We loved the cabin itself; quiet, remote, and comfortable (hot tub worked great). Unfortunately, the overall experience was unsafe and poorly managed.After a major snowstorm, access requires a UTV on a private unpaved road. We were given no warning that the snow was deep enough for the UTV to get completely stuck (it did, about 1/4 mile from the house). We ended up trudging through knee-deep snow in -2 weather to reach the property and make multiple exhausting trips to carry our belongings. What’s most frustrating is it appeared the owner/caretaker had recently been stuck in the exact same spot! (as the tracks/footprints showed), yet still didn’t warn us. When we called, he said he wasn't even aware we were there!Once there, the cabin had NO SNOW SHOVEL or basic snow supplies... in a remote Catskills property. The owner’s “local friend” was unhelpful and ultimately didn’t show when we left; we had to walk the full distance out with our luggage, then got a text saying he “overslept.”We’re experienced and had ski gear packed, but the first night was genuinely dangerous. We both sustained mild frostbite on our toes and fingers. This could easily ruin someone else’s trip. Great cabin, but the lack of preparation, communication, and support makes this hard to recommend in winter conditions.
