To be positive, this hotel is in an excellent location with air conditioned rooms and good wifi connection, but that's about it. My room was tiny with a threadbare carpet, tired furniture, and lacking such basics as a bedside table or tea / coffee making facilities. The staff were not especially friendly, the breakfast mediocre (cold eggs and sausages that should have been warm), and the bar closed on the dot of 11pm - not what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. On top of that, you have to show your hotel card each time you wish to gain access to the premises. For the money, there are many better options in the viscinity and I shall not be returning.
Be careful about booking this place. We arrived on Tuesday 8th August only to find the gates shut and two security blokes on the door. We finally managed to speak to a very helpful lady who allowed us to use their WiFi to book another hotel. Bookings.com were also very helpful. But it was sad to see families arriving and being turned away.
Didn't receive a single smile from the staff, no thank you, no goodye. Poor atmosphere. Hotel breakfast was poor and there were too many guests staying at the hotel, it seemed as if they weren't prepared for it with the food because we were in fact hungry after the last breakfast. Very amateurish in my opinion. Furthermore, breakfast tableware was the cheapest from Ikea - rather embarrassing considering the hotel's overall style. The location is good, room was nice and cleaniness ok.
Hotel is located in Riga city center, few meters from Blackheads House. It is old style hotel with small rooms, but sufficient for short night stay. Great service, hospitality and very good breakfast . No own parking, you can left keys on reception and they will park your car somewhere for 20 eur/day or you can on parking behind the hotel for 30 eur/day. Which was more convenient for me because we had to go several times to car fordifferent staffs
In the old town. Friendly staff. Good bar. Has a lovely courtyard. Rooms are what you would expect for size, but clean with a very modern bathroom. Good wifi. Elevator. Exceeded expectations. I didn't try the breakfast or the restaurant.
This is a very good value for money hotel at only €192 for 4 nights B&B for 2 adults and this review is reflected in the price we paid. Hotel Public areas - clean and sufficient for the size of the hotel. Room - Basic but clean, comfy beds with a fridge handy to stock up from the supermarket on the same street. Warm shower. Bar - Small but nice with lovely bar staff. Breakfast - Very basic and we only ate in there once but for what we'd paid we couldn't grumble. We either ate in a restaurant or got a coffee and pastry from the supermarket. Security - The hotel is gated and you need to show your card before entering which is very secure. Positioning - Prime location, €11 in a taxi from airport. Once there everything is walking distance. Overall a fabulous city break and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotels after reading some of the negative comments. If your not wanting to spend a fortune and want to be central this s the hotel for you.
First of all, the location of this hotel was superb. House of the Blackheads is literally across the road and a 100 second walk. What I also liked about this was that the bus station was also just a 5-10 minute walk away, very handy if you do arrive in Riga by bus. The hotel lobby area was very nice, though it did give a bit of a false impression of the rest of the hotel. The rooms were very tired. Worn carpets and furniture. I wish I could say that this added to the 'charm' of the hotel, but it didn't. Only one (of two) windows actually had a curtain. Similar story in the bathroom, tired and worn out. Quite a lot of noise coming from next door too. Could hear every footstep. Had an issue with the hairdryer in the room. It didn't work. Had a replacement that lasted the full hair-drying experience (if you're thinning out, like me) of 15 seconds. After the next replacement 'went missing', we left for the day and eventually had the problem sorted by the time we got back to the hotel. Looking back, an amusing comedy of errors. Overall, a place with potential. Refurbishment needed before it realsies this potential.
The hotel is super close to the city center and to the bus stop for bus nr22 to and from the airport. The location is beautiful and the whole structure is really clean and safe, the staff is very polite: the receptionist helped us A LOT with to do/to see advices and looked up timetables for us.
The only good thing was the location. The rest I'm afraid was less than perfect. Dark and dingy reception and corridors. Room was small, headboards badly stained. The cleaner was meticulous, in so far as , she would find your loose change no matter where it was!!!!, unfortunately she wasn't so meticulous at the actual cleaning. Breakfast, well, on two occasions we had to leave and go back later as the tables hadn't been cleared and there was nowhere to sit, and no one around to clear them. Breakfast was not replenished, when it was done, it was done. When there were " hot " items, they were freezing cold!!!!! Juice was diluting, not fresh. The staff were surley at best, and not helpful at all. So, if all you want is a good location, this is the place for you, otherwise look elsewhere.
The Hotel is Old, is definitely needs to be renovated, even a furniture is old and begs for replacement. Breakfast. At 9:45 it was nothing to eat, no eggs, no sausages, even baked beans marmite was empty. Only bread and couple pieces of cheese and some salemi. The Location is Incredible it is in center of Old City, but the is no free parking place. you have to pay 2.5 euro per hour. Extra bed for kid, cost me 20 euro. Definitely no 4 star hotel, Maybe more 3 or even 2 star Hotel.
