We stayed at this hotel for our nights, after staying at hotels on two other islands. The room was great, beach front, very well equipped and with an outside shower. The ladies who serviced the room were magnificent. Kept us supplied with plenty of towels, including beach towels and, kept the apartment immaculate. The restaurant provided a standard buffet breakfast with he option of additional choices from the kitchen for.a charge. Evening service could be variable. One aspect at does let he hotel down, is the reception. Whereas other hotels have an open and welcoming reception area, this hotel has quite a basic, almost clinical reception, which we felt to be intruding on the air conditioned area, each time we visited. Linked o thisarea, the guest lounge area, used by guests, waiting to be collected to go to he airport, was shabby. If this whole area could be addressed to be made more welcoming, I am sure that he overall ambience of the hotel would improve.
We stayed in a garden bungalow, which was very roomy, clean & close to the beach. We specifically enjoyed the outdoor shower & the good coffee in the room!! Breakfast was plenty and the food in the restaurant was good and so was the service. Everybody was very helpful and friendly! We also liked the chickens and the kitties, as they are such a unique part of the island! We did rent a car for one day (car rental is conveniently located across the road) to drive around the island, do some shopping in Avarua, as well as some snorkling at different locations around the island. Snorkling in front of the hotel is also really good, a good amount of fish to see. Tokerau, Jim is just across the road, who does wonderful pearl and pearl shell art, which makes for great souvenirs. The weather was great, the water nice and warm, we were taken care off very well and had such a relaxing holiday at Manuia Resort in Rarotonga!!
My fiancé and I had 5 nights at this amazing resort - my third time visiting the Cooks and this place was by far the best on Rarotonga. Private, secluded, fantastic amenities, plentiful tropical breakfasts and pool side service by attentive (and always happy) restaurant staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble! Extra special thanks to the night watchman (have forgotten his name, sorry!) who had to give up his sleep to ferry us to and from the airport early in the mornings.
My husband and I stayed here last week for 6 nights. We had a Garden Bungalow which was well appointed and spacious. Enjoyed the outdoor shower. We really liked the set out of the property. Each bungalow was pretty much obscured from view of the other bungalows which gave you the sense of total privacy. Its not a huge Resort which suited us just fine. A mix of ages were staying here so not just oldies. Pool looked lovely, but chose to swim in the lagoon. Sunsets were amazing from the beach. The staff here are lovely and a special mention to Twin who was our housekeeper during our stay, she made us feel very welcome and greeted us with a smile. The grounds are well maintained and are cleared of any plant debris daily. If I had one bad thing to say, it would be the lack of somewhere to wait until your room was ready. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and we were hot and tired, we had a couple of hours to wait until our room was ready. The "Lounge" area for guests was small and not very inviting. It had a very uncomfortable modular type outdoor lounge setting, a tv (not turned on) and no remote to be found at that time, and on the day we arrived, was being used as a storage room. There didn't appear to be any air conditioning in the room, just a ceiling fan, so, perhaps by providing a more comfortable lounge and some option of refreshment, coffee/tea and magazines, this would make the wait a lot more comfortable. Having said all that, this was only a small inconvenience on the first day. We would definitely come back and stay here again.
My husband brought me to this resort for my 50th and we loved it Everyone was so helpful and friendly! From the cleaners to the restaurant staff to the office staff to the owner, nothing was too much trouble for them they were excellent hosts that wanted to make our stay enjoyable! The food at the restaurant was exquisite, the cocktails were addictive!
We had one of the eight beachfront rooms. Nice comfortable king bed, a couple of rattan chairs, a nice counter with a press coffee maker, good bathroom with an outdoor shower. You couldn't ask for more from a room. The staff were friendly and helpful. A continental breakfast was included with the room. They didn't change the offerings all wee. That could have been better. The pool was fun. They provided water shoes and snorkeling masks and tube for swimming in the beautiful waters. We had a wonderful time in the water. Two negatives. They give you 200Mg internet service and charge for more. With today's pads and laptop updating that is woefully inadequate. We were very limited. The second is that the office is only open from 8:30 until 5:00. One couple missed a pickup for an event and had no one to help them. Great place. We will probably go back.
At the strong recommendation of our travel agent, we stopped at Manuia Beach Resort to break up the long flight from Melbourne to Toronto. Excellent decision and choice to do so. Upon our arrival, Manuia Beach seemed to be very simple/plain, almost too simple/plain. But after a day of rest under the sun, swimming in the pool and the sea side lagoon, and an excellent dinner, all the boxes were checked. A perfect place. Would only recommend this resort for couples/adults although children can/would be accommodated. The OTB On The Beach restaurant restaurant was excellent. We ate here everyday except one. We did find the food & drink prices to be expensive, but they seem to be inline with most other eating establishments. We learnt on the last day that we probably should have visited a local grocery and/or liquor/beer store and could of saved ourselves about $200 over the week total. Cook Island is a very small and has a VERY laid back atmosphere. Excursion options are of your standard tropical island variety.
Highly recommend stay in beachfront unit. Units 1-4 most recommended for outlook. Fantastic staff. Sue went above and beyond. Mary in housekeeping was fantastic and surprised us by coming to the airport to farewell us. 12 days of bliss. Enjoyed other restaurants too but everything you need is right there. Adults only resort with Infinity pool, outdoor showers in unit. Have stayed in Raro four times and this was the best yet. Particularly like this side of island as it is generally less windy and has the bonus of beautiful sunsets. Only a short bus or scooter ride around island to visit other resorts and activities.
Although an older resort, the rooms were big and the outdoor showers were great. We spent most of the day on the beachfront or in the pool. The swimming out front is ok on high tide. Reef shoes are needed. The staff were excellent and very helpful arranging tours. We had a garden bure and not sure i would pay the extra for beachfront as a large hedge blocks the view when sitting on verandah.
This had to be the best resort on the island. It doesn't have many rooms which is fantastic because it never felt crowded. The outdoor showers are great, the pool was lovely and the whole style of the resort was beautiful and relaxing. On Tuesday the manager Sue took us on a tour of the island which was fantastic! Highly recommend.
