We stayed at this guesthouse as part of an Intrepid Tour. This guesthouse is one of only a few that had in room toilet/shower facilities. The room was large with comfortable beds and pillows. The restaurant was a short walk away which served up a delicious dinner in the evening and the standard Scandinavian style breakfast in the morning. The guesthouse was located in a quietly remote area away from town and had free WiFi. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We’ve visited Smaratun and used the campsite. We only paid 1500 ISK per person for great facilities! We had a lot of space, a kitchen and (warm) dinner area, a clean toilet, et cetera. The shower is warm, but is outside (included in the price). There is also a hottub outside. Great place to see the Northern Lights if predictions are good (not much light pollution and a flat area). Good service, kind people, not crowded, and relatively cheap.

Had a great stay at Smaratun guesthouse. Clean facilities, common kitchen for all to use and super friendly and accommodating staff! Breakfast - and specially the home-baked bread! - was amazing and loved seeing the nordic swan label! We also went on a horse ride with Magdalena which was a great experience! Skilled guide and lovely horses. Thank you so much!

The hotel is nicely located and very quite. the rooms we got were a little old but nice and clean. very good beds. the staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is not very charming decorated. the food was ok and the beef was from their own farm but still 6000kr for this menu was too much. the food was ok but not more than that. all in all. hotel was good, restaurant not so much..

Only stayed one night and were told by our guide that we had the upgraded rooms, otherwise we would've had shared bathrooms. The upgraded rooms were clean, comfortable and well equipped. Staff were friendly and welcoming. As with everywhere in Iceland, everything was eye wateringly expensive and the veggie option for dinner was poor but all in all a very pleasant stay, thank you.

Beautiful surroundings. Rooms were big with nice bathroom. Everything was clean. When we asked the kitchen to use their microwave, they kindly heated up our food. Breakfast was wonderful. There were horses and farm animals around in a big farm. Would stay here again.

This hotel, guesthouse, campsite and cabins is in a beautiful location on a farm. The restaurant serves delicious local produce and the free sauna and hot tub is a great addition. Internet connection as a free wi-fi is as good as one would anticipate it to be in the countryside - it works :)

I stayed at their guesthouse - they have a hotel as well - and ate a typical Icelandic breakfast (cold cuts, bread, cheese, skyr, granola, fruit). Really nice place about 13 km from Road 1. Very quiet and relaxing. Apparently, you can get a great view of the aurora borealis during the winter here. Anyway, the room was extremely comfortable, and they were very kind and accommodating. Very weak wifi in the guesthouse. It's the sort of place that I wish I had stayed at for one or two more nights, just to relax in their hot tub or hang out by the petting zoo or go for a walk. Very nice. I hope to return one day.

This was certainly among our top 2 campsites in South Iceland. The guesthouse kitchen, hot showers, hot tub (!) and grill area all made for a top notch camping experience. The owners were incredibly nice and welcoming and the breakfast was wonderful. We were traveling alone as a couple, but this would have been a great little spot for kids with the little "vintage" playground as well as a trampoline. I would recommend to anyone camping in a tent or camper, although I cannot comment to the guesthouse rooms!

Stayed at the campsite for one night, and I was very happy with the choice. All sorts of farm animals which were very fun, and also the friendliest cat I have ever met. I'm pretty sure that cat is my soulmate. Staff was awesome and very helpful, and the hot tub was really nice.
