Really professional service from the reception staff and Mr. Kenta and Ms Sheng, a very warm welcome. With a service like this must make it very tough competition for all the other hotels out there. Nice room witj a wonderful view (1366) with an attention to detail that is far beyond 5 stars. Excellent value and a pleasure to stay with Shangri-La group; top of the class by a long way. THANKYOU !!
What an amazing and outstanding visit in large part to this hotel and its employees! We came to Quingdao for a friend’s wedding and we stayed at the Shangri-La for four nights. It is the best hotel we have stayed at in all of our five years in China! Our very first day we met Anny from the front desk and Jim from the concierge desk. They define the type of above and beyond service that one no longer expects but often wishes for. I had to make two scrap books for the wedding and needed to find stickers, Anny brought out her own supplies for me but they were not quite right so she took the time and personally walked me over to the nearby stationary store which had everything I needed! Then when my phone ran out of minutes, Jim literally went in line and helped us get the minutes we needed! The rooms are wonderful, clean and very comfortable and their breakfasts are amazing! Chef Fabio is attentive even to any need and remembers your name. I wanted something that I did not see out and ten minutes later it was at our table! Alvin is also an amazingly attentive and helps to make your visit to the breakfast am pleasant one! Every employee had a smile and was ready to help. How nurtured and pampered we felt, thank you Shangri-La Quingdao.... WE WILL BE BACK SOON!
Overall a pleasant place to stay but beds very hard. Arrived quite late (after midnight) and was looking forward to a quick check in but it took longer than expected. Rooms a good size and were set up to minimise light and traffic noise coming in. Unfortunately lifts and corridors smelt of smoke and hot breakfast items lukewarm and congealed.
I stayed in Shangri-La hotel 3 nights and could receive an amazing service. The workers are able to speak English (this is not normal in China) so everything can be easier. The structure is really good. Up to date gym, nice indoor swimming pool and the room is very clean and beautiful. Near of hotel you can find everything you can need and a big shopping mall is in front. I strongly recommend it.
We've stayed here a few times so far. The City Wing is cheaper because it's old. The rooms are okay but definitely not as nice as the Valley Wing. The Valley Wing is where the lounge is and everything there is newer. Location wise it's right next to a big shopping mall and a short walk to May 4 Square and the water, so very convenient. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We have an infant and they've always provided a baby cot (though an old wooden one that is not really deep enough for babies who can pull themselves up to standing). The food is decent but for some reason Chinese buffets seem to have issues keeping their food properly hot. Not the same level as Shangri La Hotels elsewhere but decent enough for Qingdao.
I flew into Qingdao on business on Thursday 15th of March, landing late we transferred to the Shangri-La Qingdao. Checking in at 11pm check-in was fast and efficient the room was the usual high standard you come to expect from Shangri-La. A massive comfortable bed, fresh fruit and a welcome note all go a long way to making a quick visit more memorable. The breakfast array is vast and of a high quality with great coffee. As we were bouncing out to Jinan for one night concierge looked after our baggage and organised a transfer to Qingdao North rail station. A great experience, the reception staff were exceptional, we are back in Qingdao on the 17th and are back at the Shangri-La Qingdao and looking forward to it.
Once again, the staff in the Valley Wing Lounge do not disappoint. Kenta, and his entire staff are always there to help and always have a smile on their faces. Business brings me to Qingdao a couple of times a year, and I could not imagine staying anywhere else. There is always such a warm welcome and whatever they know I need, is in my room. Also, I think the beds, bedding, and pillows are the most comfortable of anywhere I have stayed (and I travel often).:)
My son and I traveled to Qingdao for 1 night. We took an Airport bus, which dropped us off close, maybe 5-10 minute walk (no direct bus to hotel), but it was ok. Our room on 17th floor, was very nice, big, and nice big bathroom and shower. The location of hotel was great, next door is a big mall, for shopping, eating, and of course coffee. Hotel has a nice pool also. The hotel quality is very high, but was very affordable. People were friendly. In the morning, the concierge called a taxi for us, and taxi was ready when I checked out. Taxi to airport is about $20 USD, so I recommend taking a taxi if you can. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, especially if it is your first time visiting.
The hotel is an older establishment in the CBD area of Qingdao, which itself is quite a compact city in the Northern province of Shandong. Upon arriving at the hotel after 35 min taxi ride from airport passing by some heavily polluted industrial areas, we were greeted by a group of friendly and well trained staff. The lobby was ornate with Chinese New year red decorations everywhere. Lifts were fast and almost no waiting time for the whole time we were there. Our room, although not big was well designed. Bathroom was clean, newly renovated with high quality amenity. Our bed was comfortable with clean, white crisp linen and pillows. I had asked for a lavender pillow and it was there waiting for me. Our reservation comes with breakfast and dinner buffet. The food and service at the restaurant was nothing less than great. Many local and international dishes were presented together with varieties of hot and cold beverages. A very smart packages offer by the hotel group, a full board choice for someone who opt to stay and dine in the hotel of their choice. Our tips to the restaurant staff was refused and we were told that was their privilege and honour to serve us. Concierge team went backward to help us getting taxi and providing us with directions and suggestions. They even greeted us upon our return from sightseeing and asked how it went. We felt like coming home every time we return. This hotel is a fresh breath of air which sets it apart from many modern hotels in the exterior but hollow and inhospitable inside. The Qingdao Shangrila although was not modern and impressive at first sight has won our hearts with their services, a truly good choice for picky travellers who too often wrongly choose a book by its cover.
As a visiting business man from the West it has been my privilege the last several years to stay in one of the top hotels in all of China. I could mention that I like the beautiful yacht club near by and the new shopping mall next door but what impresses me most is the excellent service in their Executive Lounge. Becky and her co-workers remembers my name and greets me with a heart felt smile that makes a person from the other side of the world feel right at home. Thanks to all the staff that goes a step beyond excellence.
