7 of us came for a surprise 40th birthday to this Peaceful Island, staying at Raro Beach Bach was the perfect base for adventures. It has 3 studio units which have their own bathrooms and kitchens, separate from the main house which has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 is an en suite), small lounge and kitchen but room for the 8 of us nicely and a washing machine. The lagoon is maybe 10 paces from the buildings and perfect for a swim just watch out for the rocks, beach combing is fantastic there's so many different crabs in their shells etc..... There are plenty of kitchen plates and pots etc, and if you don't want to take it home bug spray and sunscreen were left by previous guests I'd left my moisturiser at home so to find some left behind was a godsend and was left for the next guests. I definitely stay here again should I get the chance.
great place to stay we had a family group of six plenty of space and facilties suited our needs we will be back to stay again approx 2km from the rarotongan and 5 ks to muri we found it central for our needs lagon right by our door good value for money
Great houses. Three different sizes. Beach not fabulous but position great. Good communication with owner. Comfy beds and nice outdoor seating. Lovely viewing platform upstairs but not suitable for younger children.
We had a great time here and booked the house and the units. There were 7 adults and 2 kids so plenty of room. The house had everything we needed and it was a relaxing place to stay. We felt safe, but met a few people who had had their scooters and cars broken into around the area. I'd advise you to put everything away, even the friendly locals we met told us this. A beautiful place to snorkel right out the front of the place, but if you want a magical place got to the marine reserve right next to The Rarotongan Hotel and near a dive center. I'd stay here again, it would be awesome for a big family gathering or sports team.
Great value for money - some maintenance needed but for a large group, it was a good combo of communal and private spaces. It's close to Wigmores, lots of space for cars and scooters and the adorable Polly, a local dog, will give you a warm welcome but keep a respectful distance if you're not so keen. Explore the local back roads if you feel like a walk or run.
9 adults, 4 kids. We stayed at this property for 6nights. We rented the entire property for this duration. The good-beach front, great for large groups, the sea shoes left behind to use, good for those on a budget, great entertaining area, great pressure shower, wigmores supermarket is easy walking distance, private enough for your own space but also able to socialise with the rest of your party. The bad-Beach is very rocky, very dated property, cold showers 3/6days, dirty scummy shower n toilet mats, two single beds stuck together to make a queen, seemed to be very windy on this side of the island day n night, upstairs deck is great but the stairs are more like a slanted ladder and with the wind unusable, large freezer wasn't working, very dark around the property at night. Summary- as a budget option for a large group this place is perfect. Self catering is not a problem with the cutlery and cooking utensils available at all 3 buildings. If you want to indulge in pampering and a golden sand beach then perhaps looking into a resort would be best. You cannot blame the owner for a rocky beach and also the cold windy weather but if I was to return I personally would not stay here and if I had a time machine I would perhaps advise myself to stay elsewhere.
Great location, close to Wigmores Supermarket. Clean and tidy place to stay. Had a few issues with water due to heavy rain, but any issues we had were promptly dealt with. A great place to stay for familys or large groups and property offers great privacy. Great snorkelling beach right outside your door. The large outdoor covered decking area is essential for large group entertaining. Booked on booking.com website with absolutely no hassles. Only negative, the concrete floors inside are very slippery when wet feet are walking through so need to be very very careful .
We booked this and Jim Bells next door for 19 adults. So glad we did. What a great Space. We loved having the options of the individual units, and used the house at Raro Beach bach as our hub. We Loved the beach front location. Heaps of surf shoes that have been left behind for those of our guests that forgot to bring theirs. Even an inflatable boat which was super fun. Clean and spacious. Loved the ample outdoor seating and loungers. This place had everything that we needed..Even visiting dogs.. which we LOVED. We will miss Polly. They were super well behaved, no begging and stayed out of the house. Just hung out for cuddles. The locals are amazing, and Ian was great. Can't wait to come back. Travelled in August. 26 degrees most days. Rained twice in the 2 weeks we were there, but not at all cold. Got my long sleeve top out just the once.
We had a great stay at Raro Beach Bach. Can´t beat the beach front location for that price in our opinion! Maybe a bit close to the road which means you do hear the “traffic” but we did find that in the majority of accommodation anyhow. Ian is a very amicable chap and was always quick in the email front and ready to help with anything once there. We were only 2 and were possibly “extra-delighted” that we had the whole place for ourselves… but even if you´re sharing with others there is plenty of room for everybody. And if you´re a big group and would rent it all, I doubt you´ll find a better arrangement anywhere in the island! As a summary, A++++++ from us :)
Stayed here with a family group to celebrate son inlaws birthday.location was spot on with great snooking accomadation was good and clean and it was a great place for large groups to have a great time away from the resorts. within walking distant to supermarket. ever thing supplied except the food. Would recommend for large groups
