If you want to use a minibar you must carry your oen bottle opener with you. Heating is poor and cause of high celings it takes long time to heat the room with electrical battery that you must turn on yourself. Before taking bath, check if the shower handler is working or you finish up taking shower under the tap. Carpets in the room where worn and dirty. And the hotel is not suitable for families with small children - stairs.

The only plus of this hotel is the location! Breakfast also ok. The room was cold, super old and not comfortable. Everything in the room is labeled individually like in a museum. Shower drain was very locked, creating a feets bath.... The staff don't speak English, they are unwelcoming and unprofessional. The security by the entrance gate make me feel like entering into a jail....

Very good location. But I think that's about it. Other than that, the room is so old. My room has no view whatsoever. And the bed is super super soft that it made my back ache. Lighting inside is also very dim. And the staffs simply just don't smile at all. Also, they have guards at the front door checking everyone going in and out. I'm sure that's for safety reason. But on the flip side, it gives you a sense of whether you are actually in a safe area or not. Kind of a strange procedure to me.

Hotel in the centre of Riga, old building with high rooms and decorated like a palace. Good (not great, but good) breakfast, ok rooms. Excellent location next to old town and tram/bus stop. Price/quality ratio excellent, at least in off-season. Pillows were a bit thin.

This is not a boutique hotel but it does offer some interesting décor and features with a small garden forecourt with fountain set back from the main drag so fairly quiet in comparison to other locations. It is very easy to get to from the airport - only 1.5euros on the 22 bus if you buy a ticket at the machine or 2 euros if you pay the driver. There is also a coach shuttle - no 222 which is 3 euros. It takes about 20 minutes from the airport - the bus stop is the first stop after driving over Stone Bridge. The hotel is located over the road - just take the underpass and you are there!

Although the location was fine, this is where it starts and ends. I have been to Riga previously but the Old town has been refurbished, and not in a good way, to similar, over-priced, average, no identity tourist restaurants, that could be anywhere in Europe, But the hotel, one of the worst, if not the worst breakfasts available, where for instance there was one functional coffee machine that people had to queue up for. Little fruit, no selection of food and limited, cheap bread and cheese. Hot food was hardly existent, with cheap tinned sausages. When we complained about the breakfast over the weekend, there was no management available, though, sort of helpful receptionists. Overall breakfast 1/10. To have a safe, none in the rooms, they wanted to charge €1.5 euros a day, though due to ineptitude this was never put on the final bill. The room was tired, dark, with no real wardrobe space and drawers that stuck. Little to no space if you had wanted to stay a week with a large suitcase, which, thankfully we did not. Bathroom was just adequate, though, needing of refurbishment, as was the whole hotel. I have been all over Europe and stayed at many hotels, this unfortunately was in the bottom three. Apart from location as stated, there is nothing to recommend about this hotel, even the bar closed at 11pm and we were forced to drink up dead on! There are better hotels in Riga for the same price.

This is not the best hotel I have stayed at but for the money I paid the location was great and on the plus side there was security on the gates. I was staying on my own for 4 nights so I stayed in a single room. It wasn't great but okay for what I needed it for as I didn't spend much time in there apart from sleeping. On arriving I noticed there was no safe and I called downstairs but no one answered. I asked on reception on my way out and you have to pay 2 euros a day and the safes are by reception. I felt safer locking my passport and some money in my suitcase. This was the first thing I wasn't pleased about. When I climbed into my bed in the evening the duvet smelt of BO so I was not impressed but it was too late to be bothered to go downstairs and I was tired. The breakfast was okay. I had read bad reviews about it in advance but I thought it was fine and always hot. I always got a table. However, I did go first thing when the doors opened as I wanted to be out sight seeing so I suppose this was why mine was fine and I always got a table. I asked for a wake up call a couple of times and this happened. It surprised me as it was written on a scrap of paper with other notes on it but it was done. I ordered a taxi to pick me up from the airport and everything was fine. On Friday I checked on my taxi for Monday and they had no log of it so I told them what I required. I double checked on the Sunday that it was done for early the next morning and again no log so re-entered again but it did arrive as planned. The hotel was ideal for location, the money I paid, the security on the gate but I wasn't impressed with the duvet smell or having no safe. Other than the duvet smell the room was cleaned and hovered. The BO smell might have been due to it being an old place and might have been just a musty smell - which I tried telling myself when laid in bed!! I would recommend for location and the staff were friendly and helpful I could not fault them they did a good job and made sure my taxi was sorted out. The security staff were also very pleasant always smiled and wished me a good day and I had no problem with them and it made me feel safer being a solo traveler.

Not a great hotel could do with a refurb but you get what you pay for. Was very well priced for the 3 nights we stayed there and didn't spend alot of time around the hotel during day. The breakfast was very poor. It is in a nice location and walking distance to alot of nice sights around the beautiful old town.

First of all, the worst experience is because they have deposit from my Credit Card and not giving it back for months (Thieves !!!) In addition, when we arrived the staff wanted to trick us and give two single beds instead of double one (which we ordered). Secondly, in the room there were no shampoos, shower gels, the accommodation was dirty and loud. Breakfast very cheap... The Worst Hotel Experience EVER

At the arrived, our room smelt of cigarette smoke. We told with the reception, and they change our room. The second room was plenty of flies, so we told again with the reception, and they change again our room. I have to say that the staff was very helpful and give us alternatives to our claims. The new room had a snot on the wall, the tv had not the power cable, the mobles had several scratches and the cleaning was poor. But we were exhausted and we spent our time visiting Riga.... On the positive side: The breakfast is by far the best of the hotel, the location in the middle of Riga center and I said a friendly staff. As curiosity, they take seriously the security. There is a janitor just for opening the main door of the hotel. In general, the hotel needs a urgent and complete refurb to meet the standard of quality of a 4 stars hotel
