This is a review for the restaurant - Hillary’s - not the hotel (we ate here but didn’t stay). We wanted something close to our Airbnb as we’d had a long day on the road and this was the closest option. We didn’t have high expectations at all but were pleasantly surprised. The service was warm and efficient, and the food very nice - the roasted cauliflower soup in particular was extremely tasty and the burger also good.
You can surely believe all the pictures that you see about this property in the internet. It is just in front of the lake and views from the room balcony are great. The rooms themselves are huge and have basic equipment needed - Iron, hair dryer, kettle. The Breakfast was superb and had great variety. Wifi is free only for Millenium members
We are an American family who travelled in NZ for 16 days. We mostly stayed at small family run motels. All of these were vastly superior to this property. The beds were far and away the worst beds we experienced. Everything about the room was run-down. The property is not walking distance from town. The patio has a board which obscures the views of the lake when you sit down. Take your money elsewhere.
Yes we had to book in December however at $525 a night we expected a bit more. Ground floor terrible road noise, curtains are old so sun streams through, terrible bathroom, no cutlery only tea cups and kettle. For what we paid absolutely disgusted kiwis. Pay less for much better accomodation around NZ with just as spectacular views. Way out dated and would not recommend to anyone
A group of 5 of us stayed here for three nights over the NY’s period. The room is very spacious and comfortable. Although upon arrival there was nothing mentioned over the phone or website about a $300 bond. We contacted the hotel over the phone throughout the year making sure everything was paid for but still nothing about the bond. The organisation within reception and staff is awful and the customer service is terrible except for the lady at the bar. Definitely would not have thought it was a 4 star accomodation. Everything else was enjoyable and it is a lovely place.
Stayed here for three nights after arriving in New Zealand. Room was very spacious with comfortable beds and a small kitchenette area. Everything spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast in restaurant (not included in rate). We had dinner there one evening which was pleasant if quiet. We used the bar twice and each time we weremtge only people there. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from Queenstown centre and a very busy road runs in front if the hotel. Good lake view.
the location of the hotel is very good has nice lake view rooms is 15 mins from the airport and the city centre overall a good place to stay in terms of location and value for money bit the hotel is old property as compared to resorts so if copthrone resort is available will preferr the resort over the hotel.
Thank you so much, Japanese manager and other staff. Although they took care of other guests, they helped me enough when I left my souvenirs at the connectabus. I had to leave a few hours later, so I couldn't take back them. But I could finish my first NZ visit comfortably. (It’s all my fault)
We booked this apartment about 6 months before we travelled and were not certain what style / quality of accommodation to expect. I contacted the hotel on a number of occassions beforehand and they were great with the feedback. When we checked in the reception desk was very helpful . The room was a 2 story unit with the bedrooms upstairs.( not very good for older people). The condition of the apartment was very clean and tidy and all facilities were available. I only have one negative and that is the room needs a good freshen up ...needs .painting / and a replacement of some of the furnishings .
We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with our two kids. It was relatively clean and had everything we needed. It was nice and big and had an amazing view. The balconies themselves however had dead plants, rotting wood in the planter box and peeling paint. It was quit close to town but the walk back is a bit steep so because we have a toddler we tended to drive. While it was clean the shower curtain smelled very strongly of damp even though there was no visible signs of mould. The couch was also quite dusty & could use a good vacuum. Otherwise the bathrooms & the rest of the apartment looked very clean. I found the staff really helpful and personable. The only other peeves were that our room was not ready a check-in and they were very evasive about when it would be ready, saying "1 minute, 1 minute'. It would have been better if they just own up to the fact it won't be ready for another couple of hours and we could go out and do something rather than coming back too early and having to sit in the lobby waiting for our room to be ready. Also what hotel in 2017 does not have free wifi and charges for using a credit card? Seriously. We got a good rate so I think it was value for money but probably would not recommend it to friends.
