Sun was shining when we arrived at Park Plaza. Yay! The reception team were friendly, helpful and efficient in organising the apartment for our tired family. The resort has been well designed with all that we needed no more than 10 minutes walk away. Apartment was spacious, modern and clean. The ladies who came to clean our room every few days and replace the towels we always smiling and helpful. We ate every day on the resort. Breakfast choice and quality was great and we ate at the poolside restaurant most evenings. Staff were really attentive without being imposing. A big shout out to the brilliant ladies running the kids club 'Arturs World'. Our children wanted to do two things every day - swim and go to the kid club. This says a lot about the staff who were caring and creative in keeping the kids occupied for a few hours each day. The kids disco is a must even if you don't have a family! We are planning our next visit to Park Plaza with more family members next year.
My husband and I and our two kids had an amazing time especially due to the great staff! The kids club is excellent, Iva and Nina and Nicolina were incredible, making us feel so welcome and entertaining the girls. Would definitely go back.
First the plus points. We visited last week of May and first week of June. Apartments are spotless and cleaning took place daily with changing of towels too. Shower is amazing in the bathroom but watch for flooding. Resort is nice to walk around and nice shops, very good restaurants and gorgeous pool area over looking the sea. our option was to sunbath down on the beach though. A beautiful little cove just a few steps down from the pool. Very comfy double sunbeds and just 190 kuna for the day including 2 drinks. The sea is very calm and clear. The children loved feeding the fish bread and swimming with them. There is a huge inflatable in the sea called the Wibit which the kids spent hours on for a weekly price we negotiated. The shop on site is very well stocked with lots of choice. Yes it is slightly more expensive but its going to be. We also took Uber's to Lidl for around £4 each way to do big shops. You can re-cycle all your plastic and glass bottles there and get vouchers off your shopping. Lots of good restaurants around the area if you go for walks to find them. Particularly good one over looking the marina which does chicken burgers or beef burgers for around £3.50 with the most amazing chips. I was a bit miffed about the charges for sunbeds around the pool initially. When we arrived in May there was no charge. Guess what no sunbeds free and lots reserved with nobody on them. Come 1st June when the charges kicked in and plenty of beds. Maybe more resorts should do this to resolve the sunbed issue. The people of Croatia are extremely friendly and a trip in Pula is very easy for more access to restaurants. Highly recommend a trip to Benziac Winery for wine tasting and lunch. Again just a short Uber journey away. At the edge of the resort there is also ice skating and a sports bar. Downsides, as there is always some :0) There was not much open during the first week. As our weather wasn't great this didn't leave us with much to do. The Histeria next door advertised cinema nights but none materialised. The kids club advertised activities for older children such as drones and archery. When we took our 11 year old's down there to take part the staff did not have a clue what we were talking about despite adverts for the activities everywhere. The kids got put in front of a PS4 for an hour and never went back again. We asked at reception and again they didn't seem to know. The beds are OK but the bedding could do with replacing as the pillows were awful and the duvet not much better. The kitchenette is small but a full size fridge. However there is no cupboard space as they have filled them with so many cooking implements that you would never use, such as a huge soup stock pot. Therefore there is no places to store your food. It is also very badly soundproofed so if you are unlucky enough to have neighbours upstairs who stomp around or scrape chairs across the floor (changing the chairs might have helped to rubber feet) then you sleep might be limited. Also the cleaners push trolleys up and down outside on the cobbled streets from early on in the morning. Finally the 'pool police'!!! No having fun in the pool allowed. No balls, no screaming as you jump in the ice cold water, no lilo's, etc or you will be told. I know the resort wants to have a relaxed feel to it but people do have children, well behaved children at that but let them have a holiday too. Hence why the beds near the sea are better as they can do what they like in the sea with lilo's etc.
What a beautiful resort with lush green surroundings, the staff were very friendly and really helpful. Pula is a beautiful town and if you like boat trips then there is lots to do, we walked for miles in Pula and around the Verudela peninsula discovering new beaches - TAKING A SNORKEL IS A MUST the sea is crystal clear and warm enough to enjoy a swim There are a couple of downsides (we went 1st to 14th June) The bars at the Self Catering complex close at 10pm in fact they are rushing you out of there so they can close There is NO wheelchair (or pushchair) access to the pools at the Verudela Apartments which was hard to believe Overall though an AMAZING holiday and very chilled I would highly recommend
Firstly, the good points Very friendly staff Lots of amenities and restaurant choices Really good pools and water slides Pools and surrounding areas extremely clean Beautiful location and scenery Free kids club Good bus service to local town Now the bad points... Checked in with 2 children aged 4 and 1. We were given accommodation on the top floor (with no lifts) this in itself is not a major problem however made life more difficult. The problem became that we were given a room that had one bedroom up a very steep and narrow flight of stairs (like a mezzanine) with the children expected to sleep on sofa bed downstairs. Our children still expect to be able to get up and come and get us in the night if they need us. There’s no way they could walk either up or down these stairs. The receptionist apologised and said, “at least it has a nice view...” Other bad/weird point to note, this is the only hotel I’ve ever been to that charges you for usage of the beds and umbrellas around the pool! Families were being charged 20 Kuna per bed and umbrella per day. The pool boy collecting the money was very apologetic and stated that reception should have informed us of these charges upon check in, but none of the residents we spoke to had been told of this charge. Nobody we spoke to had ever been charged to use the pool beds at any other resort either. Other than that, overall a nice complex with lots going for it, just bear in mind the hidden charges.
