Stayed at this hotel on a business trip. Loved the room and the hotel in general until our last evening when our group was abused and threatened by a very drunk person in the hotel bar. His companion was so drunk he was passed out in a chair and this guy for no reason approached our group abusing us and wanting to fight. Hotel staff sat idly by and did nothing until eventually we took maters Into our own hands and restrained the guy while hotel "security" looked on. When we explained at the front desk what was going on we were offered a fruit basket as an apology but amazingly the intoxicated aggressor remained in the bar area. Great hotel but seriously this type of behaviour would not be tolerated anywhere else in the world.
Hotel is located in the city center, close to the water, it is nice to walk around the jetty and fairly easy to reach shopping mall and food options around the hotel. Rooms are big and well mantained, Food option for breakfast is good, lobby bar is very quite but they have a good singer playing most evening.
Intercontinental is always an excellent choice, no matter in which country you are! Great service, hotel's staff very kind & helpful. The room was very luxury & spacious. Breakfast was very satisfying, offering every kind of food you can think of. Buffet dinner was also fresh & yummy. The hotel is close to the Marina and a mall with shops.
My wife and I recently completed our first trip to China, ending our stay with 5 days in Qingdao. The hotel is modern and clean, very comfortable for westerners such as ourselves. The front desk staff, concierge, restaurant staff were all excellent. Standouts at the buffet were Jimmy and Damian. Every morning for breakfast Jimmy took the time to ensure we were comfortable and everything was perfect. Damian went the extra mile and helped "explain" the buffet and wide variety of foods available to us; he even set up a hotpot and brought us sauces and foods for us to try. This was incredibly helpful for us english speaking Canadians with little experience with real Chinese food! The only complaint I had about the hotel was how hot it was. We opted for a sea view room, and it received a lot of sun in the afternoon - and the room temperature was at 25C, even with the aircon blowing full blast. I asked the front desk for another room with more functional air conditioning... they did set us up with another room, but my wife and I were exhausted and the thought of changing rooms - it was just too much for us. So we opted to google the thermostat and learn how to configure it to our liking. Even with our devious pokery we could not get the room to be comfortable throughout our trip - it was just always too stuffy and hot, never dropping below 22C. Our InterContinental room in Beijing was cool and comfortable - as was the Hilton at the airport :) Oh well. In retrospect my wife and probably should have taken the effort to try another room - although I highly doubt it would have made a difference. I suspect the air conditioning is just underpowered. Note that the entire hotel was a bit too warm for our liking (the restaurant was kept between 23-25C according to their thermostats!). Probably a cultural thing; perhaps Chinese are more comfortable at 23C whereas Canadians like it at 21C? Ok, I have typed a lot about the temperature.... don't get dismayed by my obsession - this hotel is top notch. I would stay here again.
I always like the signature smell of a Intercontinental hotel. I stayed with this Intercontinental in Qingdao this time and I am very impressed with its nice service and hospitality. The view from my room was spectacular. The staff had been very helpful. I think the only small part to improve is the cleanness of some small corners in the room. I believe it will improve overtime.
This is a high quality hotel in a nice area of Qingdao. Personally I enjoyed the marina and the nice restaurants. The hotel is clean and has a nice service. Rooms are spacious and fully equipped. I tried a few other hotels in Qingdao, however this is my preferred hotel.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Very courteous staff and very comfortable rooms. The room was quiet and although I did not have the best view from my room I had a beautiful view every time I stepped out of the elevator. Also the restaurant/breakfast was a nice mix of traditional Chinese and American breakfast.
The location is ideal for walking/cycling around the waterfront. You can sunbathe at the beach nearby and swim in the warm water. The rooms was big and nice, the breakfast was really good with better than average food, lots of Chinese and Western options to choose from. The hotel also has a Korean restaurant where we had a nice lunch.
We been in Qingdao for a business and pick this hotel because travel rating . Overall this hotel very nice and can be 5 star, but it not. It very new and build with expensive materials and it need maintenance! We did change room twice because we made different reservations and every bathroom needed maintenance, it had broken tiles, the shower door have plastic around that was falling off and need to be cleaned around latches that rusted and dirty, not in 5 star hotel. Location great and walking distance to restaurants and attractions. Most of the staff speak English and very helpful , the reason I put 3 star, because maintenance need and July 28, we went to concierge and him to help with car reservation, they have a local service over the phone which is in Chinese and we has done it before he he said that we need taxi and ask how we pay before , we said cash, he said it was illegal and literally almost screaming on us, he even ask if we staying in this hotel ? We appeared to him like we apparently were not staying there. As a hotel employees if you can't do anything for guests, you just say so , polite , not screaming, being rude . We turn around and left hotel don't even want to speak him any more. Also gym need wipes for equipment and yoga mats very dirty. All this thing not hard to fixed.
This hotel is in front of the sea, with very beautiful view from many of the rooms. Excellent rooms, large and well maintained, perfectly cleaned and equipped. Buffet for breakfast and lunch offers wide choice both asian and western cuisine, high quality. Service is polite and efficient, with the only remark that not all employees at reception have fluent enough English for such level of hotel. Beautiful spa center
