White sand, clear blue water, friendly and attentive staff. Clean manicured gardens, good food. A great vacation!!

Perfect for a quiet, relaxing beach weekend. Food options were OK, I preferred the buffets and room service to the restaurants, though we were only able to get into the Mediterranean and Japanese restaurants, so I can't speak for the others.

The best restaurant was the surf and Turf. The people were eager to please. All day luxury. If you are not looking for a time of relaxation, this is not the place for you.

I took my mom for her 60th. We had an amazing experience. The staff was truly amazing and made the trip a memorable experience. The buffet was truly awesome. We didn't know there were shops on the beach until day 4 as we did back to back activities. The hotel will take you wherever you want to go.

Everything was great and as advertised but have two complaints: 1. Only available times for dinner were at 9 pm for all of the restaurants. If you want an earlier time you have to do it online before arriving. I feel this takes away from the spontaneity of a relaxing vacation. 2. Reserving lounges and chairs at pool area should not be allowed. People get up at the crack of dawn and have the pool servants reserve chairs with a towel for the entire day if you go to those chairs or not. This is a big waste of space. If you are using the chairs and have personal items on the chairs then the chair is taken. If you are not at the chairs and there are no personal items then the chair is free. It is that simple. Otherwise there are a lot of chairs in prime locations that no one is using. I don't know if this is allowed only at this hotel or at all but this rule is inefficient. I prefer the method used on cruise ships. If you are away from your chair for more than a certain amount of time you give up the right to your chair. It is only fair to everyone else. I'm on vacation and do not need to wake up at 6 or 7 am just to reserve a chair. I'll stay at work if I want to get up that early. Otherwise, the service and staff were truly 5 stars.

Very enjoyable vacation. Staff was great. Shakira,Almando, DeDe, Nyara and Isabel. And our 2 butlers,Edger And Bum Bum were just super. Our friends that were with us will concur. My wife and I have stayed at two other Iberostar all Adult Hotels in Jamaica and Rivera Maya and they also were great. Each Iberostar Hotel has its on uneakness about them. We will come back to Punta Cana next year and stay at this Hotel with more of our friends, and book our vacation with Orbitz.

Had a wonderful trip from start to finish! The staff was excellent. Will be going back very soon!!

Quiet and relaxing with plenty of space around the pools and the beach. Good food and plenty of it.

Best hotel I've ever stayed at staff was incredible never been treated so well

Resort was above all expectations. The service we received was amazing and on an above and beyond level. I would definitely stay at this resort again. Butler service was amazing, food was great, drinks were great, and activities were so much fun.

Your transport agent from airport to hotel and vice versa is always 1 hour late or never shows up, he think he is on vacation and we have to meet when he wants and ends up not showing up at all (Mr Lenord) is a disappointment.

There was a noticeable damp, mildew type odor in the room the moment we walked into it, and believed it came from the A.C. ducts not being properly cleaned in such a humid environment. We tested that idea by shutting the A.C. and leaving the window open for several hours. When we came back to the room the order was for the most part, gone. We tried that several times and had the same results. They need to have a maintenance program to clean the AC duct work. The grounds are beautiful and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Be sure to go there at least once. If they clean the ducts, go twice

Great staff and a wonderful beach make for a near-perfect vacation.

Our 4th visit. Have your $10 bill ready for immigration at the airport, then tip a porter to collect your bags from the carousel and take you straight thru to your car to the hotel, and let the fun begin! Do not waste time on a group shuttle! Arrange private transportation at a separate travel site if need be. Take a cab back to the airport for $40 after the vacation. Avoid the Club spiel, it's code for timeshare. Your butler is more of an expiditer, and you will have to ask for what you want, everyday. We have a bottle of wine and champagne on ice in the room everyday, along with a large glass of Baileys and the stocked minibar. Have him arrange your specialty dinner reservations as soon as you check in. Everyone at the resort is there to make you happy. You just have to ask. Get breakfast in bed everyday. They do have a wine list of both free and fee wines available by the bottle. There is a nice French Blanc de Blanc for free and the Spanish rioja whites are very good too. Lay under a palapa at the beach or in a cabana by the pool all day. Get steak and lobster at the buffet. Take in the evening show. As they like to say, It's all inclusive.