We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment on the second floor. The apartment was cramped and had a narrow, steep staircase up to the bedroom which was dangerous for me (as I was 7 months pregnant) and my young daughter. The bathroom was small, smelt bad and the shower was a bit mouldy. Overall it was not very clean and during our one week stay the hotel staff did not sweep or clean the floor at all. The sofa bed was uncomfortable, and it smelt musty like it was really old. The pillows were not very comfortable. However the kitchen was well equipped, although it would have been good to have a toaster. No tea towels were supplied. The apartment block was quite noisy, we could hear people coming up the stairs and it did keep us awake. On the plus side the pool area was lovely (except the charge for sunbeds which seemed unnecessary given what we'd already paid for the apartment plus numerous meals in the hotel restaurants and trips to the supermarket!) and the sea views were great. We tried the indoor pool at hotel Histria (for extra charge) which was also very nice. The supermarket was very handy and we also thought the restaurants were good. The free kids play area was brilliant, with friendly staff. Unfortunately there was no outside park/play area as advertised (we found one that was shut off and overgrown). The location 15 minutes from Pula is perfect, taxis are not too expensive (especially Uber) or the bus is handy too. Great location for exploring the area. Overall we really liked the facilities here but we could not recommend it based on the apartment we stayed in.
At check in we were advised about the small charge for sun loungers, this, in my opinion is an excellent idea. No sunbed wars or reserving beds before breakfast - all hotels should adopt this!! The resort is clean and staff very friendly and helpful, the WIFI is excellent throughout the hotel too. Stayed half board, the food was lovely but lacked choice some evenings. Croatian wine was very nice and reasonably priced (£3/glass in hotel, £1.50/ glass in nearby harbour bar, £5/bottle in supermarket) However, there is zero entertainment in this hotel and the bar closes at 10pm!! We opted for wine on our balcony (when we didn't go to Pula town) The air conditioning units in our room (had upstairs bedroom with lethal staircase) did not work, it was so hot at night but could not open windows due to the noise from other guests. Saturday night we were awoken at 3am with music from a nearby nightclub that went on until 6am! The resort is beautiful, but would not recommend due to the noise, lack of entertainment and lack of air conditioning.
Stayed in May 2019, the rooms are pokey, damp and no sound proof through the door, every time someone passed the door it sounded like they were in the room. Large groups of kids and teenagers staying in the hotel, lots of noise until the early hours of the morning. The hotel did nothing about it. Outdoor slide not open, no entertainment even though it said there would be. Would not recommend for those wanting a peaceful holiday, nor for those looking for somewhere with a nightlife - there is none!! The third bed is a terrible camp bed, the sofa beds are awful.
We stayed in an apartment on this complex recently.Good points were free WiFi, free safe and free air conditioning or heating, large, comfy bed, lovely staff, car hire on site from a company with nice new cars, who seemed decent to deal with. The views were lovely from the shore and pool. The less good things were that the apartment was somewhat claustrophobic, with small windows and heavy shutters. It felt very dark. However we did have a nice outside area, as we were on the ground floor and the apartment was clean.I say this, but the sofa bed mattress was horribly stained. We reported this and another clean mattress was provided and placed on top of the old one. This meant that we could not fold the sofa and had to sit at the table.I kept stubbing my toe on the chairs! There was no toaster and Viking was very limited. The pool looked lovely, but was too cold to go in, due to unseasonal weather. In fact the resort was very quiet indeed. It was ina good position for walks and had a bus stop very close, so you could easily go to Pula for 11Kuna each way- about £1.40. There was a surprisingly interesting aquarium in the historic old fort, which was with a visit. The sea was beautiful and clear, but cold. There was a choice of eating places and a few shops. We went to Lidl, not far away, as it was cheaper. The coffee and Croatian wine was lovely. Not sure if there was any entertainment, but it would have been nice to be able to pay to access British TV.
We had a chilled out week at the Park Plaza Verdula BUT..... Pros... food buffet was good value for half board basis, we enjoyed the meals. Bus into Pula £1.25 and easy to use. Cons... sofa bed in apartment which was small, be careful to not injure yourself on mechanism of the sofa. And don’t hope for a good nights sleep Cleaners very noisy and start at 7am, no chance of a holiday lay in. Walls super thin as could hear neighbour snoring Charge for sun beds £2.50 a day, but there was no system and not everyone was charged. The guy collecting had no way of knowing whose money he took. Plus in the afternoon he left and therefore the beds were free. Beds were plastic and not worthy of a charge. No evening entertainment so the resort is dead after the evening meal. You can go into other hotel but they accommodate an older group of holiday makers and we are in our early 40s. Bar at the entrance of the resort.. sports bar is cheap and friendly. But the lack of any entertainment was disappointing and we almost watched telly every night in our room. Lots of activities on site, table tennis, crazy golf etc but yes you pay for it all and it’s not cheap. Lack of any view from balcony due to huge trees. 100% will never come back or recommend this place.
