Upstairs the villa was nice with a good outdoor area with private pool. Both bedrooms had air con which was utilised at night. There was no view of the lagoon as the photos on website are several years old and it is now a garden view. Downstairs was very musty and damp so wasn't utilised. All family villas were booked so we didn't ask if we could move. We tried airing this area out regularly but this invited in bugs and millipedes which we controlled with spray and the broom. Would not stay in this villa again however the beachfront couple studios look fabulous
Rarotonga, The Cook Islands is my new found paradise on earth. The island offers a peaceful place to enjoy the weather, scenery, food and water. But, it also has its busy side as well. I stayed on the south side of the island. The busy side is on the north side. The island in general is laid back and a friendly place to be yourself. Sea Change Village is a wonderful retreat. It's living in a house with all the amenities one has in one's on home - not a hotel style place thank goodness. On arrival the kitchen is stocked with several items for a few days of breakfast, and a bottle of sparkling wine. I most enjoyed the private pool off the back/fenced-in deck. Best of all, the people at Sea Change are knowledgeable about the island, friendly, engaging and just simply warm folks to visit with. Stephanie and Beverly who are generally in the office have lots of island information to share. Just nice individuals. Haley, also staff at Sea Change, met us on our arrival. She provided us a 1/2 hour overview of all the island's internal workings: Transportation, sites to visit, restaurants, grocery stores, money exchange, bus service... Haley even arranged for a local restaurant to pick us up from the "hotel" for that evening's dinner. Sea Change also has water equipment to enjoy in the lagoon just across the street. I enjoyed snorkeling. I can't wait to visit this Cook Island and the two other more travelled of the 15 islands next year. Sea Change here we come!
I am simply adding to the lovely reviews of Sea Change Villas...We stayed for six nights in a beachfront villa in early March. The setting at the lagoon is outstanding, and the grounds and beach area are beautifully maintained. I suppose what made our stay spectacular was very much due to the efforts of the Sea Change team to ensure a worry-free, smooth and relaxing visit. The included transfers, dinner reservations, tour reservations, car hire help, villa cleaning, well-equipped kitchen, laundry availability, masks/snorkels/shoes, "starter" breakfasts.......So much thought is put into the details that allowed us to spend a very relaxing week walking the beach, sitting/reading on the patio overlooking the water, swimming the private pool and snorkeling.. The only alternate feedback I can offer is that the villa in which we stayed was showing a few signs of age, wear and tear. We reported a few items on our departure, which were gratefully accepted as and recorded. Knowing the nature of maintaining a beach property, however, this did not detract from our stay nor our review.
We can only fully agree with all the previous positive ratings. We had a beach villa and enjoyed it very much. Immaculately clean, top class service. On the day of departure we were allowed to stay in thr villa till late evening without extra charge. Very friendly hosts and staff. Highly recommended,
Sea Change Villas made our 30th Anniversary one to remember. From the time we were picked up early Sunday morning and greeted by Junior with beautiful flower lei's, cold towels, water and champagne until the time we had to sadly leave and say goodbye to Bev 10 days later, our stay was spectacular. Having our fridge stocked with an assortment of Breakfast Items was a plus. Bev, Marilyn, Stephanie and the team assisted us before and during our stay from advising us on excursions to renting a vehicle and guiding us around Rarotonga with it being our first time to the Cook Islands. We stayed in one of the Beachfront Villas. It was very spacious with modern amenities and had outstanding views. Having our own Private Pool was absolutely fantastic and was a definite factor in choosing our accommodations. The location of Sea Change is superb being on the opposite side of the island from Avarua which seems to be busy. Anna and the other ladies that took care of or Villa were wonderful. We will miss Anna's notes. The best thing we liked about Sea Change was everything. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The least thing we liked was the little ants that would come and go from time to time. This might have been due to it being Summer, but it did not hamper our holiday whatsoever. We will return to Sea Change Villas! Tips: Get your liquor at the Duty Free when arriving at the Airport as it's less expensive than getting it in Rarotonga. Wigmore's is close and reasonably priced for all your grocery needs. Different baked goods daily. We found the prices comparable or even better than CITC Supermarket. We ate at Vaima (which has free transfers), Charlie's, (best fresh fish sandwich) and Beluga, (fresh food with great iced coffees). All reasonably priced and close to Sea Change. Saltwater Cafe was closed otherwise we would have eaten there too. Punanga Nui Market on Saturday morning in Avarua is a must for all your souvenirs.
