Our family of four (4) spent 8 days at Vista Sol Punta Cana. 7/24-7/31. We booked this hotel through a “hot rate” on Hotwire. We were promised a 4-star/all-inclusive hotel and we were not disappointed. We started to look at all the mixed reviews and started to panic and expected a lot of discomfort even thought of losing the money and rebooking somewhere else. Luckily we didn’t!!!! When we got there, we were checked in by a super polite and welcoming lady and her name was Julissa. Ok let’s start with the good stuff now: Great pools (3). Food all day until 10pm via buffet, snack bar or a la carte restaurants. We truly enjoyed the a la carte restaurants for dinner. Mexican and Hibachi were our most favorites, yet Gourmet restaurant was great too. No harassment from any vendors. If a NEXUS rep asked us to look into them/tours, we said no politely and that was it. Staff was courteous- did not ask for any tips, but sure they welcomed them if you offered. The lady that maintained our room was amazing “Karina”. At the buffet we encountered a young lady who was extremely sweet, professional and resourceful. Her name was Genesis Martinez. Emilio and Pedro at the Asian restaurant were super cool entertaining. At the snack bar, the chefs were also super polite and caring. Sandwiches and burgers were always made fresh and to your taste. Lastly, there are bars in every pool, snack bar and restaurants. You can pay for some premium stuff, but we never felt the need to. Oh and before I forget! The hotel prepared a special cake, wine and reservation at a restaurant prior to our check-in/arrival. It was for my husband's Birthday and it was awesome! Macarena helped us along the way. As you can tell, we had a great vacation and didnt really need to worry about anything. Will repeat if available when we return to DR!
Stayed here for 6 nights, all 4 kids had fun, lots of pool to choose from when the main one gets crowded. Food was ok, specialty restaurants gets full pretty fast was only able to go to the mexican one so book them soon as you arrive. The beach had a lot of seaweeds, so we weren't h able to enjoy that part which is why we came here thats the only disappointing part otherwise everything else was good.
This is a very well maintained resort. Every single person is working really hard. Everything is kept clean. First I would like to say thank you to bartender William Ventura who was very nice and helped us with some questions. He made good drinks and was always kind to us and smiling! He made our stay very pleasant! I also want to thank the whole entertainment crew. Especially Francesco, John, Lenny and the girls (unfortunately I don't remember their names) were very nice. They make long days and were always friendly. It don't take them long to know your name and are always very persuading to join them with a game. I was really blown away by their dance moves. Woow these guys can dance! I can watch this the whole day. So thank you for making our stay this good! The rooms are ok and clean. I've read a lot of reviews before booking this resort and I think there are always people who are complaining about everything. This also applies for the food. Sometimes it's a bit cold, but it's not a complaint. People are complaining about the diversity at the buffet but there is always something you can find that you like. So far so good, I can't say anything bad about this resort. Relax and enjoy the beautiful resort and you'll be fine. I'll definitely would book this resort again! No doubt about that! Sometimes it bothered me how pushy some sellers were. At the beach they are being watched by the security and that was ok! But they are also at the resort at the swimming pool... I don't think a day went by without being stopped to talk to a seller..... Now comes the part of our experience with Thomas Cook during our stay...... Everything was ok at the first few days. Later they forced us to pay 1680,- US dollar. A lady of the guest service told us that everyone who was travelling with Thomas Cook already paid and we also needed to pay or we were kicked out of our room. She lied to my face. We set up a WhatsApp group with other travelers and nobody paid anything. I think it's a good thing I don't have her name... I understand were they are coming from though. They were afraid they don't get our money from Thomas Cook. But lying to my face?!?! That was a bad experience.... I showed her some articles on the internet which says we shouldn't pay anything and that if we did pay we didn't get our money back. She doesn't want to hear anything. Just pay! was her answer. Luckily we didn't pay because the next day it all was paid from the fund established after the bankruptcy. I'm realizing that we are one of the lucky ones because this was our only negative experience with the whole Thomas Cook story... But we were at the other side of the world with no experience of this country....It can be scary... And the end... I would definitely recommend this resort!
