The staff there were really bad. I waited for almost 10 mins for checking in. They didn't upgrade my room as a benefit for gold member and the staff checked in seems a little bit angry after I asked him if I could be upgraded.
The hotel is located in CBD with quite some shopping places and numbers of restaurants surrounding. A couple of miles to the seashore and other tourists spots. We have not tried Subway. Used taxi mostly which was not bad at all except this gated parking lot in front of the hotel. Grand shinny lobby for sure. Room was pretty good too with a nice separated tub and shower in the bath room. One thing I could not get over was the glass wall between bedroom and bath room. What was the purpose? Lounge was on 29th with a very nice setting. Snack and fruit were very good during the afternoon and evening. There were a few things interesting: no bottled water at lounge; breakfast was lousy. Noodle stand was a joke. The broth was with tomato and eggs soup which I had never tried before and didn't like it at all. And there is no alternatives. The dried noodle without broth was equally bad. The steamed buns were cold and not much flavor. We were at a beautiful lounge but really no good food to eat. You have other restaurant options right outside of the hotel in Wanda plaza. Another confusing thing was calling the tax at the lobby. As they have a gated parking lot, no taxi could come in except dropping off the customers. When we were at the lobby and ask doorman to get a taxi. He said we had to get to street side to haul one which could be easy or difficult. And most taxi driver didn't want to drop us off at the entry. They just asked us to get out on the side road then we walk a few steps back. Services were OK.. most staff didn't have a habit of greeting people yet and just stood there waiting for you to ask them something. Overall, a good stay but definitely not a five star hotel in terms of services and food.
The hotel is very nice and the rooms are pleasant and comfortable. No problem there, it is to be expected for a 5-star hotel and Starwood is my favorite brand. But .... There is more food variety offered in an airplane than in their room service menu - it is only 1 page of pitiful stuff. The breakfast buffet was the poorest one I have experienced relative to all other equivalent hotels I stayed in China. Most of the staff has difficulty communicating in English and was not as pleasant as in other 5-star hotels in China - had a somewhat annoying experience with the ordering, service, and payment at the bar. Last but certainly not least, public toilets and toilets in at least 4 other rooms that I know of, including mine, overflew.
Air condition in the room worked well which cannot be said for most hotels. The staff was responsive to replace the hot water kettle in the room that did not work. The room was quiet even though it was next to the elevator. The buffet breakfast offers good selections. The location is excellent next to Wanda Plaza. A supermarket for picking up snacks and fruits is in the mall basement . The furniture in the room is showing wear and tear and may warrant replacement to live up to the Le Meridien's standard.
So surprised when I arrived at just how modern and comfortable this hotel was. A pleasant stay, the only downside being the air conditioning which would not drop below 23 degrees in my room (although my colleagues did not have the same problem) Efficient and friendly staff, quiet and in a good location
Stayed for 3 nights, location is good with lots of food option at night down the street. Room is new and trendy, especially the lobby with lots of act piece. However, staff didn't introduce me with art gallery that I can visit with my room key. Lots of red color and other colors furnitures made the lobby and room more colorful. Lounge access is great as well.
Service was good the room was ok the shower not to good pressure check in was quick check out took very long. The service center of the hotel employ people that do not speak a word of English so to get them to help me with my luggage was quite a challenge.
Stayed in "classic room". Largely generic feel except the new starwood group chez longe. Staff are polite and generally helpful. Everything in its usual place and fairly well stocked with power sockets, let down by non-functioning air conditioning (repaired swiftly by an efficient but unkempt oil covered engineer), and faulty power socket; iron; and hot water kettle, no coffee (un-replenished from the previous guest's use) Main buffet offers fairly decent Chinese food all day. International breakfast options are poorly executed (especially eggs, e.g. "poached" =hard boiled) . There is a sushi section which features a chef who has clearly never had sashimi (Have a look at the photo to see how he served it) Oh and revolting coffee throughout the hotel. Room service was awful. Might have been a bad menu choice, but given the other on site food experiences, I decided to stick with 'local' fare. Pork and prawn wontons turned out to be only 3, just pork, luke warm, sitting on a brim full bowl of noodles in tepid water, adorned with 3 dangerously old looking /smelling / tasting king prawns. There are certainly better options in Qingdao.
Very nice stay, well located, good breakfast. Friendly staff and gym /swimming pool very good. However a check out a bit long and chinese customers jumping from queue, need someone from hotel to regulate those one
