Had a wonderful stay here with my girlfriend and our friend during our first 3 days in CR. Chad was nothing but helpful and hospitable. His knowledge and expertise of the country made us feel comfortable and welcomed. He took his time to show us around and had great recommendations for us. The hotel is clean and spacious. Situated right across the beach it's perfect for get away. It's a bit secluded so be prepared to take a taxi into town or walk.
Our experience at Cocomar Beachfront Hotel was wonderful!!! Chad (the owner) is great and always concern about ensuring you are comfortable and enjoying your stay. The rooms are very clean and the staff are extremely helpful. I happened to have a flat tire with the hotel staff being so helpful in replacing my vehicle's tire. The beach is approximately 100 meters from the hotel with beautiful blue water, soft sand, and plenty of space. One can walk for miles and see less than a hand full of people with vegetation and coconut trees as a backdrop to the beach. I cannot say enough of the hotel and it's location. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
What an excellent hotel at a beautiful beach with a wonderful owner (Chad) and his fabulous staff! From the second we walked into reception, we were greeted so warmly! We had discussed our planned activities and Chad had recommended the Monkey Mangrove Tour (which wasn't on our list), but trust me when I say....you can trust him and any recommendations he makes for you and your family (it was one of the best experiences on our trip)! We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Cocomar and we were sad to leave. The location is great, right outside of town, nice and quiet, but convenient when you head out for your adventures! The sunsets are gorgeous, the beach is pristine, and we even played a little beach volleyball! The Cocomar has a wonderful pool that is warm enough to walk right into, but cool enough to ease you from the days heat. They have a restaurant on site, which the food was ok, but it was definitely a great convenience from when you were too exhausted from playing all day to head back out. I hate to say anything negative, because we had nothing but fun and absolutely loved our time here. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Cocomar Beachfront Resort!!!!
We do not like crowds, we love space, comfort, security, convenience, cleanliness, and beauty. Cocomar aced it! 5 miles from the main road, 4x4 is not necessary, we found our private place. A party of 6, we had reserved two garden rooms directly with the hotel. We were surprised and pleased to find upon arrival that the owner Chad upgraded us to the Ocean Suite for the same price!!! We had two bedrooms (two queens, a king, and a twin), 2 en suite bathrooms, a full kitchen, a huge living room, and 3 furnished balconies overlooking the Pacific!! There was a restaurant on site with a bar. We enjoyed some beers, dinner, and a free breakfast. It was delicious! Please don't mistake this hotel to be a "Four Seasons", I don't believe something like that exists in Costa Rica, but comfortable, clean, and convenient!! We enjoyed walking for miles and miles on a beautiful secluded beach with mountain back drops. We enjoyed the staff and other guests respecting each others privacy. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean and pool, and the fresh and delicious meals. Honestly, I can't even begin to express how wonderful our stay was. If you like a party, loudness, lots of people ... this is not for you. If you are like us, don't pass this place up! You will not be disappointed. Thank you Chad and staff. We will never forget our stay in paradise!
Beautiful hotel right on the beach, nothing around it. You have to ride a dirt road but it worth it. We saw so many crabs, birds and butterflies at the beach and around the hotel. Water was clean, calm and warm.
We had a fantastic 3-night stay at Cocomar Beachfront Hotel. After talking with friends who had visited Manuel Antonio we decided to avoid the crowds and chaos of the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area and stay a little bit north of there near the Playa Palo Seco. This was a great decision for us - we (family of four, two kids 10 and 12) loved our stay at Cocomar. The hotel is less than 100 meters from the beautiful beach and offers the amenities you would expect of a beachfront resort. We were an easy drive (~35 minutes) from Manuel Antonio and we went there twice during our stay (as well as going on the Monkey Mangrove Tour and up into the nearby mountains for the La Iguana Chocolate tour). The hotel proprietor, Chad, and his assistant, Maria, were amazing! They advised us on activities in the area and made the booking arrangements for us. They helped us add an extra night onto our stay at the last minute and also arranged for us to move to a room with an ocean view on our second night! We really appreciated their efforts to make a stay there fantastic.
