Happy to have a roof over our heads
Perhaps this is the risk you take renting a VRBO with no reviews. I have learned a very important lesson from this experience: ALWAYS confirm a VRBO reservation directly with the host a week prior to arrival.
I'll start with the positives:
* Great location
* Attentive and kind host
Now for the negatives:
* Entry and Wifi information not provided in advance of arrival. Needed to track down host to access rental.
* Rental was not ready for our arrival. Needed to wait until 7pm for cleaning.
* No lockbox. Host met us at local restaurant to give us the keys.
* Listing advertises washing machine - there is no washing machine
* Bed in room with two twin beds was broken. Had to sleep on the couch in the living room.
* Beds in two bedrooms prevent the closets from opening for access.
* No access to power outlets in bedroom with twin beds.
* Spare bedding was balled up on shelves instead of folded neatly for use.
* Bathroom trash contained hair and used feminine products.
* Closets and kitchen cabinets were full of useless clutter and junk.
* Several pans in kitchen didn't work with convection cooktop. We thought the stovetop was broken until we found one pan that worked.
* Freezer full of frozen items.
* Kitchen faucet not attached to sink. It hung precariously from sink.
* Listing advertised accommodations for 6, but there were not enough utensils for 6 guests - only 3 forks.
* Listing pictures show clean and tidy apartment. Apartment was full of personal items and clutter.
