This is an ecolodge. The grounds are a paradise, a Garden of Eden in the middle of the rain forest, the attention devoted to the gardening and outdoor milieu is remarkable, the work of a lifetime and of love. We highly recommend staying here, extended our initial two nights to four. For the price it is an absolute steal. The rooms (cabins) are spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen and pleasant furnishings, but in rustic style. Very comfortable, but not luxurious if that is what you are looking for. Internet is spotty in the rooms, no coffee in the rooms and no a/c (though the fans were enough most of the time). Pool is for cooling off only, not big enough to swim. Breakfast is a simple version of the standard Costa Rican breakfast. Do not eat other meals here, we had a dinner which was simply terrible. The staff is friendly, but with the exception of the owner and front desk do not speak English. We loved staying here, it is a paradise, but there is a tension between the loving effort they devoted to the grounds, cabins, the exterior, and the level of service provided. There is a feeling that everything has been very carefully measured, e.g. you get just a certain amount of fruit for breakfast, not more. So we recommend forgetting the limited problems and highkly recommend staying here.

Very private, with a lot tings to see.the staff was really helpful to us .

This was an amazing place to stay. It is secluded and close enough to visit Manuel Antonio without feeling like you are stuck in the hotel zone. You get a private bungalow surround by plants. The owners are really accommodating and have great information about activities around the area.

La Palapa is a great place to enjoy a quiet vacation. A hidden oasis with wonderful staff, exquisit grounds, and beautiful bungalows, my partner and I really enjoyed our time there. Christina, a former chemical engineer turned resort owner/cook was accommodating and welcoming. She shared stories, photos, humor. Regarding location, this is the perfect place for a family with kids or anyone aiming to get away from the hussle and bussle of city life. Nearby are a couple of semi-private beaches (ask for a map!) and not much else. A great getaway! This hotel doesn't list itself as LGBT friendly but indeed, we felt warmly welcomed.
