Very friendly and helpfull staff that speak all necessary languages for a hotel. Half pension really recommended because of the good dinners. Pool area is also good for Italian standards. Apartment however is terribly outdated. Everything seems at least 20-25 years old if not older. Beds are thin and not comfortable. Bathroom is from the 1970s. Kitchen is hidden by a cupboard. Furniture is not of this age. Ant problem. No air-conditioning (not that is was necessary, but good to know). On the main building the sign indicates that they are in operation since 1958. And that really can been seen. Supposedly the hotel rooms have had an update. We stayed in one of the Appartments and they are not up to 2023 standards.

Stop looking and book it!

I don't know if I can truly do this beautiful place justice, but I will try. We ended up here by chance - and what a happy accident it was! This hotel reminds me of a blend of the hotel in Dirty Dancing and one from a Hercule Poirot story. It has been family owned and operated for two generations. It is absolutely lovely! The grounds are beautiful. While there on the weekend, there were at least 2 wedding receptions going on. I do not think I have ever seen a more beautiful venue for one. The inside of the hotel is so clean - the floors look freshly polished at all times. Our triple room had ample room and the bathroom was outstanding with a huge shower. The breakfast takes place in the basement or cellar. The buffet sported HOMEMADE pastries, cold cuts, delicious cheeses, fresh squeezed orange juice, and fantastic coffee. The pool is lovely and has a snack bar. The prices at the restaurant are more than reasonable. We loved it so much we decided to stay for an extra day.

Great views and scenery!

We enjoyed our 4 day stay in this lovely area surrounded by flowers and trees. Hotel was situated on a cliff with a river running below. It used to be an old mill and is run by the original owner's grandson. Our 5 person apartment was quite large compared to others I've rented in Europe and came furnished with linens, a small kitchenette, washer, small bedroom with tv, and a secluded outdoor seating patio under some wisteria or grape vines. Daily maid service was included in the price though breakfast was separate and consisted of the usual pastries, cheese, meats and eggs (omelets cooked to order). It was just breathtaking. You do need a vehicle to stay here if you intend to go anywhere other than the hotel since there was no town within walking distance. You can also just enjoy the onsite pool and sunshine. We had a great time driving the long, narrow (gasp) winding road up through the mountains towards Sanremo and saw some fantastic old towns perched on clifftops. Also nice was the trip to Dolceaqua and the walk through the castle ruins. I will definitely return there...great time had by all.

Some Good, Some Bad

This hotel is located in a great quiet beautiful location, the property is great, nestled into the hills with a river makes it romantic and relaxing. It is very rustic and has great decorations for the area. The restaurant served the most amazing food, well worth the price that might shock some. The issues I had were I stayed on a Friday night and they had a "lounge" singer. The music was pretty loud and it kept me awake for some time. I had a long drive and was very tired or I would have enjoyed it more.

Ask if there is a wedding going on...

We looked for this hotel to find something quiet for the night. We found an older hotel with hundred of stuffed animals hanging on the walls and a wedding party on the lower terrace (which was on the other end behind the hotel). We thought, all right, if the party goes back there, then we can sleep. But even our room was on the back next to the street, they moved the party next to the pool at 9pm and had loud music and were dancing late, so it was not an easy sleep. And who marries on a sunday evening anyways?

A night in the foothills

Nice location in the foothills of Italy. This location appears to be well suited for hikers, bicyclist, and hunters. Though the main buliding has aged, they maintained it in a good state. They have added some new additions that enhance the overall apperance of the hotel. The food in the resturant was very good and resonably priced.

Lago Bin close to Ventimiglia

Nice family owned establishment. Considerations to details. It earns well the three stars. Nice breakfast with fresh fried omelettes on request. Twenty minutes with car down to a not to crowded beach at the Italian riviera. If you are in to mountain and hiking this is the place to start from, see also canyoning. Many cyklists going up and down the road which was not to crowded by italian comparison. A place to relax at and where you can start your expeditons to the mountians and to the riviera.

Lago Bin Excellent first stop in Italy!!

It was our first stop in Italy and we wished that it was our only stop we had such a great time there we didnt want to leave..we did end up staying an extra night...Amazing food, The hotel room were spotless, and the boys loved the pool..the lifeguard was on the job and we felt so comfortable with the boys being in the pool and us just stitting by the bar..the views are just amazing i was left speechless didnt realise how wonderful the place was just from the pics a reall MUST GO!!!

I'll be back.

Needing an overnight stop just into Italy from France I feel we found a true gem. A little research of the route from the A10 paid off making it was easy to find. Less than 20 minutes drive. The large room with ensuite and balcony overlooking the gorge and river below was well appointed clean and comfortable. Located in the hills it was very quiet and peaceful. The numerous trophy heads of wild boar, deer, foxes, ducks and game birds in the reception area was not really to my wife's liking but was inkeeping with the rugged countryside round about. We will return and stay a few more nihgts to explore the area.

Really want to keep it a secret

This is such a charmingly unspoilt and very beautiful area of Liguria that we are almost unwilling to publicise it. The hotel was excellent and the reception staff spoke good English; however, air conditioning although installed was not operational, resulting in some mosquito bites. The breakfast is a full cold buffet, including electric fruit squeezers to make your own orange juice if you chose, but the owner will also scramble eggs, make crepes, or omelettes on demand. The good size swimming pool has bar, pool towels supplied, but shallowest section is 5ft. however, there is a seperate pool for children. The wearing of cloth head caps (supplied) is compulsory. Car is essential; the very pretty village, with two restaurants, is about 1km further but road is winding and without pavement so not comfortable for walking. Eating out anywhere in Europe is so expensive now that eating the good food in the hotel barely cost us more than driving out to restaurants. Better known Dolceacqua, about 5kms away has plenty of restaurants, where you can wash everything down with its speciality, the local red wine, Rossese.

Super séjour

passés 2 nuités en couple. Belle chambre avec grand lit et bonne literie, bercée par le chant des grenouilles, nous avons tres bien dormi. Endroit isolé et calme, petit balcon sympa avec vue sur la rivière en bas de la montagne. Très bon accueil, personnel sympa et avons très bien mangé. Hotel un peu vieillot, style Napoleon mais a son charme.Nous reviendrons.
