Overall, this was a very pretty venue. Unfortunately, due to weather the hot tub was closed, but that wasn’t the main issue. My low rating is because of the lack of communication from the property owners.
We only stayed for one night, and my husband accidentally left behind a personal item—a gift from his grandfather that holds great sentimental value. Once we realized it was missing later that day, we immediately contacted the hotel. At first, they confirmed the item had been found and said we could pick it up. Since we couldn’t return in person, I asked if it could be shipped to Reykjavík (where we would be in four days) or alternatively to Canada, and I offered to pay all shipping costs.
It took them nine days to respond, and when they finally did, they asked for an address. After that, all communication stopped. Despite multiple follow-ups, we’ve heard nothing further. It has now been almost a month since the item was left behind.
I understand returning lost items may not be their responsibility, but a clear “yes” or “no” would have been better than being led on and ignored. The lack of follow-through and communication was very disappointing, especially given the sentimental value of what was lost.
I am willing to work with them still in hopes of getitng this item back, but for now I just wanted to be honest about my experience. Just be sure to never leave anything behind.
