We booked this hotel as it was one of the very few ones open at this time of the year; most of the hotels we passed by in Gabicce Mare were closed for winter, which is no surprise given that this is a seaside resort. The hotel, in spite of its grand name, is disappointing though. Although we had room with a nice sea-view and a balcony, it had two things which very annoying: the first one was a tiny TV set. Although this did not bother us too much, we watched a film in the evening and it was really too small for the size of the room. But this was by far not the worst feature, what really bothered us was an unpleasant smell that came from the bathroom. At first we thought it was temporary but it persisted the whole night and we could even smell this stench of canal from the bed. The staff was delightful and the breakfast was alright, but nothing special. We would have given this hotel definitely another star had it not been for this bad smell from the bathroom.
Despite my slightly negative title, I like staying here! Check-in is awkward, especially if you are in a car because the street is quite narrow and then, after you've climbed the steps with your luggage, they have to find a man with a car who you follow about a mile to the off-site underground car park! I love Italy. The sea view rooms are very dated but ok. But weirdly, there are no shower curtains over the bath so everything gets soaked! Why? The front terrace overlooking a small square and the sea is very pleasant, and it's a short walk to everything interesting locally. Wifi is a nightmare but breakfast is good. To sum up, this is an old fashioned seaside hotel that will have been quite grand in its day (like so many others nearby) but, as I said, somewhat strangely, I still like staying here!
The staff, the food, the room....it was so bad that we left one day earlier. The receptionists r rude and dont speak proper english. The rooms r out of date, and water in pool is very cold. Please avoid this place if u can!!!
We had to pass a labyrinth in order to get into the room. There're really scary mirrors and old-fashioned furniture all over the hotel. Good on the dinner wasn't tasty at all. Breakfast was normal. Room was comfortable and large. Beach was dirty.
Stayed there for a couple of days. At the time of our arrival, the room was still dirty. There was no phone in our room, and it was also pretty far from the hotel reception. Every single piece of furniture was damaged or dirty. Our queen size bed, was actually composed of 2 regular size beds, which made it uncomfortable for sleeping. The "handy" parking spot was something like 500mt away from the hotel. The wellness area and SPA seemed pretty dirty as well. Our breakfast was bland and definitely not what you would expect from a 4 stars hotel. I don't personally know who gives "stars ratings" to hotels in Italy, but this was NOT a 4 star hotel standard to us. The receptionists and the staff were kind despite of the hotel quality.
This was one of those 'wonderbox' 2 nights away that my husband had been given as a present. To be quite honest having read previous reviews i wasn't really looking forward to it but i have to say i was pleasantly surprised. It is rated as a 4 star and to be honest i don't think it is really quite up to that standard. Nonetheless the staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant. There is a lot of gold around the place and the decor is certainly not our taste but perhaps some people love it. The room was clean, the bathroom and towels all clean. We were given a room with t sea view. The terrace is a bit crumbling and tatty and could do with some upgrading but the position right on the sea was lovely. The food was average but more than acceptable including breakfast. I have to say after all my reservations i was pleasantly surprised.
I don't even know where to begin...stayed in September and all was well...returned 7 months later and it was horrible!!!! Checked in at 14:30, reception greedily demanded full pay for entire stay in advance AND that we pay for lunch that we didn't have! Kids even had to pay full price...didn't matter if only 18 months old. Restaurant staff were ok...I felt sorry for them. Final straw was when house keeping barged in just before check out time to start cleaning the room before we had a chance to get out...she was terribly rude (I politely tried to inform her of the faulty toilet, shower and bathtub so that the next guest wouldn't have to deal with it). Huge disappointment...it's like they really don't care. Two star hotels offer much more. MAI PIU!!!!
Nice hotel from outside - inside elegant but maybe just too opulent verging on kitsch. One of the ladies at reception very nice and helpful but found off-putting having to pay in advance. Good rate for weekend break. Room clean but ' tatty', cracks in the corners, rotting balcony and shower a disgrace and towels grey and stiff. Breakfast very disappointing, no cereals, no yoghurt, no fruit, no eggs and meats - just briosch, dried bread to toast and ' stale' cakes.
Visit in Jan 2015 Clean rooms but very slow elevator if you need faster use steps ;) no free WIFI Sea at 50 meters but nothing else at one km around Dead place in winter one pizza / one bank ;) Aggressive lady on reception (23/01) don`t pay attention to visitors a long time And when I ask to sell me a few easy bun for dinner near the sea - ask 4 euro for this ;) it is not a market! She sad Bodyguard don`t want to skip me inside restaurant but I live in hotel very funny :) === Don`t use "INDACO travel" company and Valentina like a curator - they will do all to destroy your rest and visit Italia. non professional, an look like a scam - no any check of payments!
Horrible hotel, reluctant staff, spoiled champagne for 150 Eur. Never again this hotel, which sells spoiled champagne and as an excuse to give more spoiled. Recognize a mistake but the money never give back.
