LOcated in multi layer configuration, hanging onto the rock slopes and looking out to the lake, the property is worth staying. You can look at the waterfront from most of the floors. The breakfast spread was superb. The location is just ideal for taking a walk to the esplanade center, the botanical garden as well as the lake banks. You can choose to go for some water sports .
Clean, well located and every room had a view. Staff were helpful without being warm. The property is a little aged and would benefit from a refit. Located on a busy road but it’s a 15 minute walk into the heart of Queenstown. The restaurant is basic but who eats in their hotel when in a party town?
Such comfortable beds and a lovely view of the lake and the restaurant and food was nice as was the breakfast, the service was good. All in all a good place to stay, close to town .Thank you for a nice stay...
heavenly view, beautiful rooms. spacious and comfortable. My family and I had a great time. well equipped kitchen, quiet rooms, and friendly staff. no problems at all. would definitely stay here again.
We had two nights here on a bus tour. The rooms were spacious and well appointed once you found your way. There are several blocks and lots of corridors to navigate. The restaurant offered great breakfasts with plenty of choice and the evening buffet also was great. Free wifi was available and we had a stunning view over the lake from the side verandah.
Good location, a little bit pricey for what it is. Paint was peeling off the walls and linen smelt of bleach. Good sized, clean rooms, free parking. Great Lake view. I probably wouldn’t stay again due to value for money.
Stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a coach tour, and initial impressions of the hotel were fine. Our room was on the first floor and whilst the view of the mountains and the lake were excellent, there was a lot of traffic noise as the hotel is in the main highway out of Queenstown. Higher floor rooms may not be as affected by the traffic noise. The room itself was quite large and reasonably furnished and had a small kitchen area. Patio doors opened onto quite a large balcony which was unfortunately affected by the traffic noise, and also the wooden balcony railings were rotting and in need of repair. Housekeeping needs to be improved as well, as we left the hotel at 10.00am only to arrive back at 5.00pm to find the room had still not been made up. A complaint to reception remedied this but the excuse given was that the housekeeping staff had been busy! We only ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast, and the food was average and the atmosphere quite frantic. There is a small bar but it was closed when we went to get a drink at around 9.30pm, although the receptionist did offer to get us a drink. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk into town, which was fine for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Queenstown, despite the issues with the hotel, and enjoyed eating in the restaurants by the harbour. This hotel could be good but does need some investment and more proactive management to bring about the required improvements.
all rooms facing the lake , our 2nd floor room was very clean and quiet, going to queenstown was a reasonable walk downhill [about 15min ] of course uphill all the way back[$9 dollar taxi ride ]extra good choices for breakfast ,and two restaurants for dinner main restaurant ;hillarys; was a reasonable price for a hotel but good food and service.,on leaving the lift was out so the manager carried our bags down to the foyer , good service
This is a large over 200 room hotel with primarily Chinese Groups as guests. The location is just a bit outside the center of Queenstown. Walking distance if you don’t mind a short fairly steep walk up from downtown. We used the inhouse garage, which at $5.- per day turned out a very fair and practical arrangement. Not all rooms have sea view, so we recommend you make sure to get a room with sea view as the vistas are well worth it. Rooms are very comfortable and contain all what one expects of such an hotel. Checking and checkout was very smooth and the staff we met were all very friendly and most helpful. For meals it is best to walk or drive the short distance to the city center as the restaurant is not suited for individual diners. We enjoyed our stay at the Copthorn Lakefront and can recommend this hotel.
The staff were very nice and accomodating, letting us store extra luggage before and after our stay. However the rooms we booked had such a strong lingering smoke smell that my partner needed his inhaler, and I had to take allergy meds because my nose almost immediately started running once i entered and i was sneezing constantly. The food was average and they had forgotten one of our rooms orders so they had to choose from the after hours menu as the main kitchen had closed. The actual location is close to town so it was handy to walk there.
