What a wonderful introduction to Ecuador! My fiends and I spend two nights here. We wanted a place to relax, unwind and acclimatize after a long flight from Canada. What better place to stay than a 400 year old Hacienda in the country not far from the airport. We were met at the airport late at night by Washington who drove us to hotel and showed us to our room - the Luz de Luna. The room was lovely and spacious, perfect for three people. The next morning we were treated to an excellent breakfast served by two young women in traditional dress. Elizabeth, the owner, greeted us warmly and gave us a tour of the property. Hacienda Su Merced is a beautiful property with numerous antiques and artifacts in the house and on the grounds. We loved it. As out intention was to relax that is exactly what we did. We ate lunch and dinner here and spent the day resting and bird watching on the grounds (16 species). Although neither the staff nor Elizabeth spoke much English, communication was not a problem. The staff were friendly and helpful and Elizabeth even prepared special teas for my friend who was sick after the flight. We were very well cared for and the food was excellent.

This was a wonderful experience with the owners Raphael and Elizabeth being so welcoming and helpful nothing was too much trouble and Elizabeth’s cooking for the evening meals was delightful. It certainly gave us a great insight to Ecuadorean life

What an lovely oasis near the Quito airport! Staff were absolutely lovely, the 350-year-old hacienda is gorgeous and the food was delicious. We had a wonderful time here acclimatizing, doing a bit of birding and enjoying the views of Quito. I would go back in a heartbeat!

This beautiful hotel was a breath of fresh air before and after flights in to Quito. Quiet surroundings are a nice break. I got a stomach bug and the owner and kitchen staff took wonderful care of me, going above and beyond to treat me like family. *This trip actually took place January 2016, the drop down dates did not include that option

We recently spent two nights at this lovely bed and breakfast. Arriving on the red-eye after midnight we were picked up and taken to this lovely place only about 15 min from the airport. The driver Sr. Washington was wonderful!! What a magical way to wake up on our first day in Ecuador. It was like walking out into Oz!! There were wonderful grounds to walk around in with draping bougainvillea . A historic beautiful 350 year old home decorated very tastefully in antiques . The rooms also had handpainted wall hangings and sheets!! VERY clean and comfortable and yes there is wifi. The meals were in a beautiful kitchen and the food was EXCELLENT and there was alot of it!! The hostesses were very gracious and beautifully dressed. Would highly recommend for a place to stay in Quito. From there we went on to explore the Cloud Forest in Mindo and of course the Galapagos!!!

We stayed at this hotel both at the beginning and the end of our three week visit to Ecuador and it offered comfortable, friendly and relaxing conditions in which to charge and recharge our batteries. The rooms are quaint and delightful with comfortable beds and a large bathroom with all facilities. The main buiding is a lovely mix of colonial and traditional artefacts displayed in a most attractive way, including a lovely cozy dining room. The food was excellent in terms of presentation and quality, with plenty of love and imagination going into its preparation - quite delicious. All of the staff are extremely friendly - a genuine Ecuadorian characteristic. Finally there are pleasant gardens in which to wander, or dodge the rain, and decent WiFi available in the main building. We wouldn't hesitate in choosing the Su Merced as a place to stay again when next in Quito.

We stayed at Casa Su Merced for several hours before a late flight home from Quito airport. The property is very old, but well maintained, with many beautiful antiques throughout. Service was warm and they fed us an excellent dinner. It was quiet and restful. We would stay here again on a return trip.

I am fortunate to have been a guest in this magnificent historic bed and breakfast for many years. It is a retreat of peace and tranquility. I never tire of appreciating the beauty of the authentic Ecuadorian antiques. Some had custom changes to accommodate the need for modern day conveniences. The rooms contain antique paintings of saints and angels appropriate for the period. The uniquely decorated rooms are immaculate with custom bed sheets that are hand painted with matching flowers. The common areas are decorated with fresh roses throughout and patio windows to the ceiling allow a very picturesque view of the gardens with hummingbirds. The grounds are very lush with various flowers, rose bushes and tall trees that bloom a six inch wide yellow trumpet flower. The Spanish colonial chapel is exquisitely decorated and provides me with comfort. I feel very safe with the entire property secured by high walls, cameras and an automatic gate. WIFI is available in the common areas and rooms. Elizabeth is a wonderful chef who also provided extra touches on my birthday. All the meals were delicious with large portions. Breakfast was served with a variety of fresh regional fruit and dinner started with soup and ended with homemade desserts. Organic vegetables are grown on the grounds. Meals were the best time to appreciate the server’s colorful traditional indigenous clothes. Elizabeth also arranges transport to/from the airport and offers access to tour guides. The taxi driver/chauffer is friendly and very accommodating. Elizabeth and Raphael are always gracious hosts. I know I will keep returning to this little piece of heaven!

Most rooms are as you see on website. Nicely styled, clean. Good location. No complaints except that set menu for vegetarians AVOID. $25 for some fried mushrooms, beans and potato. Not worth it. As mentioned most of the rooms where fine, but the one I was booked in looked like an old, abandoned dead womens bedroom. Too many personal dusty antiques, like sewing machine, door, basin and other things etc. Too much clutter and not practical for stay.

we traveled back to the Galápagos again this year, and once again stayed at Su Merced with Elisabeth and Rafael. They are the most gracious and accommodating hosts one could have in a distant country. They make sure everything you need is taken care of, and do it with such grace. They will arrange transport to and from the airport(shout out to my friend Washington, best driver In Ecuador!, and can even accommodate a day trip for you if you are staying longer in Quito. The food they prepare for dinner was top notch. Su Merced is close to the airport, so very convenient and is the quaintest villa with a neat history. The price is right, and you will make some new friends. We hope to go back again someday and we will definitely stay here. Thank you Elisabeth & Rafael. Greg, Judy, and Elizabeth