We stopped here briefly to dip in the Pacific and we enjoyed the chilled vibe. Rooms had everything we needed and beautiful sea views. The beach was amazing with very warm seas (in April) and very few people, just a few meters from the hotel. The hotel pool and jacuzzi also served us well in the local heat. The restaurant served up a good burrito when we were too lazy to go out. Wifi got spotty at times which is likely fixable based on my techy partner's analysis - but staff were willing to reboot when our devices got pushed off the user license so this did not impede us. Chad (the friendliest smiling hotel manager I have ever met) is soul of the hotel. Very comfortable overall- we would have happily stayed longer.
We loved our 2 night stay here. The beach (a few yards away) seems endless and has incredible sunsets. It's perfect for walking or running, and we did both. The hotel is very nice. The unit is big enough, has nice views and is very clean. Everyone enjoyed the breakfast including my gluten free wife. The pool is small but perfect for this place. I was worried there might not be enough lounge chairs, but that wasn't an issue. If the Wif-Fi has issues ask them to reset and the issue is resolved. We got lost on the way and Chad the manager was able to navigate us through a town about 2 hours away. Chad brings a south Florida chill to the place. He was very helpful with my wife and the gluten issues and all other concerns. Someone trying to make a difference in this remote off the dirt road place. Just outside of Parrita, find it and enjoy.
Pros: Beautiful well managed property and Rooms , on the beach, private-like - very few people on the beach - no crowds. Very serene and beautiful beach. Note:Darker sand, not white like Mexico. Much nicer time here at cocomar, than driving down to the totally crowded Manuel antonio beach where you spend money to buy ticket and more for parking. Cons: A bit from the town - Rent a car since Taxi can get really expensive incase you want to move around, $50 one way to Manuel Antonio Beach which is 45 min away, to and from this place. Sand flies around on the beach at times. Its like anything else - few things in nature places you cant control and this is one of them. We had no issues, they didn’t bother us. We were here for three nights and Chad ( the owner) was great and has done an awesome job setting up and maintaining this place. Chad focusses on giving quality service and not just profit. He tries to help out with any issues one may face and helps out wherever he can. We had a great time at this place and have nothing to complain about. Very clean and beautiful place. Pool is beautiful and nice. Property is awesome and well maintained. Restaurant is in nice setting with good quality food ( typical cost 10 - 12$ US per serving). Server's and Kitchen Staff very cordial and courteous. Theres a Pizza delivery place in town in case you want some choice of food - ask for their number at front desk and give a good 45 min for pizza to arrive. Decent pizza for the price.. Room Tip: Ask for ocean facing room during booking. Rooms booked thru expedia are garden view only.
I stayed here with my family of 4 for two nights and I am still not sure how I feel about this place. The room was clean and nice enough. The pool area was very nice and my kids enjoyed it immensely. They had a few balls that you could borrow from the front desk which was a nice touch. The breakfast was good and a nice start to the day. The location, while remote, was fine for us since we had a rental car. It was a nice little drive along the ocean to the nearest town. The owner was extremely passionate about his hotel. I am not sure to whether file this under pro or con. He did seem willing to go out of his way to make your stay acceptable, to the point of searching me out in the pool area when I commented on my expedia check in that the beds were hard and offering to change rooms (which made me feel a bit uncomfortable given that there were other guests in the pool). The ocean is very close and the beach was nice and clean and private. However, it was not safe for swimming in my opinion due to the undertow. I had read up on this but was not prepared for it. I thought we were being safe when we only went in to our waists but after about an hour of being in the water my 10-year-old got stuck in the undertow and started being pulled out to sea. My husband had to really work to get him out. It was scary. Please be careful!!! (I thought we were. I would not swim there again.) The housekeeping could use improvement. They forgot coffee, left us dirty reusable coffee cups and forgot to replenish our towels one night. All in all, for the relatively inexpensive price we paid I think we got what we paid for. It was a good home base for our daytrips and any issues we had were either rectified or minor.
