We had a great night at Hotel Tia. Very clean room and very good value. We paid about 32 euros for 2 people with breakfast. Breakfast was lovely. Selection of toast and meats. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Pretty basic hotel-our room certainly not anything like in pictures. Married couples still get given 2x single beds-they looked like kids bunk beds, taken apart! Very noisy-obviously not hotel's fault but jack hammering in main street until after midnight!! Lots of roadwork being done! Hotel walls are very thin..could hear the people next door (not shouting, just talking). At least 20 mins to Old part of city. Rather small shower. Basic breakfast. Part of a tour-would, so maybe the rooms allocated to tour groups are not as good as to private individuals.I would probably not recommend to others.
I stayed here for two nights during a business trip. Locations is quite OK. Rooms are bit small and really noisy due to busy street outside. Otherwise good value for the price. Buffet was more or less OK.
Nice and clean room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good wifi in room. A nice restaurant with ok prices, you can have a good lunch for €5, juice etc not included. What draws down is the noise from Valdemara Street, also in night time. I could not sleep with window open to get fresh air which I am used to.
We stayed in a twin room for 4 nights. Our room was clean and pleasant. The buffet breakfast was rich and delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. But the hotel is a bit far from the old town. It took us 15-20 minutes on foot. It was OK as we treated this as good exercise.
Stayed one night. Hotel has no outside neon sign, only a small poster sign on the side of the building next to the entrance, very hard to notice unless you know where it is. Mattresses are tolerable , but you can feel the springs if you sit. Walls are paper-thin. Breakfast is good except for "orange juice", but end at 10AM. so watch out. Parking is free, but limited by 10 spaces. Minibar was locked, but room was clean, not run down and usable for its purpose. The hotel is about 15 min away from the Old Riga, so it is so-so for tourism in winter. Overall OK value (paid $57 for 2 incl. taxes).
50€/night for a single room with incredible breakfast. The room's staff is very friendly and they've got special security for the night, so that everyone can feel extra safe. The only thing I disliked was the thin walls. You could understand what people from the neighbor room were talking about.
The rooms are clean but very basic and dated. The breakfast is not pleasant with no real choice. It's quite a walk into the main old town. Overall it wasn't bad value for money but I've stayed in much nicer hotels for the same price.
We stayed here during a tour of the Baltics. Location ghastly on a busy, noisy thoroughfare (where locals loved to race each other from traffic lights) and a good half hour from old town, restaurants and shops. Very small bedroom. The tiny bathroom was a joke. Toilet squeezed behind door. Towels obscuring toilet paper, narrow wash basin tucked up against wall with protruding shelf and hair dryer, which made using wash basin practically impossible, tiny shower cubicle with leaky door. The only saving grace was the better than average breakfast.
On the positives it was a clean and comfortable bedroom. However the hotel is situated a good 20 minutes walk from the old town. Other than a couple of local bars and small supermarket / shops there isn't much else close by. While I didn't feel at all unsafe wandering around alone, the nearby graffiti clad walls and run down buildings give an overall feeling of neglect to the area. There are two small lifts to the bedrooms but access to the hotel is via a flight of stairs so would present difficulties for someone with mobility problems. I was there for three nights and each night suffered a good deal of noise from speeding car and motor bike engines in the main road outside the hotel. Other guests with rooms sited with different outlooks told me they experienced the same problem. There was a small balcony but with the cracked masonry I would have reservations about using it. The bathroom was adequate yet needed redecorating with paint peeling from the wall. Breakfast was pretty basic and the orange juice tasted of powdered concentrate rather than fresh juice. There is a courtesy computer terminal in reception with internet connection. Unfortunately it wouldn't allow any executable functions (e.g. sending email) and the receptionists were unable to help to overcome this difficulty. In short the hotel needs a makeover. Even then lack of local amenities,, noisy nearby main road and distance from the old town would stop me re-booking if I ever returned.
