All the little things that didn't happen added up:
At arrival, no upgrade offer, no bottle of spirits, only an upSELL offer-only received the bottle of sparkling wine after follow-up survey.
The bed was broken/hard. Had to sleep on it three nights before it was addressed appropriately. Asked at customer service on two separate days.
Could never get our room stocked appropriately. Took two days of requests before we got our mini fridge stocked. Had to call down twice just to get bottled water to brush our teeth. Could never get consistent washcloths left in our room. Even calling about them didn't work. We finally had to horde them when we finally got a couple. Our bedsheet was taken and not replaced. Had to go into the housekeeping room and grab one myself.
Resort rules were followed consistently. People were allowed to reserve beach chairs and come into our section when they weren't supposed to. Nothing came of going to customer service or even trying to find security, who couldn't speak english when I finally found one. However, I was denied access to the coffee machine at the restaurant next to the beach because I had a purple bracelet. If you have rules, follow them all or don't have them.
We saved for this trip for a while and I expected at least basic things to be there. I ended up going to the beach at 0700 so that I could get a spot in the shade. I couldn't eat breakfast or get coffee unless I trekked it all the way back to my assigned restaurant
