From the very helpful, informative and accommodating front desk staff to room service to my spa service provider, the staff was fantastic. My room was beautiful, spacious and had a bathtub! The location was very convenient to Old Town attractions, but far enough off the beaten path to cut down on outside noise from drunken revelers. Inside noise wasn't bad either, although the hotel does serve some party-oriented tourists. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated upon departure.
Overall, I liked the hotel fine. The location was very good - Riga isn't very big so everything is in walking distance - but the hotel is just a couple of blocks out of the way, and hence quieter. The complimentary breakfast is ample though not inspired. The lobby is small but has several computers available for use and free printing of boarding passes. My room was very small - a double bed that took up most of the space, no comfortable chair to relax in, but adequate closet space that included a safe and ironing facilities. The bathroom was a decent size, with everything one needs but with a liquid soap dispenser not real soaps and shampoos. The one real drawback and negative was the poor lighting; it was very difficult to read.
I chose this hotel based on proximity to the bus terminal. Walking to it - I did see a couple other hotels that would have been closer to the bus station. The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was small. If it were not for the tiny shower I would have given the hotel a much higher rating. I am not sure how to describe how tiny the shower was. At 6ft 175 lbs I am not the largest person around but it was very tight in the shower. Unfortunately with the size of the rooms I am not sure that there is anything they could ever do to make the showers larger. The TV channels were blurred but because I checked in late and was leaving early I did not worry about this. The breakfast at the hotel was the best I had on this trip to Europe (5 different hotels). I like to try local foods for breakfast and this hotel had that. If you are looking for an American breakfast go elsewhere. The hotel was less than a 5 min walk to the city center. The AC didn't really work and they had signs posted about this that looked like they had been there for awhile so I think this must be an on going issue. With the window open I was able to cool the room down.
In between the bus station, centaur market and old town. Perfect location. Some rooms are a little small but not too small.
Very small rooms: you do not want to spend any not neccessary time in! You have 50cm to walk around between all furniture put in these small rooms. Very clastrophobic small shower and bathroom! Breakfast very average! Compared to same Wellton group hotel Hotel Riga & Spa, very dissapointing as you expect in all group same standard! But the stuff is very friendly and professional - they made a difference! But for sure it was our first and last stay at this hotel in Riga, where we return at least once per year, as we just love this city!
Good hotel, but: too small room and too noisily around( The most unpleasant thing is - always after cleaning the air conditioner was set to + 18C, for me it's too cold:)
I've been to Riga several times, every time a new hotel. Didn't really care much about where I was staying, but this one - I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was amazing, very friendly. I really liked the location and how quite it was. Best trip to Europe so far.
This Hotel is near to the heart of the "old town". The reason We were visiting Riga was for pleasure, visiting frends and making new ones. The Hotel is not equiped with a bellman or restaurant. This Hotel is just a place to stay and sleep, nothing else. Although You might think that this was a negative description, it's not. The hotel rooms were small, with comfortable beds.
Went for a conference. The breakfast could be a little better - I do not mean quantity - the variety was there. I would work on quality. The room was a bit noisy. The stuff could be a bit more helpful - helping calling to US (they told t\us they do not know how to call 1-800 numbers and were not willing to help), checking out 0 one person started checking us out and then got on the phone for about 15 min. - we did not know if we were checked out or not and just stood there).
