I had booked a room for two people, when I got there it only showed for one. I was charged extra 25 euros per night per room. ( it cost an extra 100 euros for two rooms) My daughter's room had no air, and the air only runs at specific times during the day. Great location but very dated, I would not stay here again.

We chose this room because of the location on the main avenue to Saint Peter's square. It also had parking in the premises and we could walk to many of the sights in Rome.

the location is just steps away from St. Peter Square. We need to open the window the whole time we stayed because the A/C was not functioning properly. the housekeeping , bell boys and staff were all nice except for one lady staff in the reception area that was rude and has very bad attitude. We stayed at the upper floor and she gaved me the wrong key twice & she won't entertain my inquiries either.

The location is really great, very close to St. Peter Basilica. We opened the window the whole we time stayed because the A/C is not working properly. The housekeeping and bell boy were all nice but there's one lady staff in the reception area that was rude and cranky..She has a very bad attitude towards me , we stayed at upper floor and gave me the wrong key twice.

The perfect location. We were literally 2 minutes (walking) to the Vatican. Also great restaurants, and gelatos. Hotel room was ok. It had a college fraternity funk to it. Reminded me of college as I had those type of carpet, and would smell really bad due to spilling drinks on it. We only returned to the hotel at night to sleep, so the smell was tolerable. After opening the windows.

Perfect location for a Vatican visit. Very friendly staff.

Excellent location! 2 minute walk to the Vatican, 10 minute walk to the Metro Station and shops and restaurants are nearby. Everything is accessible by foot. This hotel is a historical site itself, just staying here feels very authentic and walls are thick and you don't hear the room next door. The shuttle service is definitely worth it if your being picked up by at the airport since they wait for you with a sign. It's about 10 euros more than a taxi from the Airport to Hotel and going to the airport costs less than a taxi. Pick Pocketing is a major issue in Rome's Metro station and train, the shuttle is worth the extra euros. However that's pretty much the only crime, rarely there's violent crime. English is a challenge for the majority of the the staff with the exception of that one older guy working there, that guy is very hospitable. He must love his job. He's always greeting you going in and out! The WiFI is definitely slow and poor coverage in rooms, but considering this is a 500 year old hotel with think walls, best bet is to use WiFI in the common areas. The rooms are clean and big, the bathrooms is an interesting experience, it's impossible to take a shower so you have to take a bath, oh but the vegetable soap and shampoo they give you, it feels so good.

My husband and I loved exploring this handsome building with it's gorgeous painted ceilings and antiques. It was close to the Vatican, Castel Sant' Angelo and the Tiber River, with other sites within walking distance.

The location was great relative to St Peter's and the Vatican. Nightlife ends really early. Close to Red Line Hop On Hop Off. Hotel restaurant fairly expensive. Rooms small, but good value for 2-3 nights.

The only way this location could get better is if you stayed at the Vatican! Could not believe the view. The rooms are very basic, the A/C is not the best, and our room did not have a shower curtain. Do not believe them when they say the wifi works in the rooms, if you can connect you will be kicked out almost immediately, but they have a wi fi area in the lobby and in the bar. The restaurant is amazing! We never ate breakfast there, at 15 euro's each for breakfast it seemed a little steep. However, there is a nice cafe a few doors down. Front desk staff very helpful, and communicated well, but if you call down late evening may not speak English.

Excelent overall Excelent overall Excelent overall

This hotel was at a perfect location to travel in Rome and Vatacian City. There is just a great vibe you get from this hotel once you enter the front entrance. Will book again if we plan visiting Rome again.

This place has so much potential, but really does not capitalize on it at all. Glorious old building; free parking (in Rome!) in a center court area; fantastic staff; common areas done very well. But the rooms themselves have received nothing. Another reviewer's description of it being like a Motel 6 was not far off. There is no a/c, which I knew, but that was not an issue when we went (plenty cool in the evening). Also no coffee in the rooms, which for me is a mortal sin. Internet access is 15 euro a night, which in this day and age is not reasonable. Oh - and the place was not easy to find using GPS in Rome. Having said that, for what it is, it's fine, and probably I'll be back again when next I am stupid enough to drive in Rome.

The Good: The location is second to none if you plan on visiting the Vatican. Plenty of food and gift shops close. Cool air condition, which is more rare than one thinks. Cheap by area comparison. The entrance is beautiful and reception gives a solid impression. The Bad: The rooms are not clean and the bugs (hopefully mosquitoes) ate us to pieces. I think there are more expensive rooms that I believe that might be of better quality. However, we paid $135 US and our room was of truck stop/Motel 6 quality.

This hotel is perfectly located near the Vatican, but I would not return because the room was hot and the bed uncomfortable. Housekeeping would turn the AC off every day while we were out (and the AC didn't work well to begin with). We had to leave a note for them to keep it on so that our room would be cool after returning from the 90 degree days in Rome. They also did not replenish our soap and shampoo. The wifi was out of order for a day, after we had to pay 3 euros for an hour of usage. We later learned that wifi in the lobby is free, even though the lady at the front desk told us we had to pay. The architecture of the place is cool and it felt like a castle, but the lighting was awful and gives it a spooky/dreary feel.

This hotel is in a great location just down the street from St. Peter's Square. The staff was great and they had a wonderful buffet breakfast.

HOTEL COLUMBUS on Via Conciliazione in Rome is a perfect fit for anyone who wants to be in the heart of St.Peter's basilica. Only a few steps away! It's a palace of the Rovere family that was converted into a hotel!!! The Amenities are good; Rooms are adequate and quiet!!! Hotel Columbus has a great ambiance and Medieval environment . The Breakfast for 15euros in the hotel Columbus is a bargain compared other cafes in the area...which are all so pricey! Staff is helpful! Need a cab, limo or help to find a bus to the shopping district...they know it all. Also, Internet available and I-pad can be rented per day ... we will always stay at the Hotel Columbus when we come to Rome!

We truly enjoyed our 3 night/4 day stay. Room exceeded expectations. Fantastic location.

Wonderful building with wide-open staircases. Three minute walk to St. Peter’s. Great nearby cafes. Beautiful courtyard for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Fantastic staff.

most helpful staff I've ever encountered. Good wifi, and sooo close to st. Peter's square. Even helped further book my stay!
