Our room was facing the beach so we could sit on the verandah and read with the sound of waves on the reef. On arrival early in the morning we got a room within an hour.Michelle on reception was excellent. As my wife has dietary problems we were taken to the chef who listened to her requirements. From then on she was able to get suitable meals every night. So helpful. Wilsons beach bar served excellent meals and the staff were very helpful. A very pleasant stay.
What a great place for a holiday sunshine lovely beach sunsets freindly staff and very quiet. The beach bar and restaurant are very convenient places to eat with a different menu each night.live music is a great bonus .
Everything was perfect, from the excellent customer service from Michelle and her team (often going above and beyond), to the fantastic rooms, to the privacy and peaceful atmosphere of the resort. If you're looking to get away from it all, have the best views of the sunset on the island and enjoy your own space then this is the place for you! Really didn't want to leave and am already planning my next trip back and won't ever stay anywhere else except Castaway - definitely a clear winner in my mind! Thank you team, you guys are amazing and I can't wait to see you again on my next visit to the Cook Islands! :)
And we were! Lucky that is. Third visit and stay at Castaways in 6 years. Seems so long away from our other home"" now. Michelle and Paul, Viki,(you were missed Rosali) Apu, Gabby, Anita and all of the rest of the Castaways cast and crew, right down to the wonderful cleaning and resupply staff. A HUGE Thank You for looking after us and our new to Rarotonga and Castaways, great friends from Wellington. Wilson's has indeed gone Japaness! Raw Sushi? Oh Yeah! my wife doesn't eat much fish, but she had plenty of raw tuna, seared tuna and tuna burgers. As well as. Yakatroi skewers for days on end with Scallops wrapped in bacon and cooked to perfection. Thanks once again to our hosts Paul and Michelle and to all of the other guests who like us mixed with theri fellow resort mates and had some damn fine evenings together. To Richard, kep up the good work, we look forward to seeing you back at the Beach House, maybe next year. Took some great mates with us and were privilaged to see them welcomed as we had been on our first visit and then to be made to feel as one of the Castaways family as I'm sure they now believe they are. 12 nights this time around and every one of them filled with good times and memories. 3rdies now, we are and I promise you, we're going to be 4thsies soon. Go to Castaways, kick back, relax and enjoy your place with great hosts and plenty of fellow holiday makers intent on enjoying thier time away. Can't say enough about this, the best place to stay on Raratonga bar none.

It was very peaceful in the day at evenings it came alive music party's busy busy We loved watching the chickens with there babies Yes would love to go there again shame it's not nearer has we were on our way back to the U.K but one day love to go back
This was our first trip to the Cook Island. Paul and Michelle were fantastic hosts. We stayed in the Pool side studio. It was small but very comfortable. Had a small kitchenette which aloud us to cook a few meals and have cold beer. The tropical morning breakfast was a great surprise! We went to the Sunday night barbecue which was delicious! We hope to go back to Rarotonga and stay again at The Cast Away Resort!
A very good resort/hotel run by very nice people, Michelle and Paul. Both were willing to go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. They are truly interested in their guests and it is easy to understand why this hotel is generally sold out. The food at the restaurant is amazing and at an affordable price. Almost every night the restaurant would be full of people staying here and people coming from other hotels. The rooms were very comfortable but basic, with everything you could need. The beach is fantastic with the coral cleared out for a place to swim. This resort is not for people who are looking for a glitzy hotel with fake people, but if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere with real people who run it and an opportunity to meet other interesting guests, then this is the resort for you. We have traveled to many places and this is one of our favorite places to stay.
We stayed here in December, 2015 and stayed for a week - The room was pretty good - The food was good too - Most important, the service was excellent - We will go there again this year - Great couple who owns the motel and excellent staff, too.
My partner and I visited Rarotonga for the first time in the first week of April 2017. Castaway was our choice of accomodation, and I am beyond thankful we made that decision! The atmosphere at castaway is beautiful. The staff are all so lovely! They were all so helpful and informative. The beach front bar/restaurant is gorgeous on sunset, and so relaxing. The staff are so welcoming! Castaway is a brilliant base for any couple staying in Rarotonga. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean. This accomodation truely made our vacation so much more relaxing and easy going!
My husband and I stayed at the Castaway in March 2017. Michelle and Paul are very friendly and welcoming. They are always willing to help out and are generous with their knowledge of the island and their time. They work an enormous amount of hours to make sure their guests are comfortable and happy. Can't wait to see them again! The resort is right on the ocean with snorkeling right out front. It can be quite shallow but we did see fish and even an octopus. Long beach for walking and beautiful sunsets. Wilson's bar is part of the resort and offers nightly specials for food and they always have delicious skewers available. They have an amazing world trained chef, Vikky, who makes the delicious meals for the resort. It is a nice place to have a drink and watch the sunset and is not a loud, party bar and is shut down early to allow the guests their quiet time. The resort is small with a limited amount of rooms which makes it more intimate than the larger resorts. The rooms have a kitchenette and are quite quaint. They are fully stocked with cutlery and cookware so that you can prepare your own meals which is a nice alternative to eating out all the time. This was my second time staying at the Castaway and I wouldn't stay anywhere else! I have stayed at other resorts in Raratonga and the Castaway is definitely my favorite. Great atmosphere and a great place to chill and relax! Some island tips: Although there is a bus; rent a scooter and see the island! Best snorkeling - across from the Dive Shop at Aroa Beach Bring bug spray - well if you are like me and attract them, my husband didn't need it. Don't leave food out - ants and bugs will find it!
