Copthorne Hotel & Apartments Queenstown Lakeview4.0 out of 5.0

Take care when booking with a booking agency that you have booked the Lakeview hotel rather than the apartments which are 300 metres up the road. We thought we had booked into the hotel, but were directed up the road to the less impressive apartments. They were cheaper and the quality reflected this. Staff were first class but the rooms were showing their age.
I spent 3 nights in a room here with my family of 4. The room was large which was good. It was too cold to make use of the balcony which was a shame. The view was nice from my third floor room. The heating wasn't that great and I wish it could have been adjusted in room. Bathroom was fine. The hotel itself has seen better days. But it was fine for somewhere to sleep at night. It is too far to walk to town with young children. Free undercover parking which was nice.
The lakeside room we got was totally worth it. We could see the lake and all the snow clad mountains around. The room was clean and tidy and the staff was very helpful. A little on the expensive side but loved it.
My partner and I stayed for 2 nights in July 2017 after spending 4 nights at the other Copthorne Hotel and Resort. I would say this Hotel to be the better of the two. We stayed in a level 4 (top level) superior Lakeview room and it was brilliant. It had a kitchenette and the bathroom was superb. The few from the balcony was stunning. Only negative would be that I booked a room with 1 queen bed and instead our room had 2 double beds. But however due to booking late and it being the peak time this was not a huge issue. The balcony was great, especially on the last 2 days when it started snowing! This hotel has a spa / gym as well as a really nice bar area with fire. I've been to Queenstown a couple of times now and I would recommend this Hotel as my hotel of choice. Included is an underground car park which was free and was very useful if hiring a car as we did. Superb hotel, superb town, Queenstown during the snow season is truely amazing and this Hotel was a great way to end our trip!
We paid about $360NZD per night in early June for this one. So I expected alot. Unfortunately it did not deliver. The view from our two bedroom top floor apartment was great, but the downstairs heater in the living room and kitchen was well sub par. So much that we complained and were offered a small portable heater that barely made a difference. It made the downstairs portion of the room unbearable. There was a 2 for 1 breakfast special, but the buffer was nothing special. I would have been annoyed if I had paid full price. Wifi is not free which is pretty uncommon, but I read other reviews now that you can join their club for free and get free wifi. Parking is good and the walk into the city centre was about 15-20 mins and quite manageable. Overall, an average hotel at a high cost.
Stayed in a 2 bed apartment with 5 of us. 1 bed downstairs in. 2 singles and a queen upstairs. 2 bathrooms. 2 toilets. Very comfortable. Heaps of space. Room made up everyday. Good heating. Would recommend
There are 2 Copthorne hotels which is extremely confusing. After turning up to the wrong one, we made it to the one we had booked. The staff were incredible. They were extremely busy and due to lots of late check outs that day they couldn't get us into our room straight away. But when they did it was beautiful and they made sure we got a great king size room/bed for the whole week. They gave us free wifi as an apology which was great but honestly, a hotel of this standard should have free wifi regardless. Every interaction with staff was great. They were always extremely friendly and helpful and remembered our faces. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was very yummy and reasonably priced so we ate there after skiing most days rather than walking all the way into town. The staff really made our stay very special, thank you.
This is a great place to base yourself for Queenstown stay. Our family of 5 had heaps of space in our 2 bedroom, 2 story apartment. The kitchen had everything you need. Oven, 2 burner stove top, microwave. The laundry on floor 1 was convenient enough if you need. Our view over the lake was terrific. The place could use some more updates in the public areas but is clean and warm!
Very outdated and not too well maintained. Room size is big and view of the lake is nice but that's really anything good about it. The style, the quality of breakfast or service stays in 50 years ago.
All round a great place to stay for a short trip. Service I found excellent - every staff member I dealt with went above and beyond the point of call. I felt ill one morning and the staff went and brought me some fruit from the kitchen free of charge. They also allowed me free usage of a phone charger both nights after I forgot mine and let me store my luggage after checking out so I could do a quick trip to Arrowtown before my flight. The room was on the second floor with an alright view of the lake (not undisturbed by buildings but pretty decent). The room was very clean and had a good range of amenities. I appreciated the heater being left on to ensure the room temp. Bed was comfy, TV worked fine and little to no noise. I only had minor issues - the shower in my room was literally at a trickle. The wifi set up was also difficult to understand so I ended up using my phones data. I think they just needed a book with all the hotel info in an obvious place so people are aware of how to connect etc. All in all though I must admit I spent little time in the hotel room but what little time I spent was a great experience.
