Ordered a soda water with ice. They add 10 baht on for the 3 ice cubes put in the glass. When queried this, the boss argued a d then said ok you dont pay this. With a bad tone and very bad attitude. Then the boss turns off the wifi as soon as the bill is paid. Terrible service, terrible attitude, avoid this place, the boss needs to rethink how he treats guests or he wont have any. The place is old and worn out. Badly maintained and much much better options on the island for accomodation and food and drinks
We stayed at Phayam Cottage Resort for 2 weeks and never ever have we had a more relaxing and cozy holiday. Incredible personnel at the resort - thanks for friendly and professionel service. The beach - take a look for yourselves. We’re coming back soon - guarenteed!!! There’s not much to see at Koh Phayam, but if you’re looking for a peaceful place for body and soul - look no further. And one last thing, or two - the food at the beachrestaurants and the fact, that there a very few tourists, just add up to the chance for having an amazing holiday. Just pure pleasure....
Comfortable room with aircon and hotel location is excellent right on a lovely beach and pool setting too. Breakfast acceptable. Hotel take cash only and upfront - like most of the island - and no ATM's. Rooms need smartening up as does garden which could be fabulous if attended to properly. Not great value for money limited wifi but staff pleasant.
We did not stayed here but ate lunch twice as we spent a couple of afternoons in this part of the island. The restaurant is decent priced, and the food is very good, as we visited in low season, the first day it felt like if we had the whole place for ourselves I would recommend this spot (beach/restaurant) to any island explorer who wants to chill out for a while, have a could beer and excellent Thai food.
A very small and 'rustic' place to stay. It is dirty all around, and in the resort. The beach is not looked after. Don't go here if you are looking for comfort or good food! But do go if you are looking for a 'Robinson Crusoe' backpack experience from an underdeveloped part of Thailand.
We stayed in Phayam Cottage Resort for 3 nights and really enjoyed our time there. The Bungalows are clean and new, the pool area is very nice especially when it's low tide and the beach is just amazingly white with turquoise water. The breakfast was good, Thai food is the better choice than the American breakfast ;) It's a nice choice to stay at Buffalo Bay, not the cheapest, but a good one :)
It is a great hotel to stay, love the location, clean rooms and very comfortable beds, great cleaning service and perfect for people who would like to relax. Everything is in driving distance and easy to reach on a scooter. Breakfast is included and you shouldn't expect too much for it, but great to start the day with some nice food and a coffee. The service staff there is nice and friendly, helps with everything you need, but the manager itself is pretty unfriendly. Place is great for people who would like to reconnect from the outer world as the wifi connection is pretty poor. Not sure why the restaurant is always empty, must be the food quality.
We had a particularly unfortunate stay at this "resort". The manager was awful. We stayed here in the off season in late April yet they charged full price for the rooms and refused to reduce the costs even when we rented two rooms. We would have gone somewhere else at this point but the couple we were traveling with preferred to stay rather than find another resort. We were told the rooms had fans (it was over 100 degrees). The fan was an old table top that no longer oscillated. The room was dirty, the bathroom was disgusting and had bugs in it, and the bed was as hard as could be, this is no resort. We were told breakfast was served until noon when we checked in then the next morning while we were swimming someone came to tell us breakfast was served until 10 and we needed to hurry if we wanted to get served. The chairs around the pool were dirty and moldy and there was a running generator just outside the property that smelled of diesel fuel especially at night so having the windows open to get air movement from the poor fan was not an option. We will return to Ko Phayam but never to Payam Cottage Resort and I would never recommend this place to anyone!
We visted Koh Phayam as we had heard that it was a relatively untouched paradise island, not at all touristy like some of the other thai islands. Unfortunately we visited during rainy season! Which meant that we couldn't really sit out on the beautiful beach. We had a family room which was big, clean and well-decorated, but the shower was essentially attached to the room with a tin roof which leaked because of all the rain. Also there was a strange 'garden' soil patch at the end of the shower - so there were quite a few small worms sharing the shower - not great if you are really squeamish about bugs. Because it was low season and the weather was very bad a lot of restaurants were closed so we ended up eating most of our meals at the hotel. TThe banana pancakes were excellent, and the curries were also good - big portions which was great. Also the staff were friendly and did well to serve us food in the restaurant despite the raging winds. There as a pool which we would have used more if it had stopped raining. The wifi worked in the restaurant and reception but not in our room, which was at the back of the resort away from the beach. I would probably stay here again if i returned to Phayam - just not in rainy season!
We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the island very much. The beach at Payam cottage is quiet and clean. We paid for a room with AC. The room is overpriced since there was no fridge or a kettle. The Burmese staff at the restaurant was very friendly and very helpful. I felt she was doing the managers job as she was suggesting us where to go and what to see on the island. The manager did none of that and never once smile :( Overall I would definitely go back to the island but will probably stay somewhere else
