The caretakers are the best! friendly welcoming just all around awesome, the location is perfect too, 10 min walk to the blacksand Beach, 20 min walk to Puerto Viejo, nice and quiet at night and the beds are really comfy.. will be staying there again next trip!

It was very nice to stay out of town, yet conveniently close enough to walk to town. Very private and quiet. Just a couple of minutes walk away, from Nacho Mama's LB Burrito which was excellent! I will definitely stay at the Secret Jungle again.

Puerto Viejo Gem.

Off the main road, quiet except the howler monkeys that were nearby at the time which is fine with me… management was great and old school local Caribbean! Cleanest place I stayed at and I mean immaculate with a great community kitchen for only 5 units!

True Pura Vida!

Hosts are wonderful. Room was exceptionally clean. One of the few places with true hot water in the shower. Location is close enough to get around but much quieter than right in town. Nice outdoor common use kitchen. Very secure with gated parking. New, quiet A/C and satellite TV, including US stations like CNN and Fox News but spent more time watching the nesting Montzuma Oropendola birds in the adjacent trees and listening to howler monkeys in the evening. Will definitely return here as we were certainly made to feel like welcomed guests as only local owner operated facilities can do.

The owners were very nice and helpful. There is an on site taxi service, bicycle rental, and laundry facility. There is a full service outdoor kitchen for guest use. It was a basic but very nice accommodation. I had a nice stay.

Nice, inexpensive stay.

This was my second time at this hotel. It is a rather nice little place. The shower had hot water and high water-pressure (unusual for inexpensive places in the tropics, but very nice). The room has no AC, but a wall-mounted fan. Note that Google maps has this on the wrong side-street. It is located at the end of the next side-street on the left. I submitted the correction, but it seems to take a year or so to go through.

The only thing is the road to get to the cabins, it is not paved. If you're in 4WD is ok. But the entrance is closed to Puerto Viejo, walking distance.

Excellent value for the low-budget traveller!

A clean and nicely kept place located just north of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca 800 m from the amazing black beach. There is a bus stop on the main road halfways to Puerto Viejo but if you travel first time with bus it is easier to jump off in Puerto Viejo and (if you have luggage) to take a taxi or a tuk-tuk which is cheap. The hosts, Umberto and Katie, have No limits in their hospitality and speak excellent english. The bathroom was heated and thus wet clothes and towels dried up which is not always the case in Costa Rica as we noticed. Some of the equipment in the common, outdoor kitchen could benefit from replacement.
