Location: on a good shopping street (clothes, shoes), there's a small supermarket nearby, only 450 m from Lepanto metro station, 1,5 km from Vatican city, 1,3 km from Piazza Navona. So the historic center and Vatican are totally walkable from here. And if you can't walk a lot, the metro is conveniently close. Also, if you want to save in airport transfer from Fiumicino, take the SIT Bus shuttle. It stops at 28 Via Crescenzio, which is 700 m from the hotel and costs only 6e/person. We came with SIT bus, but were lazy when getting back to the airport and asked for the hotel to arrange a transfer for us at 50e (48e is the normal taxi rate). The driver appeared punctually in a black Mercedes and an expensive suit :), and drove us quickly but safely to the airport. Rooms: on the small side, but that is the norm for most city hotels. Immaculately clean, excellent cleaning service every day. Free toiletries and air conditioning, breakfast buffet was included at least in our room price. A minibar which was cold enough - that is rare! Good soundproofing. The beds were a bit hard, so we asked for extra thin mattresses to be put on top of our beds. It was done on the same day and after that the beds were perfect to our taste. The rooms were quite dark because of the black and grey textiles and walls. One thing that could be improved is the lighting, especially the bedside lamps were very dim for reading. Another thing that could be improved, would be to add shelves to the bathroom. There is very little space to lay down your toiletries. The air conditioning was fine in June, when the temperatures drop down to 20 C at night, but I'm guessing it won't be efficient enough when it's baking hot in August. Breakfast: Italian style buffet. Cold cuts, bread, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, salad, cheese. Many sweet pastries, jam, Nutella. Coffee, tea and juice; cappuccino, espresso and caffellatte on request. It was quite satisfactory for us. Service: excellent! Everyone was polite, helpful and spoke good English. Nothing was a problem for the staff, everything went as agreed. Super special thanks to Rita at the reception, who organised a Ferrari drive for us! It was an unforgettable experience. We would definitely stay here again!
Loved this hotel, the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great. The rooms are dark, as other reviewers point out but that’s the aesthetic of the hotel so it looks good. We were upgraded at reception to help us with our baby which was really nice of them.
I have just returned from 3 nights here and was very pleased. Our room was not big but enough for what we needed and very clean. The street was lovely with lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby and the staff were very friendly. The only downside was there was no iron or ironing board in the room so we had to ring everyday for one to be bought to our room.
Arrived at Twentyone hotel. Very small and unimpressive reception. We were given the keys to our room. Our first impression was of a very macabre room. Black walls, Black floors, black bed linen. We then went on to find that there was one small wardrobe with hanging space and no other facilities to put our belongings. The bathroom was black with a white sink & a mirror, Black floor a shower with no shower tray water runs all over the bathroom. There was no place except the floor for our toiletries. When we went to the reception to ask if there were any other facilities they just shrugged their shoulders. We had to live out of our suitcases. We had a long window in our room but had to keep the curtain closed as people walking on the adjacent corridor could see right into our room. The only saving grace was that the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was adequate but with a fairly small choice. not 4 star at all. The staff were very friendly, but we were very surprised to see the manager of the restaurant unshaven, and in baggy jeans. . He was however very pleasant. The reception staff were very helpful both in directions and booking taxies. The Best part of Hotel21 was leaving it.
This hotel is a short walk to the river, a bit longer to the Vatican. It is on a thriving street with plenty of cafe's and restaurants. Staff are accommodating and the rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast is served in a lovely café on the ground floor. It can get busy so I would suggest an early start. You are in Rome to sight see I guess, so don't lie around! The only slight irritation was the ground floor smoke room which we could smell in our room on the first floor (minor problem)
This was an unseasonably cold week in Rome and the heating in the hotel was not working. We asked for additional blankets, which was like "pulling teeth". Apparently there was a lot of call for blankets! Every time we mentioned the problem with the heating we got a different answer, none of which was completely believable. There was certainly lots of apparent activity going on around water and pipes. Anyway, I left with a nasty head cold brought on by sleeping in a freezing room.
This hotel was well situated for visiting Rome. Easy walking to all of the main sites. Its on a busy(ish) road but where isn't in the centre of Rome. The room we had was clean and comfortable. We had a room with a wet room bathroom which was not easy to manage as it tended to flood the bathroom. The reception staff were very friendly and nothing too much trouble. The breakfast was as expected and easy to manage and plenty of choice. We had a meal here on the first night but found it quite expensive as was the bar. Across from the hotel was a lovely pizza/pasta restaurant which we enjoyed. Tea making facilities on request and free from the reception. Would stay here again if I were to visit Rome .
Hotel location was very good and 3 blocks away from metro station. Can walk to city center easily, aprox 15/20min. There’s one supermarket 1 block away, which is good to buy water and anything you might need. The room was very similar to the pictures at the website, all black and very dark. The hotel daily cleanness was great and, as mentioned on previous comments, the bathroom and shower were definitely too small. Breakfast was great and pastries always super fresh and tasty. Room soundproofing was not very good, could listen all corridor noises and at night the people at the patio restaurant.
This hotel is conveniently located to access the main sites in Italy's capital. Just a few minutes walk from the Vatican City and The Spanish Steps. The hotel is tastefully appointed with comfortable beds and all the facilities you would expect. We only used the restaurant for breakfast which was perfectly acceptable but nothing special.
We found this hotel to be the ideal location for a city visit - within 20 minute walk of the Vatican and close to transport routes. The hotel itself has a very good bistro which I will review separately. The breakfast is continental in style with plenty to choose from. Our room was clean and spacious, Very comfortable but the only down side was a lack of storage for clothing. a wardrobe but no drawer or cupboard space. We were there for a few nights only so had only a little luggage but with more luggage I would have found that annoying. All staff we met were friendly and helpful and we would definitely try and stay there again if we ever return to Rome.
