Yet another wonderful relaxing holiday at Doubletree Marjan. Staff - as always the staff were great and attentative. A few changes this time round which took us a few days to get used to, missed the usual team at boardwalk but the new guys worked very hard in the heat, and it was nice to see Blessing again, who had just transferred from the resort. Food - we were BE exclusive and it was nice to have two additional restaurants, both excellent food and standards. Although confused that some items were not included even thou BE exclusive!! Room - stayed in a Bay room this time which was very nice. Entertainment - still very low key in the evening, but was nice to have music around the pool during the day. Special thanks to Mahmoud & Lakmal who have been looking after us for years along with their teams. We have visited many times over the last few years and will certainly be back again. If you want great service and relaxation in the sun you can't do better in RAK.
This is the second time we have visited here, both our visits have been great. Lovely hotel with good amenities. We were in Bay Club rooms and we thought amenities would be adults only but there were a lot of children but it made no difference. Our room was kept spotless by Hirdesh - thank you - and we were looked after on the beach by Ram who was ace at sorting out the beach umbrellas. The boys in the Bay Club Beach bar deserve a special mention, they were always busy but always cheerful. Only down side was the dine around option which we had, we were led to believe we would be able to choose anything from any restaurant, but this is the ultra version, ordinary dine around is from a set menu that doesn’t seem to change at all. If you want to truly dine around you need to upgrade. That said, food was ok, though sometimes service was a bit slow, especially in Brazziere. The lounge on the 9th floor was lovely for a quiet drink before dinner and it had super views, staff were quick and efficient. The whole complex is quite large and very busy during the day, the beach does get crowded but there are some brilliant water sports and the sea is calm. We were picked up by taxi and dropped back to the airport by the hotel bus, both were on time and reliable.
This is a nice hotel but definitely not up to the standard we've enjoyed over the last 15 years of travelling to Dubai. Dubai and RAK definitely seem to be moving toward the family market which I get but standards have consequently slipped. For starters the restaurant was hectic and under staffed. On several occasions we left our table to get food and on our return the staff had cleared it and sat other guests there. We waited a long time for tea and coffee and the staff were not as polite or helpful as other places we have stayed. On one occasion the service was so bad we asked to see a manager - twice and he/she still didn't materialise. I witnessed a couple of falls around the pool and there was some talk of it being dangerously slippery. I was careful and had no problem. The complimentary water only appeared after we asked for it, the room was often serviced after 5pm and on one occasion was forgotten completely, the hair dryer doesnt have a long enough lead to allow you to use a mirror when drying your hair and generally the common areas around the rooms look as though they have had spare furniture dumped in them. On the plus side there was a good amount of sun beds, beach was lovely and there were a huge amount of activities and water sports for children of all ages including a mini water park for 3-16 year olds. Adults only pool was too shaded to stay past lunch time. It wasn't chic or luxurious but we did enjoy a lovely 10 day break in a family hotel. Oh and the entertainment team seemed to love really heavy club music around the pool.
Visited for 5 nights after spending 5 nights in Dubai city we wanted a bit of an all inclusive relax before heading home. Check in fine, upgraded to villa room, offered bay club exclusive for extra but declined and glad we did as there was no exclusivity for this paid upgrade. My son enjoyed the cookie! And room ready early. First day was brilliant, quiet around pools, plenty of loungers and we thought it was lovely, just what we needed. Then it changed! Became extremely busy, sun lounger savers at the crack of dawn! Beer drinkers, saw on numerous occasions all inclusive guests sneaking drinks for non all inclusive! The hotel is clean and staff we encountered friendly although reception need to learn some manners when answering questions- laughing/sniggering to each other is not professional! Sajan our room housekeeper was great. Our son asked for a towel animal and the next day he had a peacock :) Water park good, pools good, beach good. Buffet restaurant has a lot of variety and we managed to find something each night but it’s like sitting in a school canteen kids running around, adults pushing each other out of the way! Overall we wouldn’t return, it’s not a 5 star spa resort we expected more like Butlins in the sun!
Thanks David. Best shuttle driver. He will take you anywhere you want to go and he gives good advise. Safe and secure. Always have a smile on his face. Really helps a lot with finding places to go. He can even sing and tell good and funny story’s. His the guy to go to if you need to go anywhere.
Had a relaxing/party/chillaxing stay! Service is was brilliant and staff were really friendly. A couple items missing from the room but not really fussed. Our room looked out onto the beach so easy access and the swimming pool is an infinity pool, So if anyone stay definitely go for the private villas/rooms (family side) Thanks again for an amazing experience double tree 😎
Visited with family Nov 5th-12th and we had two rooms in the Bay Club premium area, all inclusive basis . Weather fantastic, hotel very good, food very good , dining experience OK, quiet after 1030pm, lovely setting. Hotel is only four years old so smart, new and well maintained. Bay club rooms large with sitting area and nice balcony. Hotel is very clean, high standard of room housekeeping. We found the staff very helpful and pleasant from check in , bar service, concierge and activity team. All staff are migrant workers from numerous countries , India , Malaysia, Bangladesh which gave a vibrant staff mix . Very few Arabic staff below management level. Food is an interesting area. A lot of excellent choices but in the buffet restaurant do not expect a fine dining experience. The buffet can be busy but if you avoid peak times you will enjoy a nice meal with lots of choice.Food is good but you serve yourself and this is not fine dining. The buffet restaurant has an adults only area which is quieter. The three restaurants are available to book but Dubai is expensive so expect main courses around £40 , a gin and tonic around £8 each. These can be included in all-inclusive package but you must book top level dine around package . All inclusive drinks package is a must if you like a couple of drinks of an evening . A beer and aperitif will set you back £16.00 if you pay separately so you can do the maths. Entertainment every evening was adequate but could be so improved if the singers added some audience participation and banter. They are young singers and need to give more effort and energy. The resort guests appear to be a small majority Russian or Eastern European . Some British, French and German. Be prepared to be patient as some of these cultures are loud and do not queue well. The beach is man made from dredged sand and shells and can be sharp underfoot. In my opinion sea water conditions are not European Blue Flag level. If they are management do not publicise this point . Swimming pools are terrific. Adult pool, activity pool, kids pools , infinity pool all superb. Bay Club , exclusive policy needs tighter control. A pool and dining areas reserved for Bay Club guests is NOT policed,so you end up sharing services that you have paid for with other guests who have not paid the premium. This is a management issue . All in all would love to give 5 stars but can only award four star. Great value in expensive Emirates region. .
Check in staff bad, no manners. Hotel is ok as is rooms..Food very bad and quite often cold. Restaurant like a canteen, definitely not 5*. Twice while there we went to get our next course only to get back to our table to find that it had been cleared and another couple sitting there, Friend had a fall in lobby on water that someone had spilt and not been mopped up, staff were quick to come from reception to help her up but didn’t want to know really. We had to insist on report being filled in, and then they wouldn’t give us a copy. We both ended up with bad stomachs, so not a place we would return to, very poor.
Staff is unfriendly and sometimes mean especially on front desk. Delays in checking-in. One of the front desk staff lied by saying that she upgraded our reservation to sea view rooms, which I booked and paid for sea view rooms.