This is our third stay at iberostar grand . It's the best place to stay!!!! As I mentioned before wifi is needed all through out the hotel, and better connection in the room. I would come back to this hotel over and over and over again.

only problem only drink bottled water, otherwise great place

We loved our stay at the Iberostar Bavaro All Inclusive Resort! The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They were always smiling and having a good time. We speak some Spanish, so that helped, but was not necessary. I'm a very picky eater, but thought the food was great! The buffet is really all you need! We did a reservation for one of our nights, but preferred the buffet over the restaurant. The cleaning staff was always excellent! Our room was spotless every day! We even got beautiful flowers from the staff when they found out it was our honeymoon. The resort itself brought us fresh fruit and a bottle of wine to celebrate. There is plenty of water and other beverages available in the room that is restocked daily for no added cost. Be sure not to use the water to brush your teeth or to drink. We did not have any issues with the water or feeling ill. We would definitely return! Loved every minute of the resort. Sidenote: If you go off the resort to the shops along the beach near the resort, be cautious. Like other Caribbean islands, some of the vendors are very pushy and want you to buy something from them. We did not have the best experience at the shops.

Great Stay, would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling here!

Dermi and jenny treated us on arrival, after some come confusion regarding which of the for resorts in which we would stay. Junior figured it out and got us to the correct reception desk. Once there I was presented with someone else's registration form, so not high marks on check-in. The suite was very small equi-distant from lobby dining room and the closest pool or beach. That distance was about 3 football fields either way. That said, we had started this vacation quest at 3am on a Tuesday and arrived around 3pm, and hungry. We were processed through check-in and ran to grab lunch to fix quarrelsome low blood sugar issues. After which I went to fetch bags from the lobby and finally settle in our first floor garden suite 2616. The pools and rooms are showing their age. There was a slight mildew smell common to humid beach properties in the room. The room was equipt with a king bed with slim walk space all around. In front of the bed a step down to sitting area with tv, desk, couch and chair. A mini frig under the desk was kept stocked with assorted beer, pop, juice and water. A small outdoor sitting area lay outside double glass doors. Overall the room felt cave-like, dark and musky. The toilet area was just wide enough for my shoulders to fit. I could not have changed my close there. After a shower and a bit of cool down it was time to venture out in the dark to find the French restaurant where we had dinner reservations. Property so large we got lost. We ended up in the wrong resort and got a bellman with a golf cart to take us to the right place. After some trial and error on the cart we found our destination. The food was great our entire stay. The food and the service should out! This is why we've been iberostar repeaters. However the properties in Bavaro don't compare favoribly to those in Cancun in my opinion. Entering the water at playa bavaro was sick with seaweed and the faint smell of something like sewer gases. Wading out through the murky brown water that was littered with heavy clumps of seaweed. The first week of September 2015 it's still bad. At a similar property in playa del Carmen, clean white sand and crystal clear water where you can look down and see your feet in ankle, knee, hip, and neck deep water! This is not true in bavaro. The sea weed and aqua esthetics are a deal breaker for another visit. it's a place for families with small kids on a budget. Nice ocean vistas, but not so good if you are an aqua dic water bug like me. The very international clientele were fun to have around.

Awesome hotel, even better staff, needs some TLC to keep 5 star. Pool tiles falling off all around the pool. Upgraded but wished we hadn't as they never stocked the bar, which was supposed to be done twice a day, never stocked the snacks unless we called. Beautiful, very serene. Just Needs to fine tune and kep up with repairs, beautiful, well keps amenities, no critters or bugs. Awesome adults only.
