Clean reasonably sized rooms, friendly staff, prime location - just around €6-10 for a taxi to take you to the city centre. The only negative that I shall say is that the EU early hadn't discovered Andrex yet, as the toilet paper is what I can only describe as sand paper.
The hotel is situated about a 40 minute walk (6 euro taxi ride) from the old town. We had a triple room which was very large and included a double and 2 single beds. The bathroom was nicely presented and had a powerful shower. The cost was low and as such this review does reflect that however it wasn't worthy of 5 stars for a couple of reasons. Firstly the breakfast was poor, lacked choice, bread was stale etc. Secondly the toilet paper was unnecessarily sand paper like. All in all I would return but pack a couple of cushelle to go with me.
This hotel was not to far from the centre so location is ok. The bedroom it’s self is quite small and very very warm but I suppose you can complain when your in -9 temperatures. Staff are friendly and hotel was clean.
The hotel is simple, but clean, cozy and comfortable. Not far away from the city center. Staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfast included in the price is worth that. Food is fresh and tasty, and lasts till 11am.
Stopped here while passing by Riga to south. It's in the city but probably far from any attractions. There's a hotel parking lot so I felt safe leaving my car there. There's a supermarket across the street. The breakfast is really good. My only complaint is that the walls are not sound proof. The neighbors weren't too noisy but I heard the rain so loud that I couldn't sleep. The bed wasn't too comfortable either.
The setting for this hotel is odd. It sits in a pot-holed courtyard behind what looks like a semi-derelict wooden house and there is a huge transmitter mast at the back. The view on Streetview wasn't encouraging. But appearances are deceptive. This is an old building - the former HQ of Latvian Radio (hence the mast!). But it has been superbly transformed - the interior is that of a modern budget hotel. It is clean, the rooms are sizeable, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are roomy and we never waited long for the lift. The breakfast is a self-service buffet which includes cooked breakfast, cold items - all options covered. The staff are efficient and friendly. On leaving we asked if we could leave our luggage for the day as our flight was in the evening - no problem! Phoning for a taxi - "Can I do that for you, sir?" No charge. The hotel is not 4 or 5 star - it's not carpeted and there's no room service. But I've stayed in many 'better' hotels that don't get it right like this place does. And the punch-line - less than 20€ per person per night! Don't be put off by the location - the tram goes from the nearby crossroads and is five stops from the centre - 1.15€ per trip. There is even a ticket machine at the tram stop. Make sure you have a ticket - we witnessed a sudden inspection by a team of eight inspectors. (I felt a bit sorry for the family who got hauled off the tram!) There are also plenty of shops nearby including a modern supermarket opposite.
We (4) booked for 3 nights. Good accessible from airport (Taxi and public transport) and not far away from the old city. The hotel was clean und the staffs were really friendly. The breakfast for 8 euros looked nice but we dined mostly at nearby cafes. Good hotel for medium budget.
I was here as part of a air/hotel package deal. The hotel is situated in the Agenskalns area, right next to the big Agenskalns Tirgus (Market). There are 2 supermarkets within a block of the place as well as a small inside mall containing a nice bakery, cafe, Dzintars perfume shop, etc. I had a 2-bed room on the 5th floor. It was spacious with a nice wardrobe, writing desk, as well as a spacious, clean bathroom. The hotel (located in the old offices of the radio or television studios (look for the huge old antenna right behind it). Breakfast was great and the staff (all multi lingual, including Russian and English) were very friendly and helpful at all time. They also serve dinner, but didn't try that out. Room was cleaned every day. Spotless. They are located on a tram line that goes right to the Central Market in Riga as well as several bus lines, which also get downtown in about 10 minutes or so. It's about a 9 EUR cab ride from the airport. Would stay there again!
Good points - Good hotel, very clean and in a quiet location. Great price for those on a budget. Receptionist very friendly and welcoming. Room was decent size for two of us, impeccably clean and the bathroom was big & also super clean. Breakfast was decent, buffet with something for everyone's taste and included in the price. There is a supermarket nearby to buy extras like bottled water or snacks. Bad points - It's a fair walk to the city centre but that's why this hotel is cheaper than others. There is a bus that you can take but we preferred to walk off the beers we'd had.
Reasonably good hotel off the center but still in reach. Quiet rooms of an ok size. Clean. Bathroom was big but there were not shelves to put toiletries... Breakfast is ok, served in a depressingly dark room.
