Neddy Meadow – A Peaceful Escape in the Heart of Swaledale Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Neddy Meadow is a cosy, two-bedroom stone barn with rare access to two private acres of meadows, just outside the pretty village of Grinton. Perfect for couples, friends or small families (and one well-behaved dog), it’s a peaceful base for walking, cycling, or simply unwinding under starlit skies. Inside, you’ll find a warm and welcoming space with rustic charm and all the modern comforts – including a log-burning stove, Wi-Fi, Smart TV, and a fully equipped kitchen. Outside, enjoy a private patio, secure bike storage, and acres of space to roam, relax, or stargaze. Footpaths lead straight from the door into the hills, with riverside walks, scenic cycling trails, and classic Dales villages like Reeth just a short stroll away.

Getting there
The barn itself is tucked away from any road, so you won’t see it until you’re literally right there. To find it you can use the postcode DL11 6HL, which will get you close, or follow these instructions. First off, take the Redmire turn off from Grinton. If you’ve come from Richmond, this will be a left turn at the pub with the church in front of you, if you’ve come from Reeth, a right, with the pub on the left. No sooner have you taken this road than you take a right signposted Harkerside and a blue sign for Swale Trail.
This is a single track lane, but there are places to pass if you meet someone coming the other way. About 500 yards along this road you’ll pass the last stone house on your left. The entrance to Neddy Meadow is the one just before the white house. There are double metal gates (soon to be replaced with nice wooden ones!). If they’re closed, lift the arm all the way over, pull the bolt and they will open towards the road (so don’t pull your car right up to them).
After this the track pulls uphill and to the left and the barn and wooden agricultural barn will be straight in front of you. There is a parking area to the right that will fit 2/3 cars. Please don’t park in front of the wooden barn doors.
Walk along the gravel to the front of the barn and straight in front of you is the key safe. The code for your stay is 1977. There will be a key in here for the front stable door and the back door.
Step inside and your welcome pack will be there to make sure you’re all set up for the first day or so. The cottage handbook will also be there with some useful information about the barn and surroundings.
