Stayed in an upgraded room. Nothing really stood out for it to be classified as an upgrade. The window looked out to the wall of the indoor swimming pool building and a bright light was on all night so we had no other choice but to have drapes closed tight all night. It was still visible as the curtains don't close tightly. As a one night stay option I wouldn't really recommend. Would be best as a multi-night stay to use amenities.

We have always stayed at Universel when driving from Shediac to Ottawa. Pretty close to halfway point. They accept our dog but with a $35 fee. Easy and quick checkin. The restaurant is fantastic (Le Boreal), highly recommend the sous-vide beef or pork cheeks. So freaking good and not overly expensive. Our only issue is the room heater would not shutoff no matter how I set it. So room was very warm. I’m sure they would’ve moved us but we were exhausted and didn’t want to repack.

We stayed on a Thursday night on our way to Montreal. We had a 9 and 10 year old who were very excited about the slide. Once there we were told the slide was closed and only open on the weekends due to staffing. The kids were disappointed but still excited about the pool. Five minutes later a young gentleman came from the front desk and turned on the slide and said he would stay as long as he could for the 2 kids. He stayed for over a hour and made the kid's night. Definitely above and beyond.