This was our very first trip out of California. We searched so many places to go vacation and ultimately Rarotonga met all our criteria. There were so many lovely spots to choose from in Rarotonga to stay, but we kept coming back to Sea Change Villas. We are so happy that we decided to stay at Sea Change. We couldn't have been happier with our choice! The resort was just beyond amazing, the location is just pure bliss! The beach front villa view was breath taking, a view I will never forget. The staff were very kind, super friendly, and welcoming. They were so helpful they got us all set for our week. The private pool was such a wonderful bonus. The amenities the resort offered were fabulous, no needing for anything for your water snorkeling, kayaking, even paddle boards. Also a great location with a nearby market, and it was even close to our favorite spot to grab a bite to eat (Charlie's). Rarotonga in general was just heavenly. However, if you're looking for a beautiful, romantic spot to just relax and enjoy paradise then Sea Change Villas is exactly what your looking for, ENJOY!! Cant wait to go back! Thank you Sea Change Villa staff for making our 20yr anniversary super special!
We had 7 nights here recently in a lagoon view villa with private pool (no 4) and really enjoyed ourselves, this was our first time so we were not sure on what to expect. We were picked up from the airport in a nice car and offered bubbly or water and dropped to our villa the driver also let us into our villa as it was late at night, there was a lovely welcome pack in the fridge, as the holiday went on the staff were more than happy to confirm my previous bookings and book things for me. We had a 3 day car hire as part of our package and i think that was a must for us especially when wanting to eat out and explore the island. The location we felt was part of the beauty of the place as it is a little distance away from everywhere but not to far, all of the events we did had transport to and from the villa so no issues there. We also had a private chef come in one night and cook for us he was absolutely amazing with lovely food and we had a couples massage this was amazing and again so friendly this was all included in our package. As for the villa itself we loved calling it our home for the time there the pool was the highlight for us, the housemaids were super friendly and helpful (i felt they were a big part of making our stay so great :) ) if i was to give any negative feedback it would be that the place was a little tired and run down our bed was very comfortable but it creaked and groaned also when i was cooking a meal i had to be extremely fast due to the little ants i assume that is the case everywhere in Rarotonga, other than that everything was exceptional and we had a great time. - WE WILL BE BACK :)
This was our first time to Raro and everyone at Sea Change was so helpful, knowledgable, and friendly and made us feel welcome to a unknown place. We stayed in the new beach bungalows and they were clean and comfortable, the only downside was the road noise since they are so close to the road. We loved sitting on the deck in the mornings drinking our coffee and walking the beach and very much enjoyed the lagoon & the gorgeous views. Thank you for wonderful hospitality.
We had 5 nights here recently in an executive lagoon view villa. The lagoon view was very small, in hindsight we should have booked a waterfront villa because we were up the hill. The airport pick up was wonderful after 16+hrs of travel. The driver was friendly and greeted us with beautiful flower leis and offered us sparkling wine or water for the journey in a very comfortable car. As it was late at night the driver also let us into our (very hot and stuffy) villa and gave us our key. There was a lovely welcome pack in the fridge with wine, beer and breakfast food which was a lovely and appreciated touch. We found Steph to be helpful and friendly and the location was pretty good although a car or scooter is required to see anything, or go to restaurants and/or get groceries etc. The closest cafe is closed. We really appreciated the late check out and the transfer by mini van back to the airport. House keeping were very good, friendly and efficient. Unfortunately for us we were not overly comfortable and feel that it was very expensive (perhaps that's just the Cooks full stop) for the standard we received. This was due mainly to: 1)The horrible damp(??) smell down stairs (yes we know it's the tropics) but an oil burner or something would greatly improve this as it was really off putting. 2) There were a quite a few cockroaches, ants and millipedes(??) in the villa making it feel unclean. 3) The Villa was tired, the lamp next to the bed was ripped and dirty, the mirror was marked/damaged, the doors didn't slide very well and the furniture was tired and a little grubby. The last and worst thing for us was the heat. Because there is only one air conditioner in the bedroom the rest of the villa is stifling. We understand this is a conservation thing BUT when you have to lock up when you go out for security there is no way of airing the villa and as a result it is so uncomfortable in the afternoon and evening after the sun coming in all day. We feel for the price we paid having the option of air conditioning though out should have been a given. So sadly this property was not for us and we can not rate it any higher than a 3.
We were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, clean, and perfectly located seaside beach villa. Just exactly as pictured on their website, maybe even better! Everything here top notch: View, bed, linens, daily housekeeping staff, and especially the ladies at the front desk who act as concierge /management. They were so awesomely helpful and let you know all your options, very knowledgeable on local anything., and with good attitudes to boot. On site laundry/ dryer machines came in handy, kayaks and everything you need are onsite and plentiful- from snorkel gear to reef shoes! Cable tv! Air conditioning! Felt sorry for others we met who stayed at lessor venues. Like home, but better. Kitchen with cooking facilities, refrigerator, etc. you can’t go wrong here.
