Good hotel , nice location, polite staff, breakfast changes every day. Rooms could need a bit of renovation , but generally you get what you pay. Friendly prices. Underground parking available for extra pay.
Me and my husband stayed for 3 nights here. We arrived about 2am and were treated by reception. The rooms were very welcoming. Full mini bar if require. Personal TV message to welcome us and the heating all ready on! As for breakfast we were a little dissappointed. It didn't really cater for English too many cold options. The toaster was also broken so we couldnt even have toast it a kind staff member did fetch us some bread from the oven. Location is ok it's a short bus ride from the hotel to the old town ( bus tickets can be bought at the petrol garage next door) cost a couple of euros one way. Taxi there ashore price is €10. The bar is very expensive was €15 for 2 single gins and one tonic! Overall good hotel clean and modern , and helpful reception staff. but if we returned we would stay more central for ease of no taxis.
Well appointed hotel. Room not massive but adequate for base for sightseeing. Staff bit surly on arrival and though we had booked a twin room were told only doubles available. as two married female friends we insisted it was sorted and eventually was. Were not told how to operate lift. This was really only negative. Good choice for breakfast and good quality. Restaurant service efficient and food well presented and tasty. About 20 minute bus journey from old town. Make sure if using the bus you locate the return stop as it is not on the other side of the road as it would be in UK! good free internet connection.
Stopped here for three nights and was really pleased the hotel was great just a 10 minute bus ride from the airport (ideal ) the rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious and the bathroom was so bright and airy it was a credit to the girls that look. after the rooms all the staff where very pleasant and they couldn't do enough for you namely Rudolf's in the bar and full marks to Inger thanks for charging my phone would definitely choose this hotel next time I call to Riga tip for anyone who gets the bus come out of the airport and in front of you you will see the carpark walk to the back of the carpark and on the right you will see the bus stop number 22 the fare is 2 euros and ask the driver to let you know when to get off the zebra crossing will be at the back of the bus and believe it or not the traffic actually stop
I've been to the hotel as a group manager. Good location - not far from the airport as well from the city center. Welcoming reception. Although a bit disappointed from the dining room - not wide and notice of selection. Expecting for more from 4 stars hotel. The rooms are wide enough and with welcoming kit. The bath is higher the the floor and need to pay attention when you getting from it.
Whilst the hotel was clean and comfortable, there were a number of shortcomings. We were 'greeted' by Sergei who looked up and simply uttered 'your room is not ready'. No 'hello' or 'welcome'!! When we returned to book in it took 40 minutes - no apology or attempt to speed up the process. The rooms are basic but satisfactory. The bar is also the restaurant - there is no separate dinking or eating area and the breakfast lacked variety and was certainly not appetising. The hotel is a 5 - 10 minute drive from the centre - about 5 euros each way, but by the time you have made 4 trips a day, you could have stayed in the centre. Very convenient for the airport however. Nice bar staff!
I ended up in this hotel by chance as I arrived in Riga at around 7 am. It is not far from the airport and was recommended by my taxi driver. Upon arrival I was told that there is a room available for me but that check-in is only at 2 pm. Since I had no place to go, I was just sitting at the lobby waiting for the time to go by. The only problem was that it was extremely cold in the lobby. They have an electric door that was just opening all the time and therefore the cold just took over the lobby floor. So I approached the receptionist that checked me in and asked her to get my room earlier. After waving me off at a very very unfriendly fashion, she spoke to her colleagues and returned to me with an answer that early check in would cost me almost the same amount I paid for the one night stay. I told her right away that I want to cancel my room and get my money back. Only then did her superior come out to me with a smile and said that my room will be ready in 30 minutes if I would consider staying without any extra charge. Since I was exhausted and cold I agreed and got my room around 10:30 am. It probably took me over an hour of laying in bed to get my normal body temperature back. So, the hotel itself, the room and the location is pretty good. Even the room service I ordered was quite nice. It is located on the other side of the bridge from the city centre. But it's close to the airport and to the US embassy in case you plan to visit. I think nowadays with everything being so digital you have to be double as attentive to your customers than before. Especially when it comes to hotels. It's not a question of doing something out of the ordinary, just human friendly interactions. I understand it was early in the morning and that this receptionist probably had a night shift but still, why be so rude? Thankfully we had a happy ending here and the remainder of my stay was pleasant.
This is a very modern hotel, located just outside the centre (5 mins by bus that runs very frequently and until late). The staff is very helpfull and kind. Only thing I disliked was the fact that the rooms weren’t very soundproof. My room was located near the road, and it could get kinda noisy at times, but nothing some earplugs can’t fix!
Shouldn't really complain about the Rixwell Elefant for the price we paid. Very clean, nice enough rooms, comfortable bed and decent bathroom. Iron and ironing board in each room.Hospitality tray, but sadly the only coffee sachets provided had whitener added and as we only drink our coffee black this wasn't suitable for us, no whitener or milk provided for tea, spoke to reception who said they couldn't help us and suggested buying our own coffee which we did, although the barman kindly provided us with fresh milk. Breakfast buffet good, some slightly odd choices but fairly good selection overall. Nice bar, drinks not particularly cheap. Ate in restaurant on our final night, food was ok but nothing special for what we paid, wine expensive. The restaurant was rather chilly as was the bar area because they are so close to the hotel entrance, it would be freezing in the height of winter Hotel is out of town, approximately 15 minutes by taxi depending on the traffic . We always chose to get a taxi to and from the old town (there were four of us which cut costs) on average with a tip we paid no more than 10 euros, the bus would have been slightly cheaper but getting a cab meant no waiting around! Certainly for what we paid it was a great value hotel.
lovely hotel, staff very helpful, rooms kept lovely and clean, breakfast was adequate,a mixture of buffet foods, not to everyones taste, had dinner in the restaurant and it was lovely, great food good service, the white elephant in the room was delightful
