Ambassador Motel

The room was clean and comfortable but I think it's overpriced for what it is. The restaurant was out of action for renovations and they forgot to give me milk in the room so no coffee or tea in the morning which made me cranky! 😂 luckily there is a 24/7 truck stop right next door! I honestly wouldn't stay here if I didn't have a pet.

Motel is near a noisy highway. Rooms are old but clean inside. Windows are filthy and curtain is drawn making room permanently dark. No internet for guests. Don't recommend it. Overpriced. Close to shops

My partner and I overnighted on our way home to Airlie from Brisbane. We chose to stay at the Ambassador as they are pet friendly. We were very concerned at staying after reading the reviews on trip advisor, however I am happy to report that we did not experience any of the negative items reported by other reviewers. I believe this is due to the motel being under new management. The room was clean although dated, and the bathroom had recently been renovated. The entire property is generally aged and requires some facelift work. The room at $135 per night was expensive given that its aged and basic however when travelling with a pet the options are limited. All in all the room was clean and the new manager friendly.

Room was dirty, smelled of smoke, cigarette butt found in room, dusty, bed hard. If we weren't travelling with a doggie I would have driven straight past, but we had no choice though so we stayed, Need to update details,no pool,no bar,no restaurant,i would give a big miss unless you have a pet

While the room was VERY dated, that wasn't really the issue. The owner is obviously doing some much needed renovations and probably in about 3-4 months the rooms will be at a much better standard. The owner was friendly and welcoming but with all the improvements going on, needs to keep a better handle on the rooms present facilities. With 6 people in the room, we noticed there were only 2 coffee cups provided. There was a bath mat and towels, but no hand towel at all! These are small oversights that annoyed us more than the crappy décor. Parking was good for a trailer, with it not being visible from outside the quadrangle.

We stayed at the Ambassador overnight during a road trip. This was our second visit. Location The motel is located on the Bruce Highway more or less in the centre of Rockhampton. It's very convenient for a quick stay (we arrived late and left early). Rooms The rooms are surprisingly large for the price, and very clean. The bathroom was newly renovated and there were tiles throughout. The bed was very comfortable and there was more than enough space for our dogs' beds and for them to be able to move around. It's basic but that's exactly as advertised and to be expected at this price point. Motel The rooms are arranged in a u-shape around the carpark, with a shared concrete patio type area running around the rooms. This and the front lawn of the motel are pretty daggy and basic. Owner/Staff I didn't catch the owner/manager's name but he was very friendly and accommodating. We checked in late and were relieved to be able to buy milk and wine from reception, and order breakfast. He was also really great about us changing our reservation date at pretty short notice. Food The breakfasts were very reasonably priced. I was happy with mine (cheese and avocado on toast with tomato and mushrooms - all nice, though the toast was a little stale/chewy), as was hubby with his (bacon and eggs - no complaints). The wine was great :) Pet Friendly We chose the Ambassador for this reason, and it is genuinely pet friendly. Our dogs were allowed free range throughout our room (not on the furniture, of course) and there were quite a few other dogs there. It would be great if the front lawn was fenced - I seem to remember that it used to be. Overall we were really happy with the Ambassador as an easy, spacious and clean place to rest on our journey. The price ($109) seemed just right.

Stayed overnight on our way to Mackay. Easy to find being on the main route, close to shops etc and great that it was pet friendly. Dave was a great host both on the phone and in person and the check in was a breeze. It's not the Hilton but it provides quite, secure and the basic comforts you need. The room was a good size as too the ensuite. Had a jug, toaster and microwave, cups and drink making condiments. It also had a restaurant but due to the public holiday was not sampled. Would def stay here again if travelling with my pet.

The title says it all, this motel is clever in servicing the dog lover market, we travelled through and wanted a night in Rocky. Dave was helpful and booked us in, we paid an extra $20 for the dog to stay, a fair price when you consider extra cleaning. We ate from a Menulog choice, nice Indian food and they we accommodating and delivered. I'd recommend staying here for an over nighter, it ticked all the boxes

We stayed here overnight on the way to Brisbane, travelling with our (rather large) fur baby. Great place! Friendly check in, quiet and clean. Is on a main road but can't hear from room. Would definitely stay there again! Thank you

Great stay, fantastic price, clean room, comfortable beds, pool access and laundry which was great!. Pets are allowed in the room witch was nice. Friendly staff would definitely stay again. Highly recommended.
