This hotel is old world charm to the max even with slanted floors and low beams which could be head bonkers for the unwary. Since it is very central there is no need for a guided tour from here--everything is within easy walking distance. The top floor restaurant us a must, even though the deck is open during good weather it appears to be usable during inclement weather. Breakfasts were very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Ideally located. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed for 3 nights, 8 'lads' in 4 twin rooms, all the rooms were a good size and with lots of character. Hotel was in a great location close to city centre. Great Hotel, Great Breakfast and very friendly service would definitely use again if back in Riga

Nicely decorated public spaces and nice rooms (in an old fashioned way), very professional staff and very nice breakfast. Did not use the rooftop restaurant but I'm sure that's very nice too. This hotel is in the old town so we expected some noise and chatter at night. However... the hotel is opposite a bar (note, a street level bar, not a basement nightclub) that has a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays playing thumping music until 3am. In a room down the side of the hotel it's an annoyance e.g. you can't open the window. In a room at the front it's like being in a tent at a festival. While not the hotel's fault it was a big downside to our stay.

The hotel breathes history, with a touch of class. Location is very central, in the city centre with all hotspots at walking distance. Clean, good bed an good breakfast. Curious thing we asked for our car returned 'in an hour' from valet parking turned out it was blocking the street for almost half an hour. Anyway, good value for money and very comfortable.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Gutenberg's for five days in August and enjoyed our stay very much. We had a very large room in the old building which faces a narrow and quiet road. So we had no trouble with the noise from bars and restaurants on Friday and Saturday night. We could hear the music but it was not annoying at all. The bathroom is nice and very clean and the bed is perfect, actually the best hotel bed I have ever slept in. The staff is very helpful and everything is well kept and clean and the location of the hotel is absolutely in the top. The breakfast is excellent without being flashy. I’ll recommend The Hotel Gutenbergs without any hesitation.

This is the oldest hotel I've ever stayed in. Reception was friendly and very helpful. My room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The en-suite is a bit cramped so if you're a large person you may find it a little difficult to use. Free in room wifi and air conditioning is always a plus for me. The roof top restaurant is very nice with a great view of the surrounds, the food is pretty good too. Breakfast was not bad but I've had better and with more variety.

Gutenbergs is designed to replicate a 19th century hotel, but is very much up to date with all the amenities. Our room was clean and comfortable, and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The decor is charming. We must have been in the newer addition to the hotel, as we did not experience the noise problems others have reported. The breakfast included with our room was plentiful, with cold cuts, cheeses, smoked salmon, sausages, bacon, eggs scrambled and boiled, salads, fresh fruits, yogurt parfaits, and pastries.

This is an excellent small hotel, ideally located just a few yards from the Dom Cathedral and Square. The staff are friendly and efficient and the rooms are comfortably furnished. The buffet breakfast is also very good.

The noise from people walking in the room above and from the room next door (hours on the cell phone) was bad. This is an old building without soundproofing. New windows blocked most street noise. Earplugs are a necessity. Other than that, my stay was fine. Old-fashioned decor (perhaps "frumpy" to some) gave some charm. Good breakfast. Room nicely furnished but carpet dirty from age.

The hotel is a stone' throw from the Cathedral. The junior suite was very spacious.Bed extremely comfortable. The bathroom was ok but quite small and not 4 star by any standard. Wifi worked fine as did tv. Breakfast was good with a nice selection.Hotel staff friendly. They forgot my wakeup call at 5am but my iphone didnt forget.
