Overall this is a nice hotel, although situated in an old building, the interior and rooms are modern and nicely decorated. Service from all staff was first-class, especially on reception. We stayed in an attic room which although looks great, had a sloped roof straight above the head of the bed which we banged our heads on a couple of times. The temperature of the shower was a little temperamental, fluctuating from hot to cold (mentioned to reception). Breakfast was OK and we could fill up for the morning with the selection on offer. To have an evening buffet meal on offer is good but could do with a vegetarian option. Location of the hotel is good and is just outside of the area where most of the action is.
very nice rooms, nice breakfast. nice staff. the bed was comfortable. The only downside was that in our bedroom, there was no blinding curtains... the sun started shining in our face in the middle of the night. otherwise we enjoyed very much. when we come back to riga- we will definitely come stay there again.
Location: is great, old town is no more than 10 minutes on foot. Room: simple, there were no iron, no slippers, also, water that is in the room on the table is charged. Also, the downside of the room is bed. It has a huge gap between 2 mattresses. Food: huge variety to choose from and the taste was good as well. Free water/coffee/tea 24/7, breakfast 6am-11am (not sure), dinner 6pm-9pm. Staff: one of the best things in the hotel! Once again, thank you guys for everything. :) BTW, Wifi is very poor here! Almost impossible to use it. In evenings I needed to work - no way :( Overall, hotel is great, would come back again just there are couple of disadvantages.
I stayed two weeks while attending a language school in Riga. The attraction was city centre position and inclusion of a buffet dinner as well as breakfast and afternoon do-it-yourself waffles. Most guests were Scandinavian with some Russians later. The most positive aspect was the staff: they were warm and friendly. This rubbed off on the guests. The hotel had a relaxed, yet efficient, atmosphere. The downside was traffic, seagull and neighbour noise. My room was hot so I had the window open most nights. The building is old and walls and floors thin and unsound-proofed. The bedroom and bathroom are simply furnished like a conference hotel or university room. You need your own toiletries. There are also no tea-making facilities and you pay for water in your room. A few tweaks could help here. Despite these complaints, the hotel worked for me and I would return.
As the title says the overwhelming message is value. The hotel is full of atmosphere as its a converted old grand building. The location is great with just a short walk to the old town. Friendly staff and comfortable (not luxurious) rooms. Added value - A light evening meal is included in the rate and consists of cold meats and cheeses, salad, soup and a main course with vegetables which changes each evening. The hotel also has coffee and tea complimentary throughout the day. recommended 100%
This is probably one of the classiest hotels I've ever been to. Ok that might not be saying that much compared to some who are acquainted with star hotels, but for me it was an experience. Breakfast and dinner were included and were both buffet style. Neither were spectacular but still pretty ok.
It's a very nice 3-star hotel. The location is amazing - just a 10-minute walk to the Old Town. The breakfast and Dinner are awesome! so tasty and there is a good wide choice of meals. I liked the room as well - it was pretty comfy and nice. Fresh water, soft pillows etc. Downsides - the shower is awful. Whoever invented that wasn't really sure what they were doing probably =)). Overall, it's definitely 4 out of 5.
If you want to discover Riga, this is the perfect hotel to stay. The rooms are clean and quiet, the staff is very friendly. After the excellent breakfast, you are in a good mood to walk into town.. try it and you wo'nt be disappointed !
This hotel choice was bulls eye. Felt like visiting an old friend long seen. We were very well taken care of all our stay. The hotel is not new, but the rooms are clean with plenty of room. Ceiling is higher up than "normal". If you prefer a quiet room, ask for one facing the backyard. Be aware you get hot water with lever to the left. This goes for all faucets. Since we happened to be there the 4th of May, we got a delicious evening meal included in the room price, we thought at first. But the next evening was almost the same. So if you don't want to try an other cuisine downtown, just eat at the hotel. For free. Walking distance to central city and easy walking access to several POIs. If we visit Riga once again, picking the hotel is an easy task. Valdemars it is:)
Perfect stay for a weekend in Riga! Great and healthy evening buffet. Large rooms. Walking distance to the city center and the ferry. Friendly staff. Unfortunately, We missed out on the free afternoon waffles.
