Great central location. The place is clean, bright and simple and good value for money. Front desk staff are friendly and efficient. The facilities are a bit basic but everything works. The place can be a bit noisy particularly as the rooms are small and sound insulation poor. There’s always someone coming in very late after a few beers and shouting. Everyone can hear it!
My partner and I stumbled upon this place while on a road trip around Croatia. Building is located centre of town. Reception area is more hotel looking. Tony explained we had book an apartment and wasn’t in located building. It was a 2 min walk and tony helped with the guidance of the car to correct parking space. Room spotless and good facilities. Great location. Thanks from Eileen and Nicky Newcastle.
I’m not sure why they chose to call this a hostel as it was more upscale than we anticipated and felt like a boutique hotel. Located in a historic building, that has been renovated, its very tastefully designed to maximize its small space. They even installed an elevator. We stayed in two attic rooms. They were quiet and small but were fine for one person or a couple for a few days as the location of this hotel couldn’t be more perfect - literally located right beside the Arch of the Sergii and a 5 min walk to the Colosseum. The photos posted with this review show the hotel’s yellow building and one of the interior design elements preserved during the renovation. Such character. Room 303 was much smaller than Room 305. The only challenge we encountered was parking. The GPS took us to the main street located in front of the hotel, but that is not where parking is offered nor where you can drop off luggage. If you are driving by car and have a lot of luggage, make sure you communicate in advance with the hotel so they can send you VERY clear instructions as to where to bring the car to unload your luggage. It’s a tad complicated. Easier if you arrive by taxi. I would stay here again! Location was superb for exploring Pula!
This place exceeded our expectation for a last minute weekend booking. We had a tiny clean room for two on the second floor. I was pleasantly surprised by how central the location was. we walked everywhere in Pula. The hostel staff was extremely helpful in letting us keep our rental bikes inside for a night and booking us taxi back to the airport.
Walk out the door to see the Arch of the Sergei and choose from a number of nearby eateries and bars. This is a simple hotel but was very clean, so handy and the staff were lovely. I would happily stay again.
This is not a luxury or flash hotel (I don’t think there are any in Pula) but it is priced accordingly and couldn’t be in a better location (within 15 minute walk of anywhere you would want to go). The rooms are small but immaculately clean and have comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. Right next door to a cool bar (with the most surly staff you could find!) and the most amazing Roman arch. Reception staff are all young and nice with great English and respond to e-mails very quickly. Can’t fault anything.
The Hostal Joyce is a very nice smaller hotel in the very heart of Pula. Everything was very clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the location cannot be faulted. However, our room was very small, not really big enough for two people, only a small wardrobe with few hangers, and no other storage space. For more than a couple of night make sure you have a bigger room.
This is a pretty basic place, but was spotlessly clean and the wifi and aircon were first rate. However, what was brilliant was the view of the ancient arch right out side our room/stone terrace. What a treat being so close to something that is so old! We loved it. No breakfast, no tea/coffee making facilities, and no work surface for our laptop, but for a couple of nights we weren't grumbling.
From the outside the place looked a little sketchy and the reception folks did not want to let me see the room before paying. After promising not to touch anything she let me go upstairs to check out the room. It was large clean and comfortable. The AC worked well. We shut the windows and heard no street noises. The square below us was busy. An easy walk to the Arena and other sites. Safe storage for our bikes.
An excellent choice for a four night stay in Pula. The room was clean, comfortable and modern. You can walk to anywhere in the city and there are good bus connections, easily accessible, to the local beaches and towns further away. There many eating establishments within walking distance. It is overlooking a very busy square but the soundproofing is excellent.
