Cute property by the mountains.. Extremely quiet and peaceful. Staff/hosts were very kind and friendly. Would definitely stay there again!
The rooms were outstanding- clearly a lot of thought was placed into decor. Hotel Selja has a very intimate, personal feel that matches the best boutique hotels in NYC. Staff was friendly yet allowed for our privacy. The breakfast was cooked perfectly. Really couldn’t ask for a better stay. The view from the rooms can’t be beat as well.
Great spot to stay on the South Coast. Close to waterfalls and ferry to the Westmann Islands. FYI you do have to take a gravel road to get there. Everything was great--food, room, service. Highly recommend!
As a platinum member of a US chain, I was a little nervous... This hotel is isolated but in a fantastic location for seeing the waterfalls & excursions on the south road. The back drop of the hotel is the mountain / glacier, which is very picturesque and gorgeous. Check in: The time is pretty limited (5-730pm, I think?) - Iceland shuts down quite early. Due to dinner out, we struggled to arrive by 9pm - we called & found out the individual working the desk retires at 9. We must have been the last ones & they are very trusting - he did not ask for identification, etc as I have experienced in mainland Europe (i had pre-paid online). Room: Very clean, new, modern (IKEA style). Bathroom was wonderful - nice walk in shower, plenty of towels, shampoo & conditioner. I wish there was a small shelf in the shower. Our room - 2 twin beds (comfortable with nightstand & power outlets), satellite TV, Wi-Fi, chair, & mini-bar (quite expensive, as everything in Iceland is). However... we lost power in the night (~midnight) - I think a fuse blew only in our room (rest of hotel had power) but since the desk is not manned all night, we were unsure if we should call someone or not. It was restored at 6:30am in time to get ready for the day. Food: Not sure about dinner but breakfast was included - continental buffet (eggs, pastries, bananas/fruit, a fantastic coffee machine). Overall, I would stay here again due to the clean modern rooms, location & breakfast!
