We are a group of people who booked our hotel deal as a package from the travel agency in Mauritius (Travel Lounge). We stayed at the hotel from 4 to 9 September 2019. Below are my main issues: 1. On arrival, we got only one room but we have booked two. We had to move all our things to that one room and wait until the other one was free. This is something that happen and we understand but could be avoided if we had call the hotel before check-in to make sure that we will get both rooms together. 2. Our biggest shock was that on arrival, there was no water in the hotel. So no shower or toilet. We got a notice in the room telling us there was some problem and there will be specific times where water will be provided. For me this was unacceptable as we have paid for a service that we are not getting. We have no problem with water in our own homes in Mauritius and now we have paid for a hotel and we have water problem. Perhaps, the hotel should have informed the travel agency about this problem so that we were informed before we do our booking. Water is a very important commodity and we need it. The hotel should stop taking bookings if they know they have water problems and all travel agencies should be informed. The front office lady at the reception was very harsh when asking her about the problem and her reply was 'je ne serai vous dire'. Later, we came to understand that they needed a spare part from Mauritius to fix the problem. Although, there are many flights from Mauritius to Rodrigues per day, that spare part never made it there. I wonder if this was just another excuse? Even when there was water, there was still no hot water to shower sometimes. 3. One night when there was the barbecue buffet, we did not get any lamb barbecue and the waiter said it was over. We were still at around 8pm and well within time for the buffet. When we spoke with the chef they told me that the people have exaggerated on the local lamb. But this is not our problem. The chef amended this problem by offering us lamb skewers for dinner the next day which was not comparable to the grilled lamb we missed. If a buffet is from 7pm to 10pm, all the food provided should be available to the guests even if a guest walks in that buffet at 9:55pm. The hotel should cater for their guest demands. Despite all those problems, we finally stayed in the hotel for 5 nights with limited water which according to me is unacceptable. It was my first and last time at this hotel and I will definitely not recommend it to anyone else. Tekoma hotel was just next door to us and I would have preferred to pay more to go and stay there than to stay in cotton bay. I am really angry and disgusted by how we were treated. This case will also be reported to the travel agency and the Tourism Authority in Mauritius.

The staff here are a joy and always ever so helpful. The cleanliness of the hotel is 2nd to none and the setting itself is like paradise, With fantastic views of the ocean from the balcony, this place revives your senses and invigorates you in so many ways. However Internet here is a little bit of an issue, you can only access it from the reception and the bar area – which is a little bit annoying especially when the WiFi Is quite slow, as all the guests use the same network. Making a WhatsApp call is almost impossible. Also, although breakfast and dinner are included in most packages drinks are not – not even water.hat a beautiful

I came back home today, after a 4 days visit in Rodrigues Island and where I stayed at Cotton Bay Hotel, located in probably the best place on the Island. The welcoming of the staff, with their traditional smile help you to enter strait to your holiday experience there. What can you ask more when the room is comfortable, the food is average, when service is top?

We were a family of six persons & booked 3 rooms: As from the first day we got lots of issues. * A man asked why we put a DND sign, that person seem to be unprofessional (Complaint was done on this issue to my agency & the management there): you will know whom i'm talking about. *The same day while opening the sofa bed of the room for the 3rd pax(see photos of such attached), it was stained with maybe pee or unidentified liquid. After the complaint was done an additional bed was put in room. *Same for the curtain full of stains. *Several days no hot water *The A/C not working. Which was repaired after several complained on the eve of my departure it was working properly. *We got itching the whole night and on the next day had asked for a deep cleaning in all rooms, changing of towels, linen. *Wardrobe & towels smelly like moisture. * On the checkout day we asked for three fresh towels at 9am with the RDM twice nothing received, we had to call again & he said that he thought that we need them for the shower after noon as we were moving in another room for LCO. *we asked for more hangers we wait for 30 mins, 2 times we called at reception for such. *kettle rusty wait for 25 mins to change. *In the dustbin of bathroom there was used toothbrush, tissues & dirty pampers *Safe not working, so i called at reception to informed about same, the receptionist told me to wait, i called a 2nd time approx 30 mins to complain same again then afterwards someone came in my room trying to sort the matter out but unfortunately nothing can be done so he told me that he will come again. We wait till 17.30 nobody came in my room so i decide to go at the reception to complain again.As we were going out for a walk i told him to come later, then finally when i came in my room around 18.30 i called the reception to sent someone, that person came and fix the safe. *While taking shower the 1st day no hot water, handshower not working, i take my bath with cold water.Before dinner i went at reception to complain, after dinner they came to fix the handshower. *early in morning i was trying to switch on the lamp i got electric shock as the wire was faulty. The hotel & our agency knows that we want back our money. we are waiting for a prompt reply. This hotel is full of issues, unprofessional staffs, no proper information given. Not a single apologise from the management or the HSK named Olivia who was so unprofessional. Only two staffs were fantastic (Cindy from the HSK & Alex from the bar) they know their job & always smile and willing to help.

