our trip through Scandinavia, we made a stop in Rovaniemi and stayed at the Sokos for one night. The rooms were pretty modern, with some awesome LED northern light effects above the bed, which makes a pretty romantic atmosphere at night, if you're travveling with your spouse or partner. Each floor has separated saunas, which can be used til 22:00. The food was very delicious. We had a buffet dinner with lots of things to choose, but you could also order something from the menu, and the service was very polite.
This hotel looked very ordinary for the outside but inside was another matter. The rooms are renovated with terrific lighting, comfortable beds, great space. We had a nice view of the street. It was very quiet. The room wifi was reliable. The lobby is spacious with very helpful staff. The hotel is near the river and downtown Main Street promenade. The hotel restaurant is excellent. The buffet breakfast wonderful with a special table for children. I highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed at the hotel as part of a tour group. The room was clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated and furnished. The best part was the lighting above the headboard. It appeared to be the northern lights and changed to different colors as well as intensity. Hotel was centrally located within easy walking distance of shopping as well as restaurants and local attractions right off the river. Was a great place to see the midnight sun.
This was my second visit to this hotel and I would still recommend it . Rooms are clean, well kept and spacious. Staff was again friendly and everything was done efficiently. Maybe the hotel restaurant is a bit over priced, but quality of the food is good. It is my choice in Rovaniemi.
Never been to this hotel before, was a pleasant surprise. Outside a very typical hotel building, but inside a few nice surprises. Rooms were recently renovated to Lappish style, but not overboard (for a finn). Room on the quiet side was really quiet (this not being the high season of partying tourists) and across the aisle was the sauna, very handy! Sauna had a nice cooling area with sofas, refreshments and beautyproducts for and after sauna. Restaurant was a mix of castle hall, roudhouse and a saloon and staff was efficient and friendly (young).
Stayed for 2 nights with a friend. Overall clean with basic amentities provided. Twin beds were too close and not able to move further that seemed like a queen bed. Beddings are quite comfortable though. Breakfast so so.
From the time of booking we felt very confident. Everything was organized, confirmed and prepared in a proper manner. Reservation for our first dinner was made without any problem by e-mail. Very friendly staff members, always ready to help. Central location, basic but comfortable and clean rooms with comfortable beds, excellent breakfast with vast choice of food including local Lapish specialities. Airport bus stops literally in front of the hotel doors. The same stop serves you when you need to get a bus to Santa's village (reception provided us with it's timetable). Arkticum is just 20 min. (may be under 10 min. if you take a walk straight through the town) of pleasurable stroll along the river. Angry Birds playing area (for families with kids) is only 5 minutes walk. We also enjoyed dining in their French bistro twice and had an excellent lunch in Amarillo mexican restaurant. We loved everything. There is a luggage room if you need to store anything after your check out. Thank you Sokos Vaakuna!
