This was an amazing hotel, within walking distance to the US Embassy which was the purpose of the trip. We ordered dinner our first night and the salad was absolutely amazing, my fiancee was raving about how excellent everything was. The morning after the inclusive breakfast was phenomenal, amazing selection of juices, lots of variety and you could really tell it was a Brazilian breakfast. The bathroom was very nice, we loved the overhead shower as well as the hand held sprayer. Overlooking the Santos Dumont airport and we could not hear the planes landing and taking off which was very surprising give the proximity. An inlet to the ocean as well as a view of the Pao de Acucar off in the distance was also very beautiful. I wake up earlier than most and got to see the sunrise and was amazed at the orange sky as the sun filled the day.
This is the first time I traveled to Rio. The hotel is located in city center-- accessible to metro and points of interest. I had very pleasant time during my stay. One suggestion to the management of the hotel is to train staff in English proficiency, so they can understand the customers’ needs in a better way.
Great service, clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff are making our honeymoon into a precious memory !
I stayed here with a friend for one night while we waited for our plane. The hotel is located right next to the domestic Santos Dumont airport and there is a constant flow of taxis in front of the hotel for getting around in a hurry. It is located near what I believe is the business district of Rio. It is easy to get around on foot from here as well. Great service and quick response for hotel staff.
This hotel is a short walk from Santos Dumont Airport. The room is typical business-class, comfortable, but small. The breakfast buffet, which is not included, is very elaborate with exotic nut and fruit juices, fruits, cold cuts and pastries. Coffee and tea are self-serve. The restaurant opens at 6:30, but on my visit the hot items (scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon) did not appear until 7:15, causing a problem for some guests with early flights or meetings. The hotel, while near, is not easy to find. Here are directions. Leave the airport by the doors farthest to your right leaving baggage claim. Walk across the street to a park, bearing right toward a pedestrian overpass. Cross over the overpass, turn left. Go to corner, turn right; go to next corner, turn right again. The hotel is midblock on the right. (The Ibis is just beyond and shares a taxi rank.) Yellow taxis cost $R55 to the international airport.)
Hotel does not provide money exchange convenience for guests.
When we arrived we were told the room wasn't ready but would be in 30 minutes. 1.5 hours later we were given a room. When we arrived in the room it had not been cleaned from the previous tenant. I called the front desk and also told the maid. We finally were moved to a clean room. The hotel was nice but a little over priced.
Novotel was very nice and clean. However homeless people were sleeping on the sidewalk just outside the hotel.
Novotels are generally pretty consistent throughout the planet. This one was a little on the small side, including room size. No pool, no real amenities, the restaurant is okay, the bar is poorly stocked. Good for a short stay.
A credible option for new years in Rio if one is not interested in $850/night - 5 night minimums at all the hotels in Ipanema and Copacabana, however transport to and from is an issue. This is a business hotel that is super close to the downtown Santos Dumont Airport and a short walk to downtown. It is next to an Ibis hotel as well.
Close to Airports, Copacabana, Ipanema, the City, it was actually closed to everything. Excellent price, super new, good food and attention to details plus free and good internet connection. A+
