I was in Qingdao for business meeting. I needed a hotel that will provide a great service, will not be too far away from the heart of the city and will offer good spa for relaxation. Le meridian provided all of these. I was taken care very well. The check in was easy, breakfast (especially the noodle soup) was really good and the exercise facility was also great. I will definitely return and stay here again.
Had a great stay after a busy business trip to tier 4 cities so was nice to get back to a SPG property and was not disappointed. Special thanks to Sarah and Penny and the the generally for making me feel at home.
Stayed there for single night with my wife and young son. At that time it was about my wedding anniversary, so left some message to the manager in advance. When checking in, the staff members from the lobby at the first floor truly showed hospitality to my family. It was so touching and also got room upgrade to Suite as a platinum member. Room was so huge and condition was also good that we were able to set up small party at night. Also they have cozy swimming pool and fitness center at the third floor. Finally during happy hour from 5:30 to 8p.m. you can enjoy decent food which tastes good and quite numerous at the lounge. But the thing is kindness and warmness from their staff. I've hardly experienced that feeling especially in China.
My wife and I went to Qingdao on a 5 day vacation so comfort and service were very important to us. Le Meridien satisfied on both counts. We stayed in a suite and the spacious modern design made us feel like we never left home. The room was clean and view was nice. We especially appreciated the walk-in closet. The staff were competent, friendly and many spoke good English. There are two people I'd like to compliment in particular. One was Hugo who helped us with certain requests in a very professional way. His easy-going manner and competence made use feel like valued guests and that our needs were his top priority. Another person was Justin Zhang. My wife and I had come back late to the hotel on Mid-Autumn Festival. We didn't get a chance to get any mooncakes so we went to the lobby lounge to hunt for some mooncakes to buy. They informed us that they didn't have any at the lounge. Needless to say we were a bit disappointed. Justin happened to walk by and heard our request. He promptly went to the back and came back out with 6 mooncakes! We offered to pay but he said it was on the house. This above and beyond service really surprised and delighted us. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The hotel is located in a convenient location which allowed us to visit various places in the city with ease. We would stay at Le Meridien again should we ever go back to Qingdao. I'm back home now and I find myself missing the hotel. My only regret was not getting the chance to experience all of its amenities.
This was an wonderful hotel. Waiters were kind. Especially Hugo from club lounge impressed me most. I think he is one of the best servers in the starwood hotel. He often asked me about my experience when living in the hotel. He gave me some cookies when he knew that I liked cookies. He was good at chatting with guests. Chatting with him made me relaxed. We often shared our own travelling experiences with each other. And I believed that he was a really good guy. In general, I think this is an excellent hotel.
I was upgraded to an "King Size Deluxe" room and it was extremely spacious (make that grand) and comfortable. Qingdao is a beautiful city, especially at night with buildings lit up like nowhere else. The breakfast was delicious and service was great (not too many at the hotel when I was there in September although I am told it is the best time to visit the area). Loved this city and this hotel was great to stay in - recommended!
The staff there were really bad. I waited for almost 10 mins for checking in. They didn't upgrade my room as a benefit for gold member and the staff checked in seems a little bit angry after I asked him if I could be upgraded.
The hotel is located in CBD with quite some shopping places and numbers of restaurants surrounding. A couple of miles to the seashore and other tourists spots. We have not tried Subway. Used taxi mostly which was not bad at all except this gated parking lot in front of the hotel. Grand shinny lobby for sure. Room was pretty good too with a nice separated tub and shower in the bath room. One thing I could not get over was the glass wall between bedroom and bath room. What was the purpose? Lounge was on 29th with a very nice setting. Snack and fruit were very good during the afternoon and evening. There were a few things interesting: no bottled water at lounge; breakfast was lousy. Noodle stand was a joke. The broth was with tomato and eggs soup which I had never tried before and didn't like it at all. And there is no alternatives. The dried noodle without broth was equally bad. The steamed buns were cold and not much flavor. We were at a beautiful lounge but really no good food to eat. You have other restaurant options right outside of the hotel in Wanda plaza. Another confusing thing was calling the tax at the lobby. As they have a gated parking lot, no taxi could come in except dropping off the customers. When we were at the lobby and ask doorman to get a taxi. He said we had to get to street side to haul one which could be easy or difficult. And most taxi driver didn't want to drop us off at the entry. They just asked us to get out on the side road then we walk a few steps back. Services were OK.. most staff didn't have a habit of greeting people yet and just stood there waiting for you to ask them something. Overall, a good stay but definitely not a five star hotel in terms of services and food.
The hotel is very nice and the rooms are pleasant and comfortable. No problem there, it is to be expected for a 5-star hotel and Starwood is my favorite brand. But .... There is more food variety offered in an airplane than in their room service menu - it is only 1 page of pitiful stuff. The breakfast buffet was the poorest one I have experienced relative to all other equivalent hotels I stayed in China. Most of the staff has difficulty communicating in English and was not as pleasant as in other 5-star hotels in China - had a somewhat annoying experience with the ordering, service, and payment at the bar. Last but certainly not least, public toilets and toilets in at least 4 other rooms that I know of, including mine, overflew.
Air condition in the room worked well which cannot be said for most hotels. The staff was responsive to replace the hot water kettle in the room that did not work. The room was quiet even though it was next to the elevator. The buffet breakfast offers good selections. The location is excellent next to Wanda Plaza. A supermarket for picking up snacks and fruits is in the mall basement . The furniture in the room is showing wear and tear and may warrant replacement to live up to the Le Meridien's standard.