Nested in the quiet idyllic bay On the north coast of Rodrigues island, Is cotton bay hotel. It is one of the first hotels built on the island. It’s perfect for a family or a couple‘s holiday. The staff here are a joy and always ever so helpful. The cleanliness of the hotel is 2nd to none and the setting itself is like paradise, With fantastic views of the ocean from the balcony, this place revives your senses and invigorates you in so many ways. However Internet here is a little bit of an issue, you can only access it from the reception and the bar area – which is a little bit annoying especially when the WiFi Is quite slow, as all the guests use the same network. Making a WhatsApp call is almost impossible. Also, although breakfast and dinner are included in most packages drinks are not – not even water so get ready to fork out Rs.90 which is almost £2 for a litre of water every time you go for a meal. This is almost 5 times the price of a normal bottle of water bought outside the hotel. Also, the teas and coffees in the room are not complimentary, again at a hefty price of almost £2 each. Other than that there are plenty to see in this part of the island from some lovely beaches to some amazing walks, Rodrigues is a peaceful, quiet and green island which will appeal to many.

I can only add to what has been said others, stopped for lunch and the food and service was not great. Service from the bar was incredibly slow and the rest of the service even slower, with a full 3 tables there. Food was average. The front desk were friendly and helpful hence the 3 stars.

We visited Cotton Bay twice to do some scuba diving and spend a morning and lunchtime there each time. We had no experience of the bedrooms - but we can comment on the food and service. The food is some of the worst I have ever eaten in a hotel! The first day we thought we had just chosen badly - so tried something different on the second occasion. Sandwiches that were dry with no filling and cold chips. ..........and the pizza. What can I say!!! A vegetarian pizza on a base that was like a sponge cake and covered in peas, carrots and green beans! Yes carrots and peas on a pizza! It was completely inedible. The staff couldn't care less and so it wasn't worth complaining at the time. They really need to get a chef or at least someone who has prepared food before! It is a truly beautiful location though and despite the challenges of delivering a top class service on a remote island, it seems that the owners/management need some help to make this a proper destination hotel that warrants the prices they charge. The place we stayed was half the price and the food and service were much better.

As a gift to my mother in law for her 60th birthday, her kids and I offered to her and her husband as gift, a 4 day stay at Cotton Bay Hotel in Rodrigues. As soon as they set foot in the hotel, the welcome was just Soooo woooah. The GM, Mr Ashok welcomed them personally but also all the other guests who had just arrived. Although room checking was scheduled to be later, the hotel within 10 mins allocated them their room and such a delight for them. The room was good, food was good and personnel was so caring On the 2nd of May, my mother in law was so well cherished throughout the day by the hotel personnel as it was her birthday and at night during diner time, a wonderful surprise cake just came to her with everybody singing happy birthday... Her stay was so so so wonderful and they are planning to go again at Cotton Bay as they feel just like Home. Warm thanks to the hotel personnel. Congrats and thanks to the GM, Mr Ashok for the caring attitude and presence for all guests. I you want to relax and chill out.. The place to be.. Cotton Bay Hotel Rodrigues island.. You will just loooooove it

Beautiful island spoiled by a disastrous hotel. Food 👎👎👎 served COLD and tasteless. Birds everywhere in the dinning hall and they have their bites before you. Hygiene...😖😖 disgusting. Hospitality...😱 zero. Service 😪😪😪😪. Well below a 3 star. Needs to be pulled down. Cotton Bay Resort is NOT recommended.
