This review is based on our stay in May 2026 at Bahia Principe Luxury Aquamarine. Overall, we had a nice time. There are definitely better all-inclusive resorts out there, but there are worse too. For the price, this one wasn’t bad. The food was about what we expected. The restaurants were much better than the buffet. Our favorite was Nomad, the Mongolian restaurant. The pool and staff were both good. Having burgers/hot dogs by the pool was convenient, even if they weren’t amazing. Daily international food options were also nice. Entertainment was better than expected, and having access to all the Bahia resorts was a big plus. The rooms are dated and could use updating. The shower water constantly shifted between scalding hot and cold. Also, the beds only have two sheets — no blanket or comforter. The AC gets the room very cold, so request a blanket immediately when you arrive. A few things we wish we knew beforehand: • Many guests experienced some level of “Montezuma’s Revenge,” even while being careful. Bring your own TP, theirs ain’t it and you’ll need it. • The train system between resorts is easy once figured out, but nobody really explained it. • The app isn’t very helpful, especially for directions. • Restaurant reservations are still needed, even if the restaurant isn’t full. • Cheap tumblers for the pool can be found in the little shopping village near the casino. Overall, we enjoyed the trip and felt it was decent value for the money.

Pool is excellent, beach is excellent except for lots of seaweed, but thanks just nature doing its thing. Buffet is very good. Didn’t do any reservations at restaurants but I heard from family and friends they are good. There were a few things in the rooms that need repair or updating but i understand things break sometimes and don’t expect everything to be flawless. Orbitz made a mistake on my reservation but the front desk personnel fixed it for me. I doesn’t matter how perfect a resort is or how amazing the food is or how shiny everything appears to be without a staff that’s welcoming, friendly and just pleasant to deal with. We arrived 60 minutes early and we were able to get a room we preferred. Room was nice some wear and tare but clean. There was a problem that we didn't find out until we went to bed. The bed was not fully made there was not a full bottom sheet. We called housekeeping and they had someone come and they had to leave and return with the proper bedding once we showed them what was wrong. After a long day of travel this was frustrating. The rest of the week our room was always made and cleaned properly. We stayed at Aquamarine 3 years ago and enjoyed the stay, the quality of the food and the service. This trip we found everything to be down a notch. Over all the food was mediocre. We had a delicious meals Flame and Il Capriccio and enjoyed the grilled shrimp at Fish Market and tacos at the snack bar. Our wine sommelier was so pleasant and friendly. Franseco at the Flamboyan Bar makes a great Old Fashioned melting the sugar by lighting it on fire with some whiskey! It seems as though some of the staff are worried about the Hyatt take over and it has spilled over into their performance. One major disappointment is the house wines. Three years ago we enjoyed the house wines that were offered. The wines offered now are acidic. And paying $74 dollars for a $15 bottle in the US is rediculous. Another annoyance is that every restaurant and service comes with an upgrade for an upcharge. We have stayed at Bahia hotels 7 times now and want to return. We also hope the quality improves.

The room was so clean. The bed was a lottle hard and they were having some problems with hit water. But everyone was very nice and what ever we needed they got us. The beach was beautiful. The room was okay, there was water leaking around the toilet which was kind of annoying. The blanket / comforter wasn’t comfortable as well. They can also upgrade their press for clothing it’s kinda old. Mini shuttles to the beach were helpful. Aquamarine also did not have elevators. Buffet food personally was not the best. Cleanliness of rooms was average, if not below average as some areas in the shower were moldy and one of my pillows smelled bad, so I had to set it aside . Rooms are outdated and basic for a 5 star hotel. Food was okay at the buffet but on one occasion it wasnt even hot .

The only way the bed gets made, towels gathered up and replaced, floors gets properly swept, coffee and sugar gets filled is if tips are left out... Considering I was told it was all inclusive I tested to see if anything would get done without any tips couple days. Nothing happened on the days I didn't tip.
