Stayed here on a business trip to the region and I was very pleased with the choice. It's a modern hotel, with spacious rooms and most importantly lots of USB charging points, with 2 either side of the bed. This is an area that many hotels struggle with but today's traveller has to charge multiple USB devices! Staff were also very helpful and breakfast was good. There is a nice bar as well.
Lock everything up. My suitcase was rifled thru and small amount of currency taken the day after I checked in. Returning home, discover that I have missing jewelry. The money was there the night before as was the jewelry. Travel companion in room next door missing a larger amount of money though he couldn't verify that it was there the day before. Traveling all over the world for 4O years - first time a victim. I was there 2 nights and 1 day. No apology from staff, though they did voluntarily remove a charge for a couple of sodas.
We stayed at the Dorint Kongresshotel for one night to visit a concert at the Hockenheimring. The Hotel is going to be renovated so the reception was transferred to the second floor. (The main floor was full of boxes and stuff for the renovation). The Hotel informed us in advance of this. Our room was on the first floor and it was simply beautiful. It is entirely renovated, clean, stylish, comfortable and modern and we were the first guests to stay there. (The only thing to criticize was that there were yellows markings all over the room as reminders for things that need to be improved. They could have offered a small discount, but this would be moaning on a high level) The staff was very friendly and very helpful and the breakfast was rich. Overall it was pleasant stay for a reasonable and we would came back
When I arrived I was worried that the hotel had closed since the lobby is under construction and all you see from the street level is boxes and construction (see picture). Wifi was only working intermittently during the day and there was noise from the construction - not great for international business travel. The hotel did not inform me of this before my arrival. Service leaves a lot to be desired. A wakeup call I requested never came, luckily I had also set my phone alarm. Housekeeping confiscated my soap after day 1 and when I called to request more the front desk said "you don't have any left?" then never sent any after saying they would. The rooms are clean but too hot and I could not figure out how to get the thermostat to go below 18. Maybe this was my mistake but after the shoddy service I had received on other issues I decided it was not even worth contacting the front desk to try to sort it out. Would not stay here again.
Very poor service and unkind, rude attitude at the reception. I just asked whether it is possible to check in early with some extra fees (since most hotels provide this kind of service), but she replied back to me with angry red face that "it is impossible, your room is currently dirty." In most four star hotels, you might hear something like this: "Sorry but your room is not ready yet, and we are currently not providing such early check in service." What is wrong with this staff?
Very kind staff in the hotel, everybody smiles and helps you! Breakfast is impressive with a big number of options to cover all your wishes Very comfortable rooms and beds... They have a bar in the lobby very useful to close a business or just relax in the night... the hotel has also a very good location everything is close and if you need a taxi you can ask for one in the lobby and you will be picked up in 3-4 minutes, also have many restaurants and markets walking few steps
My stay was not as satisfying as my experiences from other 4-start hotels. Breakfast gave ton of choices, but the cook-to-order guy was often away from his station. The garage was as narrow as other German under-ground garages, though the overnight use fee of it was reasonable. The room was adequate in size, but I could hear people talking in the hallway loud and clear. Since the hotel was under renovation, it would be nice if the hotel could give some incentives. The only 'wow' factor I can share was the in-room dining. I had a Dorint burger with chips (aka French fries) - probably the best meal I had in Mannheim. If I come back to Mannheim, I will stay at the Raddison Blue. It is just around the corner from the Dorint.
I have stayed at this hotel regularly over the last 10 year For Well located Best breakfast selection in Mannheim in my experience, but salmon no longer offered. First class orange juice so 5 out of 5 on my orange juice score. Generally smart and well maintained. Comfortable room and bathroom. The food at dinner is also quite good. Service normally good. The underground parking area is easier to manoeuvre in than some other local hotels. Could improve The reception and bar area are currently undergoing renovation so temporary arrangements are in place until September. The towels are small and a bit thin. First floor rooms can be very noisy if the are preparing a conference/ exhibition on floor two. Heavy furniture being dragged across the ceiling in the early hours of the morning is unacceptable in my view. Busy when concerts and exhibitions are on. Happy to recommend.
I've given this a very good rating as it is much better than average but to be honest it is not quite at the very good level. Since my last visit the hotel rooms have all been refurbished. At the time of writing, the rest of the refurbishments are still ongoing with reception temporarily on the second floor and the main bar undergoing a major refit. All rooms now have air-conditioning which is very welcome in Mannheim during the summer. The rooms are nicely decorated and have a good sized safe which you can easily get a laptop into. It's a shame that there is no fridge in the room. The bathrooms have a nice shower, shaving mirror and hairdryer. Everything is very clean and smart. The wifi in the Dorint does seem hit and miss at the moment. In my room, I struggled to get connected on two of four devices tried (two work, two personal). Those I did get connected found that the performance was pretty slow at times. A colleague on a different floor had no such problems. Maybe this is affected by all the building works but a taxi driver said he had had quite a few customers saying that they had issues with the hotel wifi there. Breakfast at the Dorint is excellent. Very good selection of hot and cold food and friendly egg chef. At the moment, it is a long walk to the ground floor breakfast room as you have to walk down to it from reception on floor 2 via the conference area. No idea how those with mobility issues get there. I can only assume you need to go out the front door and enter via the garden. Since the opening of the Radisson Blu, it is noticeable that several business hotels are being refurbished. It will be interesting to try the Dorint again when the refurb is complete but at the moment, the Radisson Blu is the better hotel of the two.
The hotel is located at good location, just few steps from Italian restaurant, and shops in less 250m , 850m to main mannheim train station. Great breakfast, Wifi was good but today 16/07 didn't work 😁
