another stay at Area Beachside Inn, and it's like coming home ! the location is perfect, secluded with great sunset views, the staff is fantastic, they make us feel so welcome, everything is perfect and of course there is this fabulous bar "the Shipwreck Hut", where you can sip great MaiTai & PinaColada overlooking beautiful Aroa lagoon watching the sunset. The units are well appointed with everything you possibly need, and the very helpful smiling staff is always around to ensure our well-being. The grounds are beautiful and the place is very quiet, as Aroa Beachside Inn does not cater for families with children. Sunset bar music on Tuesday & Thursday, Bar-b-q on Saturday, not to be missed ! Geraldine & Steve have a perfect place there for all of us dreaming of paradise, and the big smiles coming from the local staff make for a very special welcome indeed. A perfect spot in a perfect place, I will return over and over. Keep up the good work, to all of you at Aroa BIG thanks for making another stay so memorable, next time I will need to stay longer ... haha Kia Manuia Christian
I have been to many, many places in my life, but I have never experienced anything like it. Rarotanga is absolutely amazing, beautiful, splendid! There are no words, in any language on the planet to describe such paradise... Crystalline and turquoise waters, beaches with sparkling white sand, the soft sound of small waves that gently break on the shore... The primeval noise of the huge Pacific Ocean waves in the back ground... And then the sky ... sometimes of a transparent blue sometimes with indescribable spectacular colors that are reflected on the sea, creating an extremely fascinating and suggestive landscape.. Flowers... huge, colorful, scented ... Exotic palm trees... In Rarotonga you know that you are alive and you appreciate every moment of it ... you know that you are blessed to be here ... It's a privilege granted to few... The fruits ... succulent, juicy, enormous ... The people.... beautiful, genuine, charming, fascinating... always smiling, laughing, chatting... When you are here you are under a spell... you do not want to leave... What about Aro'a Beachside Inn? You could not be in a better place. This is absolutely the "Number One" in the island. Here you have the best Beach, the best Accommodation, the best Beach Bar and the best Hosts and staff. You could not possibly ask for more. Once in a life time offer a gift to the person you love or to yourself. The memory of the place and of the people will stay with you for ever.
Beautiful location on edge of the lagoon. Steve provided a personal touch with recommendations of what to do and where to eat. iconic beach bar was a great way to meet fellow guests.Saturday night BBQ,live music on Tuesday and Thursday nights. All perfect for a relaxing holiday!
Spent the night here before an onward flight to Aitutaki, we were looked after from the start with an early check-in (plus breakfast!) and help getting a rental car. Such a nice quiet place to while away the hours and nap after the nasty overnight flight. Was very happy to hang out with Dexter the golden retriever who reminded me of my boy back home!
Loved our stay here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Steve gives a great one on one welcome and things to do talk first morning, and even though we have been to raro before gave us new things to do and try (standing in jet blast as plane comes in was awesome!!!!). Room was lovely and clean with thought to detail like providing a sealed container for your food to protect from ants. Would stay again in a heartbeat if just to hear the banter of the girls at the bar and breakfast.
We stayed here in 2011, and decided to return this year, mainly for the position. West coast, great beach, safe snorkelling friendly staff. The new owners have been here two & a half years. The rooms have been repainted on the outside. The breakfast remains the same: fresh fruit, tea, toast, juice, coffee and fresh cooked muffins. Mostly these were delicious. Actually I'd also say the fruit selection has improved. As have the meals on site. The Shipwreck Bar is part of the resort, and the meals we had there were much improved on what we'd had six years ago. The Saturday BBQ was good value. Two small entrees, plenty of well cooked food, and the background music, provided by one of the owners was a pleasant surprise. His singing and guitar playing made for a lovely ambiance. We had paid for a late check out of 6pm, but were able to stay until 9pm, when we were to be picked up.
Wonderful stay, very relaxing. Pros. Amazing snorkelling best we have encountered in all the islands. Beach to ourselves most of the time. Clean and comfortable rooms, basic but have everything you need. Amazing staff, owners and Dexter the dog made the holiday very special. Shipwreck hut is a gem best place to view sunsets and cocktails too bad either :) Cons: None We will be back
Stayed on our way back from Aitutaki so it was always going to be a hard act to follow. Nice self contained rooms, more like apartments, clustered near the beach and bar with friendly and helpful staff. A little isolated compared to say Muri with no local shopping or restaurants of note but we did ok using the local bus an restaurant pickups. Don't expect a high end resort, more like a beach side rental with a communal bar and very friendly neighbours; good value for money. In fact we heard some other groups complaining about a couple of the high end resorts at 2 to 3 times the price. Go to CI for the environment and people not to lounge by a pool.
Linda & I stayed for 7 days in a beachside deluxe unit and it was a most enjoyable and relaxing stay. They have the lot covered. It's a really nice and quiet part of the island to relax, swim, snorkel, kayak, paddle board and walk on the beach. Steve, Geraldine and the staff are fantastic hosts and from the moment you arrive you feel you are a friend. They are all very helpful with information on what to see and do and with places to eat. Their Shipwreck Hut is a great place to relax and enjoy life. The live music is a really nice touch. This place is a must stay. Many thanks Neil & Linda
This was an awesome place to stay. The owners Geraldine and Steve were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The staff members also had lots of character, had a great sense of humour and were fun to be around. Breakfast around the shipwreck bar with fruit, muffins, coffee, toast and juice was a great way to meet the other guests staying at the hotel. The lagoon is beautiful and you can just walk down and swim, paddle board, kayak and snorkel with ease. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed. Dexter (Geraldine's and Steve's dog) is just part of the furniture as well as a family of chickens running around which gives the place even more character. It's a nice, quiet part of the island too which is close to some nice restaurants as well. The Saturday BBQ at the Shipwreck bar is very tasty as well as other dinner meals you can eat
