Stayed 4 nights at Hotel Bergs in late July. Our room was spacious, with a small kitchenette, large bathroom and super comfy large bed. Breakfast was amazing with perfectly cooked eggs to order plus an array of fruit, cereals, seafood, meats, etc. The service from all staff was first class, but in particular we received exceptional help from Liga on reception who tracked down our luggage lost in transit from Norway, in contrast to the airline that lost it who didn't seem the least bit interested. Hotel is in a great area with excellent restaurants, cafes and wine bars close by, and easy walking distance to the old town and Art Nouveau areas. Would highly recommend this hotel and deserves it's high ranking on TA.
Hotel situated 10 minutes walk from the Old Town so nice and quiet..our suite very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Mattress extremely comfortable. We were in Riga for a wedding...I was given a bunch of flowers by a guest and placed them in the sink in the kitchen area...forgot about them and then found that the chambermaid had put them in a love!y vase...attention to detail without asking. Would love to visit their hotel in the countryside...
Hotel itself is great ! Room was very spacious. Staff is very friendly and helpful . Hotel is a little bit away from old town , but still walking distance . The only problem is a construction site nearby which will exist until end of the year . This is not depend on the hotel , but still....
Loved this boutique hotel - an eclectic mix of contemporary architecture, old European brick walls, with elements of African art tastefully put together. My room was spacious and the bed warm and comfortable. I liked having the balcony that overlooked part of the city, and allowed fresh air into the room The bathroom was a bit cold, and the bathtub/shower combination did not work. Loved the little shops and restaurants outside that felt like an extension of the hotel. The hotel was a good 10 minute walk to Old town, but there were plenty of things to see on the way. The staff was efficient, and courteous.
As soon as we walked out of our taxi we were greeted by two courteous, well-dressed, professional employees welcoming us to the hotel. From then on it was clear that this was a first-class hotel. Mārcis Gauručs manages a top-notch team that you feel in both the check-in and check-out service, the cleaning staff and the wonderful ladies that attend to you at the morning brunch were also very professional. All courteous and proficient at English, the service at this hotel could not be better. Our room was wonderful - spacious, with a comfortable bed, large bathroom with dual sinks, and both a living room area and bar to enjoy when not in bed. Our room (#428) overlooked the bazaar shops below and was very quiet save for the birds that insisted on rising early both nights of our stay! The location is outside of the old town, but just a 10-minute walk down a major thoroughfare, so no major problem. Also within easy walking are the Central Market, Nativity Cathedral and Vermanes Garden. The area around the hotel, like most of Riga, has some interesting architecture. During our stay the old historic house on the hotel grounds and an old building across the street were under renovation. Our room faced the back of the hotel, so none of this construction was an impediment to our sleep or enjoyment. I highly recommend this hotel!
We stayed here for three nights initially in a Studio Apartment but were upgraded to a Penthouse suite. Great rooms with plenty of amenities but the service was not ideal...when asking for Tea the rather slient member of staff pointed to a single Green Tea bag. When we eplxained we would like more, the same tea bag was pointed to...Still, it is a fairly central base to explore from and the breakfast was superb. Restaurant was closed for refurb wehn we visited (June 2017). It is worth a visit but try to get a large discount as list prices are not really worth it.
Apart from the building work outside preventing pretty outside space to sit and restaurant to close this hotel is great. Studio suite huge with all mod cons. Huge bed with quality bedding and pillows. Shower in bath needs attention but lovely toiletries and soft towels. Good location for old town, 12 mins walk. One niggle. We stayed 4 nights and were not made aware of the breakfast menu until day 3, we assumed the buffet was it. No menu on table, but we did order from it days 3 and 4 and the eggs benedict is wonderful!! Waiter service a bit chaotic as no table allocation of staff so were asked by several staff if we wanted tea/coffee etc. Reception staff very helpful, booked a restaurant table in city for us and ordered taxi to airport (15 euros.). Very friendly staff who all spoke English. Food quality and choice at breakfast excellent....order the freshly squeezed juices. Definitely recommend this small luxury hotel.
We stayed at the Hotel Bergs in early June for 3 nights - what a lovely find! On arrival we were lucky enough to be upgraded to one of their duplex penthouse rooms which was stunning. It was modern, spotlessly clean, spacious and came with everything you could possibly want in a room - lots of wardrobe space, a balcony, a walk in closet with ironing board, an espresso machine, a small fridge, complimentary water that was replaced each day etc. Breakfast is included and was super - great strong coffee, freshly squeezed juices on request, a good buffet and plenty of choices from the cooked menu. The restaurant was closed for dinner for refurbishment during our stay but if breakfast was anything to go by I'm guessing evening meals there would be delicious! That said we hardly had to go far for dinner - there is a restaurant outside the front door (subject of another 5 star review) and the hotel stands in front of a small complex of shops and restaurants so if tired after a day of sightseeing you're only 5 minutes from a bite to eat. The team running the hotel from day to day are super efficient and very helpful. If you're planning a stay in this lovely, lovely city you really couldn't pick a better place to stay.
Five of us traveled to Riga together in late May 2017 and stayed at Hotel Bergs. Each of our rooms was a little different, but they were all great. They were so spacious and well outfitted with refrigerators, microwaves etc., that we were able to comfortably share a bottle of wine or champagne together in any one of our rooms. I really liked that there were several tables in the room and the closets and bureaus were so roomy that we had more than enough space to unpack. The breakfast was lovely with very good and friendly service. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for dinner due to the construction in front of the hotel, but we were still very happy we stayed at the Bergs.
Small luxury hotel, great service, excellent stuff, very good breakfast, brilliant room and good location. Fully equipped with proper kettle, coffee maker etc. Will be suitable for leisure and business stay
