A wonderful couple of weeks at the Black Pearl. If you're looking for a quiet friendly place to unwind and you're not too worried about satellite TV and air con you'll probably like this place as much as we did. Great pool, beautiful tropical garden and a gate through to the beach across the road. Jane, Rangi and all the staff looked after us really well-took the time to talk and hang out-genuine Rarotongan hospitality. There's a shop and gas next door and good bars and restaurants close by. Hopefully we'll stay at the Black Pearl again soon. Thanks to all the staff.
The Black Pearl is an older, smaller resort, but that's definitely part of its charm. Beautiful, well-kept gardens give it a very private feel, and the rooms are spacious and clean. Most have been recently upgraded and the rest are slated to be done this year. The staff were warm and welcoming, and Jane and Rangi did a stellar job of arranging some weird and wonderful experiences for us. The resort is across the road from the beach, with a burger joint (great burgers, reasonably priced), ice cream stand and good grocery store right next door. A few steps away you can rent bicycles, scooters, or kayaks. The Black Pearl was our kind of place and we would most definitely book there again.
I’d recommend the Black Pearl for travellers to Roratonga. It’s clean, very well equipped. Right across the road from the ocean. Super convenience store and coffee shop right next door. A wonderful place to kick back and relax.
The Black Pearl is a small, well looked after resort located on the sunset side of Raro just across the road from the beach. It has a lovely garden setting and refreshing pool when it gets too hot. And Jane, Rangi and the team couldn't do a better job of looking after everything you might need.
Away from the hussle and bustle of Muri Beach is the Black Pearl. Close to the famous Wilsons Bar and a great new cafe called Beluga Cafe. Everything you need inside your motel unit. A small supermarket next door. The rooms a good size and the bed is comfortable. There is a swimming pool and the beach if just over the road. We enjoyed using the bbq available and also the outdoor covered pergola area.
The Black Pearl was fabulous and absolutely perfect for me; the friendly, helpful staff, the decor, the pool, location, everything was great. Set in a lovely tropical garden across the road from the beach, complete with a delicious fruit platter on arrival. My own kitchen facilities, next to a cafe, icecream and grocery shop. Loved it! :-) Thanks Jane.
Jane was most helpful when I contracted a chest infection. Everyone goes to the pharmacy rather than a doctor or hospital. She was great at suggesting terrific local things to go to like the progressive dinner. A must do.
We valued the enclosed property for the children to play in, and the great pool. The layout of the property was excellent to keep eyes on the little ones. Then to the beach being so handy across the road was excellent. The studio rooms were large, giving plenty of space to live in. The mini-supermarket, coffee shop, ice cream shop next door was very handy. Staff very friendly and helpful. The BBQ with flexible table (outside/under cover) facilities outside was great for a big group of nine.
The Black Pearl owned & operated by the delightful & professional Jane Barclay is an absolutely fantastic place to stay in Raro. Awesome location opposite a beautiful beach providing stellar sunsets & excellent snorkelling, cafe & little supermarket nearby, fab beach bar & restaurants within walking distance & the bus stops right outside. Thoroughly relaxing vibe, spotless & very well maintained property with great facilities including lovely bbq/pool area, snorkelling gear, book swap & filtered water. The rooms & bathrooms are a generous size self contained, bright & breezy with everything you need. The bed & pillows are super comfortable (a big deal for us!). We have also stayed at an 'adults only' resort hotel on Raro but have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone as it has a more chilled relaxing vibe & very private. We would definitely stay here again. Jane & her lovely staff are on hand to assist with any queries, advice & great suggestions which we really appreciated.
We loved our stay, so quiet and peaceful, lovely garden and pool. Frwe to borrow snorkel gear. Fruit on arrival yum. Right next door to a cafe/ restaurant, a store, petrol station, scooter hire and activity booking. Only 10 minutes walk to the dive centre which the snorkelling is best right out in front of. We actually hitch hiked to get a ride around by holding out $10 met lovely locals and tourists. The bus pulls our right outside and is $5 each one way.