Having just spent 15 days and 15 nights in the hotel i just have to write a review . I will start of with the good,=Hotel grounds and the beach are great, above average in fact, the room is adequate, with the rain shower broken, the beds are comfortable, Most of hotel staff are good, its spotless clean , The bad,=the food s below average, what you get for your dinner ,is what you get for your tea, every day for 15 days, of course they have four separate rooms ,were they call restraints, hahah, one is an american restaurant, fries and ribs, food ok, but still friesand ribs, of a day time the room is a cafe werethey serve snacks ,raw in the middle burgers etc, The Italian is quite good, The chinese is quite basic, rice etc, nothing outstanding ,the al carte is average,. the main hall, like i say is quite mundane, The UGLY,the security at that hotel, are drinking of a night time, stand in shadows etc scary creepy. Do not leave the otel is highly dangerous indeed threatening ,even on the beach ,the sellers are walking up and down the beach shouting all the time,no peace, or quiet, one even had a poor monkey on a chain around his neck, all these are on the hotels beach, the security guards are there friends never get stopped, high fives etc They have a coach excursion to a shopping mall,20 dollars it costs, this mall was built for tourists, its void of people, the prices are extorcient,30 dollars for a bar of soap which is 2 pounds here ,
We (my husband and I) travelled to the Vista Sol Punta Cana September 17 - 24, 2019. This was our first time to Punta Cana, we have been to the DR twice in the past, but to Puerto Plata. We travelled SunWing and upgraded our room to a Junior Suite! LOVED our room and proximity to and views of the beach. With the Junior Suite came a few perks; our designated beach chairs and beach bar (very small and limited), a daily stocked bar fridge in the room, and a hydrotherapy service at the spa (which I cannot comment on, as we didn't visit the spa). The disadvantage to the Junior Suite, in order to get to your room (we were 9104), you have to pass the beach spa hut, and they are constantly at you for "massage". It became annoying, and we tried to become creative to get to our room via the beach. The resort was very clean and well kept. The lobby was bright, open air, and very modern. As we had read, you book your a la carte's on a kiosk, which was fantastic and simple to do. We booked 5! I'm not sure of the limit, but it didn't stop us ... we did the Gourmet twice and the Japanese twice, both of which I recommend. We also did the Italian, which was ok, maybe if I had of ordered something different. Be careful of a shopping trip the Sunwing Representative on site promotes to Nicole's, the flyer promotes high quality handmade products (jewelry, cigars, souvenirs, cocoa, chocolate, etc) . I'm sure Nicole's is beautiful, and I would have loved to have visited … but our "ride" didn't take us there. We ended up at a 2 story u-shaped strip mall (mostly vacant), that had 3 stores selling products as would the vendors on the beach - oh, the so many vendors on the beach!!! When we discussed this with the SunWing representative, he assured us that they (and the hotel) would watch these outside drivers and ensure you are getting picked up by the correct service. this did not happen so be aware!!!! We didn't prefer the nightly entertainment, and have certainly seen better in our travels. The entertainment staff during the day seemed to keep activities happening at the main pool, with a foam party happening one of the days, and other friendly competitions. We didn't spend a great deal of time at the pool. BEWARE of vendors on the beach, they are relentless, as are the Sales people when walking to the left on the beach. The good thing about the beach is that the hotel has security that try to keep the vendors from coming in to you, but you are fair game when you go for a walk! Also, when walking on the beach, it could have very well been the weather (we have high winds and rough ocean), when walking to the right of the resort, the beach wasn't as clean, and had a foul odour - cannot comment if this is common. Overall for a 4 star resort, all in all, a good vacation. Nothing to RAVE about, but good quality for good value.
its not bad hotel overall, just a little too much boring. Food was 3 star rated hotel, and rooms are a little shaggy. Best is staff undoubtedly, people in DR is always quite nice. i would like to say that hotel is not a bad option, just seems there are better options for the same price. we met Jose, one of the servers, and hes fantastic.
SAVE YOUR MONEY! DO NOT GO! Just returned home from the vista sol after a weeks stay here with my boyfriend. I’ll start with the plus side which is not a lot! The grounds and beach was beautiful two pool areas was lovely, clean and peaceful. Now on too the bad! Where to start here... 1) No one speaks English not one member off staff we had to google translate everything! 2) Food was absolutely vile! There was even a black long hair in my pasta sauce and another night something crawling in my coleslaw (which wasn’t even coleslaw just abit of dead cabbage) this resulted in us getting a taxi for $20 dollars to Burger King or Pizza Hut most nights and $20 dollars back ended up spending a fortune on going out which we shouldn’t of had to do. 3) entertainment on a night was none existent we was in bed for 9 or 10 so poor 4) Bad location you can’t just have a wonder out the hotel to a shop Please trust me and do not go to this hotel it’s been the worst holiday I’ve ever had. If your looking to not eat or have any sort of fun and you just want to sleep for the week and not be able to talk to any one in English then yes this is the place for you but for me never again I’m so happy to be home.
Spent 2 weeks holiday here, overall lovely place had no problems at all, found all staff lovely and easy to get on with, buffet restaurant was ok love the cooking stations for omelettes in the morning only downside was the night time entertainment not up to much, could do with being better, the beach was lovely but just to many people trying to push you into buying things, also not a kind of place to walk out at night so stuck in hotel.overall ideal place to relax and chill during the day in the sun but nights could be better.
We met Alejandro on the beach just outside our hotel Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana and bought alot of jewllery & gifts from him. Alejandro is a lovely guy that will do you good prices and will chat to you daily when ever he sees you. He is a kind generous man, gave a couple of free bracelet & anklet for myself & my daughter, he has great morals and looks after his fellow man. We spent quite a bit of money with him getting gifts for our grandchildren & my husband and I's mothers, not to mention beautiful necklaces, bangles, earings and rings for my self with the Dominican stone of Larimar and he gave us a much better price than the local sellers the hotel allow in several times a week. You will know him by his balloons always attached to his stock carriers which make him stand out from other sellers along the beach. You will also hear him coming as he says "Hola hola hola hola" spanish for Hello. He is pictured with my husband on our last morning in Punta Cana. Please seek him out if you are wanting to buy any Larimar or cheaper jewellery items.
Lovely place, great people! A lot of diverse areas, from pools with bars, beach, voleyball field, ping pong tables, theatre to exotic animals places. Great entertainment all day long. Staff is always smiling, helpful, friendly! Performers at the theatre are amazing every night and the shows are very diverse. Great thanks to everyone and especially to Jaiser Rosado at the bar!!!! Muchas gracias mi amigo!
